i want whatever the best possible mix is of hickson doing well and hickson doing decent this year...well enough to win lots of games, decent enough to want to stay around another year...course if that fool takes us on his back to the final four he can feel free to jump ship early
1/23/2008 4:38:53 PM
^^Powell used Boozer that game (and Dunleavy used the rest of our team). That game and bad advice from a father figure led to his premature leap.
1/23/2008 4:42:12 PM
Well, he's the best State player in the NBA I guess haha
1/23/2008 4:43:41 PM
Damien Wilkins is putting up better numbers (scored over 40 points one game this year) but he obviously transferred to Georgia so he's not really a State guyPowell gets some minutes nowadaysCed Simmons is still in the league
1/23/2008 4:48:33 PM
^pretty sure Ced is in the D-League, still the League, but not really...As for Hickson, his game could definitely use work in some areas, but his potential (NBA BUZZWORD!@!!) will probably have him leaving after this year, unfortunately. If he's smart, and likes Sid-Lowe well enough, he'll stick around and improve his draft stock (i.e. he'll get more guaranteed money).

I'll repost what I wrote earlier for those of you who don't know yet...

Hickson played horribly tonight. Absolutely abused from the get-go. No defensive presence and seemingly minimal impact on offense.
1/23/2008 10:47:14 PM
everyone has a minimal effect on offense, nobody has any fucking clue what to do. even when a play has a good night it isn't because our offense worked well, it was just that he was hot for a few shots when there were 4 seconds on the shot clock. i sit up in the cheap seats, and from our view the offense just looks like a bunch of fire ants running around in circles. Not sure why we are trying so hard to run all these set offenses through weak point gaurds.
1/23/2008 10:49:23 PM
i thought the played pretty well on the boards and O. he did get abused on D but he was crashing the boards and taking advantage of the opportunities he got on O. he can't pass himself the ball.

That reverse dunk yesterday was amazing.

you guys expect to much out of a single player in every single game. i dont hear you guys saying how fells didnt play how he usually does when he played against duke. just give the guys a break once in awhile
2/4/2008 11:02:18 AM
^ I said that like 20 times during the duke game.
2/4/2008 11:03:13 AM
fells' performance in the duke game was noted by quite a few.
2/4/2008 2:01:50 PM
hickson is the biggest cancer to the team. it all makes sense now. if you pay attention its clearly him that makes costner bad. all he does is stand around and call for the ball. when he gets it if he is doubled its over. he won't score on a double, he can't pass, handle or shoot a medium jump shot yet he attempts about 5 a game. how many times have you seen him force a bad shot on a double team with fells open in the corner? at least 5 a game. turnover machine that never met a shot he didn't like
2/24/2008 5:06:22 PM
Hickson is a good player, our team is just having issues as a whole. He sometimes can get a bit lazy in the post holding the ball too far out, but he is a rebounding machine, an efficient low post scorer, and a solid defender. This team is just struggling to take care of the basketball and plays horribly on the road.
2/24/2008 6:29:54 PM
i actually agree with howard/earl for once...im hoping hickson is def 1 and done this year
2/24/2008 6:33:09 PM
hickson is like a wreck on 40 during rush hour he just slows down all movement and makes our offense a clusterfuck.when he was out with mccauley in the middle the ball is going in out we have cuts and motion like last year. hickson completely destroys costner and mccauley. its not worth it.
2/24/2008 6:34:37 PM
well it's not hickson that is a cancer to this team. it's sidney's cluelessness on how to use him efficiently that is a cancer to this team. so yea...as baffling as it seems, i too actually hope he leaves next year. (either him or sid )
2/24/2008 6:35:45 PM
^you're an idiot and you're agreeing with Earl
2/24/2008 6:36:48 PM
i said my piece in other threads way before earl.earl's agreeing with me.although he's not. he's blaming hickson. i blame the coach for having no idea how to use him.
2/24/2008 6:37:48 PM
Hickson is a good player, and you guys really are just getting caught up in the heat of the moment if you want him to go pro. This team is having issues with the fundamentals (sloppy passing, poor team defense, etc.) No single individual is causing our team to play this poorly, it is our team not playing together, and making bad decisions that is making us play poorly. Losing one of our best players will not help us be a better team next year. Playing together will help us get better.
2/24/2008 6:39:16 PM
i don't trust sid to develop a whole new offense in the offseason that doesn't force feed it to the black hole every time down the floor.and i don't trust this "team" to sort out their chemistry issues in the offseason.hickson is a heckuva player but sidney makes him (and this team) look like garbage. i'm not getting caught up in the moment. i've suspected it for months and have been saying it for weeks.
2/24/2008 6:44:09 PM
Lot's of teams use the same offense Sidney Lowe uses (primarily a Flex Motion Offense) and many of the issues our team are experiencing aren't with the system they are in. A lot of the problems are between the ears. We need better communication and to protect the basketball. With a few off season adjustments I think Hickson could be great for us next year. I think the worst thing he does is in the post he can have a tendency to hold on to the ball too long with double teams and he sometimes holds the ball pretty far away from his body. These are both easily fixable, but it's hard to improve these things when our team is having so many issues during the season. Our weakness this year is definitely our point guard. The PG needs to set the tone for how the team plays, communicate with everyone on offense, and keep the team running smoothly. With improved PG play I think we would see JJ dominating much more offensively. Of course if Degand needs more time to rehab than expected or Hickson goes pro, I expect to see more of the same next year.
2/24/2008 6:58:09 PM
degand wasn't that good before he went down. enough with that revisionist history.the ball doesn't leave hickson's hands once he touches it (well it does but usually it's leaving in the hands of an opposing team's player, ie TURNOVER!). that should have been corrected a long time ago.

