It wouldn't take more than 50-70k miles and an 01/02 model to get it in the mid 20's.Even carmax sells them for that.

well smg pump was way more problematic on SMG I and 100k warranty is also 6 years, whichever comes first, so technically it is out.

Yeah, I drove a demo after doing the 1200 mile run-in service last week. Didn't flog on it really, but eased the throttle from 1/4 to 3/4 in second gear just one time. It made me

we got a convertible m3 in here in gso last week, looks pretty sharp but i just cant understand the convertible m3 concept personally, but thats just me

I think the only color for an m3 is white and black.*I do like the e46 in red though.[Edited on May 15, 2008 at 8:09 AM. Reason : amazingly]
5/15/2008 8:08:28 AM
Yeah we have gotten 3 or 4 E93 M3's. I definately like the M version of the E93 much better than the 328 or 335.........but its still gay.
5/15/2008 10:06:49 AM
Anyone see the Comparo of the M3 vs IS-F, RS4, and C63? I'm glad someone finally tested all 4 of those together dammit. If I had to pick one I'd probably go with the C63 (unless I really didn't like the transmission). It smokes the M3 everywhere except the track, but how often would you track a car like that? And even if you track it, not like it'll be competitively timed
5/15/2008 12:29:57 PM
^M3 is not only about power. It's a driver's car, C63 is still playing catch up. It is better balanced, sportier, and FAR better value 10 years down the road.
5/15/2008 2:33:47 PM
Eh, to see any real difference you'd have to drive them back to back. Seems like most of the rags say the C63 is just barely behind the Bimmer in handling.
5/15/2008 2:38:58 PM
This is more on the M5, and I'll probably get flamed to hell for this, but...I drove a brand new M5 about two weeks ago. It's not as hard as you think... I was at another dealership poking around (I happened to be wearing a suit from an early engagement that day) and the salesman offered to refer me to someone at BMW when I told him I didn't like what they had on the lot. A salesman isn't likely to refuse a testdrive to a referral. Anyway, I liked the car overall, but the driving dynamics weren't too impressive for what I was expecting... it felt slower than the C5 Z06 I've driven, even though it probably isn't. The motor felt like an Rx-8 to me--practically gutless under 4k but with obviously a lot more top end, and this is coming from a rotary owner. That kind of powerband is fine in some types of cars but for something 4000lbs it was unpleasant. They probably have what, 300 lb/ft of torque actually at the wheels? Big cars feel slow to me unless they have torque and/or aggressive gearing. What really did the car in for me is the overwhelming interior gadgets (first time I've messed with idrive) and the weight. G35 sedan is slower and isn't as sophisticated or nice inside, but for some reason I enjoy driving it more.
5/15/2008 3:34:02 PM
You should take a E63 for a test drive, or better yet a used E55 AMG which had one hell of a punch down low.
5/15/2008 4:22:28 PM
5/15/2008 5:40:50 PM
like driving a G35 more than an M5? I think you drove a 525i.
5/17/2008 11:30:58 AM
^^^^was it an M5 with smg or a manual? trying to just hop in and drive an smg isnt something easily done the first time, that and your being overwhelmed by the idrive probably didnt lead you to all the M settings that are there that really make the car fun to drive. On top of that, its a 5L v10 engine built for revs, so while it does have silly power down low the car really doesnt get happy until you get up over 4k on the tach, but even then youve got more than enough rev range left to really appreciate what it can do. there are several suspension settings as well as horsepower profiles to choose from, pluse the active seats are pretty cool when the bolsters slide out to hold you in a corner.trust me, any car you can break wheels loose in in first through third is going to be a hlluva lot more fun to drive than a g35

I couldn't possibly take that list seriously, considering they predict the resale value on the R32 to be high...Ahmet
5/18/2008 7:57:33 PM
huh? last R32 (MKIV) is still selling close it's original invoice from 2004 with tons of miles. in fact im actually surprised it is not on very top.

Saw my first E92 M3 on the road yesterday. It was a convertible (boo) and was that silvery blue color (double boo). Otherwise nice.

^ Think about what youre saying. Its the ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE. It doesn't actually count as a high revving engine. Sure it makes peak power at >4krpms but it has an V10.[Edited on May 20, 2008 at 6:25 PM. Reason : .]

^^ if you drove the car, you may agree with me. Or you may not. To me, in a straight line it's not much different than an s2000 except the speedo moves faster when you floor it. Yes I know on paper it's a second faster in the 1/4 and at least 12-15mph faster in the traps... but when you drive it you aren't like omfg V10
5/20/2008 9:41:16 PM
^^haha, thanks. I wasn't entirely sure but went with it anyway.^You should drive an E55 or E63. The torque that thing has is crazy (esp. E55). Plus it'll show nothing but taillights to M5s, especially from a roll.
5/20/2008 11:45:50 PM
what? M5 will pull on E63 amg, especially on the highway. e55 isn't even a competition. http://youtube.com/watch?v=o0l_wcJu_S0&feature=relateddid you mean M3?
5/21/2008 12:42:45 AM
^ E55 AMG was recorded at 4.2 for 0-60. I suspect the E63 AMG is even faster, as the C63 AMG has recorded 3.9 sec.I think those numbers are better than the M5s.Anybody have official numbers from any of the top mags?
5/21/2008 10:56:22 AM
Photoshop showing what the facelifted M3 sedan will look like when it comes out in a few months. The taillights are being updated on the 3-series, so they will also receive the same changes in the M3:If red x: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=142999

some great movies to download. interviews with M-division directors, managers, designers. show of facility, process, design, history. WMV file (283 MB) is crystal clearhttp://tinyurl.com/57tl5yM FTW!

^^^^Not a chance man. E55 and the E63 show taillights to the M5 every time. Check numbers of any magazine, or 1/4 mile times posted on MBWorld.org.Or if you dont think those are credible enough watch the Top Gear episode where they tested both at the same time and the MB pulled big time on the Bimmer.
