^^fuck that trade, don't do it

^I'd start weathers because Cincy has Harang starting tomorrow
Harang has pitched very well against Pittsburgh in his career

yeah thats what im doing

what do you think of this trade im proposing?

i would send

- David Weathers (RP, Cincy)
- John Buck (C, Kansas City)

i would get

- Chris Capuano (SP, Milwaukee)
- Victor Martinez (C/1B, Cleveland)

i already have russell martin and lance berkman but i dropped sexson cause he has been sucking ass and i need a backup at 1B...i also just picked up mariano and also have wickman, torres and reyes for some nice closers

you'll need to offer more than that.....Buck is a part-time player, Weathers is a low-end closer at best. I wouldn't take both those guys for VMart alone much less VMart and Capuano.

any way you can bench bill hall? i would drop wiggy for upton though. he can hit homers and steal bases.

the way i usually run my team is have just one offensive bench player that can play at least 2 positions, cause i value pitching quite a bit, so i'd have to drop a pretty good pitcher to make room for upton, and i don't value hall or wigginton that high

surely there's an everyday 1st baseman available. thorman splits time with craig wilson, so until he's playing everyday i wouldn't go that route

i'd go either loretta or young, depending on if you need average or power numbers. probably da meat hook is better overall

^^ I'd pick up Kendrick and sit on him until he's off the DL. He is significantly better than the rest of those guys you listed. If you need someone right away, I might go for Hillenbrand because he was been hitting pretty well for the past week or so. Stay away from all the part time guys like Pena, Thorman, Garko, Clark, etc.

OK, I need advice.

Should I trade Ortiz for John Maine and Mark Teixiera?

Teixiera is down, but has hit .300 in the two prior seasons. John Maine is lights out. Is it worth a trade for Ortiz?

i'd almost do it. most would hold on to ortiz but tex should still put up numbers over the course of the season. and maine is money.

Yeah, last week my pitching staff went 2 - 7 with a 6ERA and a whip of 1.8. Odd week for them. I dropped kip wells the main source of that suckery.

But I have hudson... adding Maine would really make that pitching staff top notch.

But Ortiz...

Other opinions?

I think I might go for that trade, here is something I was just reading about Tex that I think would be helpful with your decision:

Quote :
" By now, most of us know that Teixeira saves his best power for last – in his previous four seasons, he hit 53 home runs combined in the first three months of the season and 86 combined home runs in the final three months of the season – but a 21-game home run drought to open the season was much more of a limp start than could even be expected. Teixeira truly is one of those guys that heats up with the weather. His career OPS climbs with each passing month (.792 in April; .842 in May; .873 in June; .906 in July; .928 in August; .962 in Sept.). So, if he stays true to his past, we can take solace in the fact that his worst is behind us. "

and even though I dont like that Maine has never pitched more that 90 innings in a season (he already has 33+ innings this season), he is pitching for the Mets who will give him lots of run support and I think his confidence is sky high right now.

here's something from the same article as above about Maine:

Quote :
" Well, after moving to 4-0 on Sunday with seven shutout innings against the Nationals, Maine is on pace for 26 wins. And, while I still think 24 wins is out of the question, I think you have to start thinking that 18-20 is not so far-fetched. His tenure with the Mets has produced 123.1 IP with an ERA at 2.99, a 1.11 WHIP, 101 K and a BAA below the Mendoza Line. A former top prospect with Baltimore, Maine turns 26 on May 8th, a logical time for him to be coming into his own. Armed with the league's 10th-best run support (7.56), it's easy to believe that Maine's early-season magic can continue. "

What do you guys think of this trade:

I would give up:
Johnny Damon
Carlos Zambrano

I would get in return:
Grady Sizemore
Jon Garland

I think the trade is close, and even though I dont like Garland a whole lot, Damon's back might keep him out of a lot of games this season.

I think the best player is Sizemore but see if you can get a little upgrade for Garland. To go from Zambrano to Garland is like 100 strikeouts.

