b/w alaska and self titled? i might be a biased person to ask. Their S/T is still my favorite of their's right along with colors. Altho alaska is more similar to SC and Colors than the S/T is so you would like that one as well.

personally, i'm all about alaskatheir other stuff is great, and colors is what most people would call "a true epic", but Alaska is where my heart is [Edited on November 21, 2007 at 2:26 PM. Reason : s]
11/21/2007 2:26:36 PM
oh yea i def love alaska too no doubt whenever tommy sings "2005 welcome to perfection Prescribe me, indulge me You have won"i always have to sing along with that part, i just love the music and feel behind the end of 'the primer'
11/21/2007 2:35:21 PM
Okay i actually like colors, despite how much i've tried not to like this band.
11/21/2007 4:01:12 PM
why would you "try" not to like a band?
11/21/2007 4:51:02 PM
BTBAM really took a while to grow on me and just in general hardcore/metalcore but after listening and learning to play the music you cannot help but gain a new respect for the musicianship for all hardcore/metalcore. Tech metal is still above my comfort region when it comes to my playing abilities and I have been playing bass for 7 years but I still am impressed and find this style of music along with jazz a good indicator of how much I have improved and still can. As for the record it is very well put together and just like SC and Alaska they can go totally brutal to calm and raise the tension and alter the complete dynamics of the whole song. As for their self titled what makes is so different than the SC, Alaska, and Colors as I have heard others mention on this thread?
11/21/2007 11:59:01 PM
because i can't stand metalcore. for the most part.
11/22/2007 12:12:34 AM
really all that makes it different is that it is a more raw album. less technical but still a good mix of emotional metal/hardcore/and pure melodic parts. just something special, mainly for me because of when I heard it, I was just really getting into the whole metal and hardcore thing. Each album of theirs is good in its own respect tho.
11/22/2007 12:12:35 AM
Might need to pick it up and give it a listen if it leans more towards metalcore. I know that my first show I went to was at Ace's Basement with a crowd of about 100 or a less to see Hawthorne Heights, Silverstein, Emery, alexisonfire, and Adalin. After that my next show was Haste the Day and since then I have expanded out. It is funny because even though those bands aren't exactly the most talented or make me want to throw down I still enjoy listening to them every once in a while.
11/22/2007 12:43:45 AM
saw them tonight at the Orange Peel in Ashevillefirstly, the Peel has the best sounding PA i've heard in a long timesecondly, BTBAM was baller as alwaysthey played a killer ass medley at the end of the show as an encoreFTW
12/17/2007 2:11:54 AM
i ALMOST went. im only about an hour and 15 mins from the orange peel but i was really tired
12/17/2007 7:51:06 AM
i almost went just to see Behold the arctopus.
12/17/2007 11:03:04 AM
honestly arctopus is boring as crap live and often very sloppy. i need more substance to enjoy a band live. i respect their shred abilities but watching them finger tap on top of sweeps for 4 minutes straight nearly every song gets old fast.
12/17/2007 10:23:46 PM
finally purchased it along with the newest isis disc...haven't even put the isis cd in but for a minute...virdian/white walls is the coolest thing i have heard in awhile
12/30/2007 4:26:20 AM
yea i really really like that section a lot
12/30/2007 4:30:21 AM
also gave alaska and silent circus a listen today...its been awhile
12/30/2007 4:53:36 AM
This alaska instrumental is pretty rad.
3/18/2008 12:06:18 AM
I still need to get Alaska. I only have colors and SC. I was going to rip it from one of my buddies but never got around to it.
3/18/2008 6:56:21 AM
^^ agreed.^and yes you do. but you also need to get their self titled/first album. even now, more often than not that is the album i find myself listening to when i pull BTBAM stuff out. In all its raw unpolished glory oh and i got excited because i thought we were going to be opening for them in charlotte, but they changed venues and that place booked someone else. TONIGHT!!! TONIGHT!!!Go to Charlotte... see the show. I just got a call from my friend who saw them last night and he said they played the best show yet... even though every time I see them I leave thinking that it was the best show yet
4/10/2008 12:24:48 PM
oh yea i always love them live. ive just been driving a LOT lately, and ive seen them tons over the years (4x on their colors tours and prob next month in atlanta) . I also dont have anyone down in SC that wants to go with me really. :/Giant should be fun too. although i havent heard them since they became a 4 piece again.[Edited on April 10, 2008 at 12:41 PM. 4/10/2008 12:42:05 PM

