wow, how did they get him out of texas? their defense will be nasty over the next couple of years. we better get xavier nixon to block out those guys.

Hopefully Devonte Holloman will be turned off by this and the fact that they signed 4 safeties just last year, including Spencer Adams.

we're in desperate need of a marquee secondary player but i think he's attracted to the top-tier schools
4/30/2008 10:43:35 PM
The one DB that I want to get the most is CB Terry Shankle from South Stanly HS in Norwood, NC. This guy had 15 INTERCEPTIONS last year. No joke. Dude is a ball hawk. He has a bunch of great offers too. 3* #16 CB on Scout and 4* #155 overall player on Rivals. We were the first to offer and he's already said that he feels comfortable with us.All of the below schools have also offered. Texas A&M was also recruiting him, but I don't know if they offered.AlabamaClemson Florida North CarolinaSouth CarolinaTennessee[Edited on April 30, 2008 at 11:42 PM. Reason : ]

^as long as he stays just enough out of senility to bring the recruiting heat like normal, i don't mind the redundancies

I have to blame it on work. It's been hella busy lately. I've got a bunch of experiments going, plus I'm revising IRB (Institutional Review Board) protocol for procuring bone, meniscus, synovium, and synovial fluid, and I've got this table full of genes that I'm creating. I've been pretty tired recently.

^^ using "fills" when he meant "feels", too all i'm saying is, i expect a certain level of quality when it comes to Brass Monkey's recruiting info.

Ok here's some more hot fire for you guys. LB Mike Privott talks about his recruitment. You know the deal blow up the comments section with reasons he should come to State. Any negative recruiting about other schools is encouraged , especially that one in the ditches west of Raleigh. He says he's a city boy and that he'd like to go to a place with plenty to do, so we should probably mention how Raleigh is a big city (and you motherfuckers better not start a stupid debate in here about how Raleigh is not a big city and how it sucks ).http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rH6AZjF66M8 [Edited on May 1, 2008 at 12:22 AM. Any idea of which 2008 recruits will play this year? My guesses (assuming all qualify, which probably won't happen)Linney (OL and DT are need positions)Maddox (LB depth)Barnes (Special teams or back up secondary)Glennon (In the likely situation where our current QB regime isn't good enough)Beasley (LB depth)Jones (OL need)Burgess (JuCo plays right away)Mattes (maybe or maybe not depending on how good he is and how our OL holds up)McKeen (JuCo)Locust (JuCo)Johnson (JuCo)Lucas (LB depth, but I think either Beasley or Lucas will RS)[Edited on May 1, 2008 at 1:09 AM. i doubt we see any true freshman on the oline.
5/1/2008 1:26:35 AM
with Irving, Michel, Leonard, Cole and Barnes we have 5 solid LBs. I think Maddox will play to give us six. I think maybe one of Beasley/Lucas will get in a few snaps and special teams, but then again maybe not. I don't see any of our OL recruits playing unless REALLY, REALLY needed. I don't see anyone coming in and taking over in the secondary. Dominique Ellis will obviously get some play at CB. I could see some of the JUCO guys along the D-Line to get some play, just because we're lacking on talented depth there, mostly in the middle. The backup ends are ok(rieskamp and sweezy looked good in the spring game) but we need some depth in the middle.
5/1/2008 1:32:21 AM
Our LB group scares the hell out of me for this season. I'd rank them like this (for the level they are at RIGHT NOW):Very GoodNate IrvingDecentRay Michel (not very quick but he is starting to play faster/react)Dwayne Maddox (still learning on the job)Thomas Barnes (needs to get in shape)????Audie Cole (interesting combo: 6'5 w/quickness)Robbie Leonard (Sr. with good instincts but he can't be an every down LB)William Beasley (will be good, not ready)Terrell Manning (rehabing an injury)Sterling Lucas (will be good, not ready)

Well it doesn't matter about the team. If the player is talented enough, which Shankle is, then we should go after him. As mentioned above he lead the state in interceptions last year with 15! Shankle is a very good athlete and plays KR, PR, WR, & DB for his team. Go watch his highlight video on Rivals. He just flat out dominates.

Updated Scout Rankings:Slay *** #36DTDowdy *** #45DEIn related news, Donte Moss got bumped up to 5*s
5/1/2008 2:15:36 PM
Nice. I would like to see us land all 3* and 4* guys with one 5* (Xavier Nixon) in this class. Not that I don't like 2* prospects, b/c I know TOB and his staff are great talent evaluators, but I want that perception to be there that we are recruiting well, so that we get some more pub. A 2* prospect that I think is going to shine for us is Colby Jackson. Have you watched his highlight film. Holy shit he is just barreling through guys and he shows he has some speed along the way as well.^Donte Moss being bumped to 5*'s is something I don't quite understand. I mean Mario Williams was only a 4* DE, and he fucking dominated on the high school level and was a can't miss on kind of guy. Moss is definitely not as good as Mario Williams.[Edited on May 1, 2008 at 2:33 PM. Reason : ]

