huh?

Every time we I end up responding to troll twista, you always make a comment about ignoring it.Why do you even have to make the comment? Do you feel somehow above the argument by not getting in the argument directly?
2/14/2007 2:17:45 PM
yes.
2/14/2007 2:20:18 PM
So I guess the only way to get me to ignore him is for you to not ignore it all yourself...oh wait...
2/14/2007 2:32:46 PM
here's a question: should there be public specialized schools of any sort?
2/14/2007 2:34:13 PM
I think he's saying that you're the one making the big deal out of it and that you should spearhead this mission to get him suspended yourself, that or get over itif thats what you do though, go ahead and get yourself suspended while you're at it

2/14/2007 2:51:40 PM
i think its perfectly fine to have a school that emphasizes math...or a school that emphasizes science....i just think the territory becomes a little shakier when a school specializes in something a little more disconnected from the typical courseload and is still a public school...course i guess as long as nobody is forced to go there based on where they live then anybody would have the option of not going to that particular school
2/14/2007 3:04:37 PM
i'm pretty sure no one would be forced to go to this school.
2/14/2007 3:06:42 PM
[Edited on February 14, 2007 at 3:16 PM. Reason : this is so fucking poinltess]
2/14/2007 3:13:47 PM
I'm absolutely positive no one will be forced to go to this school. Thus, the "magnet" title.
2/14/2007 3:48:16 PM
i guess i was misled by the initial article which doesnt mention 'magnet' or 'immersion' but DOES mention 'public'course it was a pretty damn short article so no surprise it doesnt go into detail
2/14/2007 3:50:02 PM
There's that whole "knowing the subject you're debating" thing, again.
2/14/2007 3:59:31 PM
2/14/2007 4:01:26 PM
Boone have you debated anything in this thread? Or just demeaned people who asked questions? By the way if you go into a thread and aren't explicitly familiar with the subject matter, I guess you shouldn't post in there. I mean, this place isn't for learning or hearing new perspectives...its about people who already know everything, agreeing with each other, right? ]
2/14/2007 4:04:16 PM
Of course you can post. But don't you think those posts would be questions because of your lack of knowledge rather than statements feigning it?[Edited on February 14, 2007 at 4:08 PM. Reason : a]
2/14/2007 4:07:26 PM
Serious question: now that you've realized what this school is about, is there anything to debate?
2/14/2007 4:07:49 PM
^if theres nothing to debate then why have you posted in this thread at all
2/14/2007 4:11:47 PM
To correct the misunderstandings. A couple people thought that this school was some sort of violation of the Constitution. Now they don't.So your answer's "no" then?
2/14/2007 4:16:05 PM
actually i could still have some discussions about this...i think everyone but you enjoys the subject and discussing it...but since you know everything there is to know about it, theres really no point for you to be here...you're already dumber just from even addressing us peons
2/14/2007 4:19:16 PM
So what exactly is there left to discuss?
2/14/2007 4:22:54 PM
I agree with TreeTwista~CW
2/14/2007 4:24:37 PM
^^well we could discuss why the fuck you have a raging hard-on for immersion schools
2/14/2007 4:26:06 PM
2/14/2007 4:39:36 PM
2/14/2007 4:49:14 PM
i no rite. But that's a different can of worms. We're dumb if we trust academia, you know.

bttt(since the Georgia school thread is going on)[Edited on March 9, 2007 at 4:11 PM. Reason : .]
3/9/2007 4:11:14 PM
You realize this thread impugns your POV more than the other?
3/9/2007 4:23:57 PM
nopei just wonder how many people in this thread saying "yeah whats wrong with an arabic immersion school?" are going to be in the other thread like "this is a danerous idea and serves no place in the public school"you act like I'm the only hypocrite or something?
3/9/2007 4:27:13 PM
First, this is an entire charter type of school that also deals with the culture, and the stated reason for this much different (to potentially have more pro-American people to serve as translators and experts in arabic culture for future affairs with the mid-east), and secondly, most people in the other thread aren't against the Bible class, but are pointing out it likely originates for reasons other than just teaching about history.
3/9/2007 4:39:47 PM
^^i have no problem with either, as long as they're implemented in a scholarly/secular way.[Edited on March 9, 2007 at 4:42 PM. Reason : 're]
3/9/2007 4:42:38 PM
3/9/2007 4:53:09 PM
also arabic isn't a religion
3/9/2007 6:37:15 PM
I don't particularly see the value in an Arabic immersion school here in the US, unless this was pushed by the US Military to train and recruit native Arab linguists.
3/9/2007 6:40:12 PM
^^yeah but its been mentioned plenty of times in this thread that the arabic immersion school involves the entire arabic culture...not just the language, but the entire culture...which includes Islamn
3/9/2007 6:49:12 PM
as would be expected. i have no problem with teaching about religion in school. it's a very relevant topic for understanding history, literature and art. the problem comes when religion is taught as truth or history.
3/9/2007 6:51:46 PM
i agreei mean i'm an agnostic...it just seems that most people in TSB (me included) have different views on very similar situations based on their own personal opinions