4/10/2008 2:03:15 PM
they still playing the new album all the way through? as their set?
4/10/2008 2:03:51 PM
no, he told me that played something of s/t then sun of nothing through prequel, then aesthetic i "think" and definately mordecai. but that isn't a complete list.[Edited on April 10, 2008 at 2:05 PM. Reason : spleling]
4/10/2008 2:05:03 PM
hmm. that tempts me even more. last 4 times i saw them was full 'colors' plus an encore of either mordecai or selkies. and i love 'colors' but im ready to hear the old stuff live again. been a long while since ive heard them play something of s/t.
4/10/2008 2:10:15 PM
last time i saw them at green street i think i remember hearing shevanel cut a flip.
4/10/2008 2:13:44 PM
man. i dono if ive heard that live since the alaska cd release show. the green street cd release show date? i missed that. the charlotte one they played selkies.the best part about shevanel at the alaska cd release show was watching will goodyear on the side of the stage kind of playing along with the drums at certain points haha. i was hoping he would get on stage to sing the end of the song though hes got such a great singing voice[Edited on April 10, 2008 at 2:29 PM. 4/10/2008 2:15:38 PM
I like the song about throwing puppies into the air
4/10/2008 2:24:52 PM
the show last night was great. on the last song they teased with a few seconds of Alaska and then went straight into mordecai. they could have played a little longer in my opinion but the first hour was fuckin intense. very tight sounding live which always seems to be the case with these guys
4/10/2008 5:44:42 PM
time to head to carboro!
4/10/2008 7:19:47 PM
nice. i know so many people going tonight, bah! have fun
4/10/2008 7:26:11 PM
twas a good show
4/11/2008 1:02:18 AM
set? or at least any songs off s/t or silent circus?
4/11/2008 1:04:09 AM
played pretty much the entire colors cd, in fact they might have played it all, for the encore they hit some older stuff off of alaska and silent circus
4/11/2008 1:36:36 AM
word. if i can get a guarantee that they are playing at least 1 song from s/t ill probably go haha.
4/11/2008 1:37:53 AM
i went insane last night. best show i've been to in a long, long time.pretty sure JohnnyTHM was a witness to my shenanigans.[Edited on April 11, 2008 at 8:40 AM. Reason : asdlfkads]
4/11/2008 8:40:14 AM
^i witnessed your shenanigans.jesus, that show was awesome. (^^^ i don't remember them playing any songs from alaska)they played all of colors and 3 songs from silent circus as an encore...Lost Perfection a) Coulrophobiab) AnablephobiaMordecailast time i saw them they played aesthetic. shit was on point.
4/11/2008 8:52:24 AM
Last night's show made my heart happyEspecially after seeing WillemJoel go crazy... I was tempted to push him into the thrash pit[Edited on April 11, 2008 at 9:15 AM. Reason : asdf]

4/11/2008 10:12:07 AM
4/11/2008 11:53:18 AM
yes. it was awesome, and they kept going straight through the second song.
4/11/2008 2:52:21 PM
I want to go see the Richmond show with Opeth and Dream Theater but it is a Tuesday night I might just have to suck it up
4/11/2008 3:01:01 PM
that'd be an awesome show.
4/11/2008 9:53:01 PM
isnt there a bar in raleigh that has a sign over the jukebox that says "absolutely NO dream theatre songs"maybe champions.that always made me lol
4/11/2008 10:24:25 PM
You know, Informal Gluttony is a mighty fine trackI'm Krallum and I approved this message.
7/1/2013 2:36:21 PM
never heard of these guys, but they sound like dream theater with way shittier vocals, which I didn't think was possible.
