finally got a chance to listen... really, really like it. I'm struck by how simple and beautiful the entire album is, particularly when compared against Hail to the Thief. Early standouts are 15-step (I love the randonly inserted cheers of school kids), nude, and All I need. Faust Arp is a HUGE surprise (the strings in it remind me of River Man by Nick Drake). Reckoner is also a surprise. A lot of folks are complaining about Videotape, but I love the minimalist approach they've taken with it here. Thom's singing is in TOP FORM on this album.

House of cards + Jigsaw falling into place + videotape are the best 3 closers of radiohead since OK computer.

this album's really fucking good

as if my opinion matters

and my favorite radiohead songs are "no surprises" and "exit music" anyway, so I guess it makes sense that i like this

see, I thought about that

but my love for Motion Picture Soundtrack and How to Disappear Completely doesn't currently trump my love for this new album

once I've listened to the new stuff enough, that may change

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that Bodysnatchers is crap? It really stands out from the rest, but more importantly the guitars and arrangement are just incredibly uncreative. Anyone who plays reasonably well would understand. I think the rest of the album is amazing though.

I 'm with you when you say MPS is the best album closer of radiohead ever.. I love it. But I feel this album has a solid list of A+ songs..

Okay... I feel as though I can say this now after 13 listens. I am also confident in its "staying power" over the next several months.

This is my favorite Radiohead record since OK Computer.

Please, Kid A fans, don't shoot me... it's just my opinion.

Sales figures and reviews are already rolling in for the new Radiohead record-----

they "sold" 1.2 million copies in 24 hours time, average price paid was $8 per record.

They broke the weekly sales record for 2007, IN ONE DAY, I believe. Oasis and Nine Inch Nails have said they will release their next albums in same manner.

Rolling Stone was the first major publication with a review--- 4.5/5 stars.

Jesus.. they've really pulled it off.

^ it's too early for me to say where this one stacks up with the rest, but I think it's by far the best integration of their various styles. I can hear bits of each previous album in this one.

Really? I lliked what they did with it... especially the additional percussion effect that, to me, sounds like a projector reel after it comes undone. Maybe I'm reading/hearing too much in it, but that was what I thought they were going for there.

I don't think any song has really disappointed me, but I have never been a fan of Weird Fishes/Arpeggi. Not that I dislike the song, it just doesn't do it for me the same way the rest of the album does.

^^^ Man I couldn't agree more. I love videotape and almost every song on the album.. except probably Arpeggi.. maybe it needs some more sinking in At this point I would rate this among the top 3 albums.. Kid A, OK and this..

reckoner and nude are growing on me now.. This album is ingenious! I feel like it has the right mix of guitar and bleeps.. a perfect mesh of OK and Kid A so to speak.