^ As for Moss being rated a 5 *, it could be this class is just thin on great defensive ends. Of course that's probably wishful thinking on my part, seeing as how he's committed to Crapel Hill and all.
5/1/2008 3:40:51 PM
We have offered only three running backs in the 09 class so far. That doesn't mean we won't offer some others. We could easily offer some when we see them in camp. I like to keep the NC guys from going outside the state when we have a great staff at their disposal right here. Finch could be the better every down back of the three, but that doesn't really matter right now since the one we get will be splitting time in the backfield with Underwood who, with his size, is capable of developing into our every down back, and most likely Brandon Barnes as our situational back ala Reggie Bush at USC.[Edited on May 1, 2008 at 9:31 PM. Does Bible always wait until Camp to offer a QB? I thought I saw where we offered Tom Savage, who committed to Rutgers, back in Feb or Mar. Any guesses as to who we will offer?
5/1/2008 9:35:06 PM
Apparently the coaches saw him in either our camp or another camp last year, which is why we offered him so early.
5/1/2008 9:40:04 PM
TE Arthur Fontaine, who's most famous for looking like a wigger, updated his recruitment and narrowed it to five schools. We, along with Rutgers, didn't make the cut. Here is the schools, in no particular order, that made the cut.Boston CollegeFlorida Georgia MarylandPenn StateJerrod Askew (a player I'd really like to get out of Virginia) was upgraded to a 4* LB and Glenn Carson was downgraded to a 3* LB on Scout.com.Also according to Rivals BC picked up their first commitment, DE Dillon Quinn who's a 4* on Rivals, but unrated on Scout. He had another offer from Virginia, and Notre Dame, Syracuse and Maryland were also recruiting him.http://ncstate.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=1&pr_key=78722

aph I've heard that Matt Ryan's little brother might be at our camp.
5/1/2008 10:22:35 PM
^hopefully Matt's family has good qb genetics like the Clausens or Glennons. It also be a nice smack in the face to BC. He is a QB right? I tried looking up his scout profile for the next couple of years and I couldn't find it.
5/1/2008 10:50:00 PM
Yeah he's a QB.Hmm...so the reason why Scout.com updated a lot of their rankings is b/c they just released their most up to date Top 300 list. A lot of players that we are recruiting got a bump in star ranking.http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/a.z?s=178&p=9&c=4&yr=2009Noticeable players that got a bump: Devonte Holloman 5*, Terry Shankle 4*, Kyle Koehne 4*, Justin Brown 4*, Stephon Gilmore 4*, Desmond Scott 4*, Jheranie Boyd 4*, Brooks Michel 3*, Quan Rucker 3*, Paul Carrezola 3*.Basically almost the entire first page of the players we are targeting is 3* prospects and above. 2 5*s, 9 4*s (we're bound to get a few of those), & 17 3*s are listing us at least Medium Interest. No 2*s yet.[Edited on May 1, 2008 at 10:58 PM. Reason : ]

Seems about right. You need two years of a foreign language. He probably hasn't taken any foreign language courses yet, so he'll need to take two next year. I guess they can be in the same language, but that means he'd be taking the first and second year of Spanish at the same time. What I think he'll probably do is take a first year courses in two languages. I took four years of foreign language on the high school level (French for the first two years and Latin the final two years) and can't speak any of it. I can read both pretty well though, so if I'm in France I might be able to get around based on signs.
5/2/2008 2:47:25 PM
You have to take two years of the same language. I would guess that other schools would have this same requirement though, right? Unless other schools have told him not to worry about it.....
5/2/2008 3:00:26 PM
i think it's saying you EITHER have to have two years of the same language in HS and demonstrate proficiency, meaning you can't have like 2 years of D- grades in spanish, OR you have to take the NCSU language placement exam on campus. and then he'll have to take 2+ semesters or spanish or whatever once he gets here.i can't imagine this school has gotten so full of itself that it requires 2 years of foreign language just to be admitted.
5/2/2008 3:22:49 PM
^ i think that is correct. i took three years in highschool and that was it, no ap/satII or test once i got here or anything like that.
5/2/2008 3:24:07 PM

I can't read rivals articles but from the intro it looks like robert crisp out performed most of the field at the Nike camp which Xavier Nixon attended.http://tinyurl.com/6hl8azAnd from the scout profile, it looks like we are in good position with him. RED TOM knows the key to winning football games is a good offensive line.http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/a.z?s=178&p=8&c=1&nid=3714113
5/3/2008 7:40:29 PM
if there's one thing you can say about TOB, it's that he understands the need for good oline play.
5/3/2008 7:53:32 PM
no, the one thing I always say is that you can always use 2 more boobs
5/3/2008 10:38:20 PM
The one thing that would make me happy is to see Crisp get an offer from UNC and he end up marking them as low interest. That guy will be huge for whichever team he ends up going to based on his size. He's 6-7 265 right now. He could easily get up to a good 305 and still have good enough mobility to be a pulling offensive lineman. At least we know that our QB of the future (Glennon) won't have any trouble looking over the O-linemen.
5/3/2008 11:12:30 PM
Xavier Nixon says he still high on us in the title of a rivals article. We need this kid badly. Got to keep the best kids in state and especially the best OTs.