My team is hurting today:
Damon, out
Swisher, out
M Giles, out
Johjima, out
C Guillen, out (although he did pinch hit)

^ouch, there seem to be a LOT of players getting injured this season...or maybe I'm just noticing it more since I'm paying more attention to the entire league this year

anyways, what do you think about this counteroffer:

I would give up:
Johnny Damon
Carlos Zambrano

I would get in return:
Grady Sizemore
Curt Schilling

that closes the gap between the strikeouts, while still giving him the better pitcher and me the better hitter

Ethics question: If you're out of the running for a playoff spot, do you feel compelled to unload your talent to help teams above you? I was just asking b/c I know a lot of people abandon their teams if they suck, and even though I don't abandon my teams, maybe I can get some decent talent instead of superstars.

I've never done it, and I've heard of people doing it but I've never seen it happen in any league I've been in (football, baseball, basketball)

from what I've been told before though, the commissioner of the league will usually lock up the team if the manager tries to drop their players to help out other teams

If you can get the other guy to bite, then it is a steal for you. Zambrano is very good, but also remember that he led the league in walks and plays for the Cubs so his win total may get surpressed. Damon is overrated other than he scores a ton of runs. Sizemore is a fantasy stud obviously and Schilling looks healthy this year and with that Sox team should be good for 15-18 wins.

Rule 4.12 (a) states: A game shall become a suspended game that must be completed at a future date if the game is terminated ... (due to) weather, if a regulation game is called while an inning is in progress and before the inning is completed, and the visiting team has scored one or more runs to take the lead.

I'm still waiting to get a reply back from the manager...if he doesnt bite on that one I might have to go back to the Sizemore/Garland for Damon/Zambrano

alright, what do you guys think about this trade (keep in mind that I am in desperate need for a closer, my only 2 healthy RP's are Benitez, Broxton and Henry Owens from the Marlins):

I would give up:
David Ortiz
Nick Markakis
Brandon Webb
Jonathan Broxton

I would get in return:
Derrek Lee
Manny Ramirez
Al Reyes
Cole Hamels

Is that anywhere near an even trade? I am good at putting together trades in fantasy football and basketball, but for some reason I always skew my baseball trades to my advantage

in one league I'm in:

offered schilling and zito

give up huston street and hudson

I don't usually like tradingfor players at the same position, and right now Hudson is probably the best player in that trade, with Schilling right behind him. is zito worth that much more than Street? I have hoffman and Ray in the bullpen also, and we have to have very small rosters in this league so something like ~7 saves will probably always win a week. I'd have to find another closer to make sure i get there.

I'm thinking no

The first team that I made is in last place like a lot of people predicted, so I'm trying to make some moves in order to get out of this funk.

First Trade Offer:
Getting
A. Hill (2B, SS - Tor)
E. Byrnes (OF - Ari)
J. Bonderman (SP - Det)

Giving Up
B. Abreu (OF - NYY)
C. Zambrano (SP - CHC)
A. Sanchez (SP -Fla)
-----------------------------
Second Trade Offer
Getting
T. Hudson (SP - Atl)
B. Wagner (RP - NYM)

Giving Up
J. Nathan (RP - Min)
S. Olsen (SP - Fla)

What you think about them? Good? Very bad (probably)? Let me know.

LOL, niether of those trades are going to work. You are giving up crap/underperformers in order to get solid players.

In order to make a trade work, you have to be willing to part with someone that is actually doing well.

i'd say go back to the drawing board on those trades, or just hope the other guy is a complete idiot.

^Thanks. I'm freaking out, so I guess I need to do some spring cleaning. First thing I just did was get rid of any Marlins pitching I had. Olsen & Sanchez gone. I'm seriously considering dealing Wang or Mussina considering how bad the Yankees are doing. I haven't done it yet because I know how the Yankees can get hot all of a sudden. There's a lot of season left, and sure, this team is in last place right now, but maybe I can play my way out.

Quote :
"I hope you didn't draft that team on your own (auto draft?) or that your league is atleast 16 teams. Otherwise you're screwed."

Quote :
"lord, i hope that's a 20 team league."

Sorry to doubt you guys.