it just bothers me how he forces shots up, its like he wants to shoot EVERY touch...

I remember Degand having a really good game against Michigan State...one of our few bright spots. And Hickson would be retarded to go pro now. Maybe an early 2nd round pick the way he's been playing.
2/25/2008 9:51:30 AM
so does everyone still think hickson is gone after this year?
2/25/2008 9:51:37 AM
Sidney said last week that he has drawn a lot of attention from the scouts and he (jj) would have to speak with his grandmother after the season is over
2/25/2008 9:57:32 AM
i don't think it's in his best interest to go, but yeah i think he's gone.
2/25/2008 10:51:38 AM
i don't know anything about thisbut in my opinion, i don't think it'd be smart for him to leave so early when he still makes a ton of mistakes and plays sloppyi guess if the NBA thinks they can train him to not make stupid mistakes, then sure
2/25/2008 11:27:57 AM
i hope he is gone, team chemistry ruiner
2/25/2008 12:10:39 PM
you guys are fucking retarded
2/25/2008 12:24:53 PM
I hope Sidney leaves, team chemistry ruiner. We don't need to get rid of the most talented player on the team. If he doesn't fit within the scheme that worked last year, then its up to the coach to change the scheme to make it work. Its not like he's headcase that brings the team down with drama (like TO). The guy has a tremendous upside that Sid needs to make work for our team. And to be honest, Atsur was the team chemistry last year. He was a better coach on the court than Sid was off it. The difference when he was in and when he was out was night and day.All the problems with this team fall squarely on Sid's head.[Edited on February 25, 2008 at 1:00 PM. Reason : more]

we need a new coach and all new recruits and styles of play every year or two...keep it fresh...that way at least we won't get our hopes up during that coach's first yearwe'll also never win anything but who cares, our fans would treat 39-1 the same as 0-40 as long as that 1 loss was in the championship game...83 roolz![Edited on February 25, 2008 at 12:56 PM. 2/25/2008 1:07:51 PM
I dont understand why some of you guys are saying you want Hickson to go pro. yea, we'll be better off without one of the best recruits (and potential lottery pick) NC State, has had in years [Edited on February 25, 2008 at 1:28 PM. Reason : fds]
