lol why ? the firm is in charge. fowler is probably just telling them what the firm said. if the talk of it being a done deal ~the Carolina game. they've had a little bit to look aroundthey did make a point to remind everyone that chower's wife is in fact living in Raleigh now.

they're gonna talk about Cowher on PTI soon.
11/27/2006 5:31:28 PM
hmmm, Cutcliffe is a Bama alumni...now that the coaching job there is open...
11/27/2006 5:42:20 PM
I would personally be pretty reluctant to go with Paul Johnson as a high choice. After Cowher, Fisher would be a much better candidate IMO. I know PJ is at Navy, but Navy has beaten very few winning teams since he has been there. The impressive (for Navy) Win-Loss records are as much a function of scheduling as coaching. In recent years Navy has clearly chosen the path of playing weaker schedules to get bowl eligible. How his schemes and coaching will work against an ACC schedule is unclear at best. He certainly merits consideration, and I will support him if he is fired, but I would be quite hesitant to move him to the top of the "after Cowher" list.Somewhat unrelated, I have seen Mike Sherman's name floated as well.
11/27/2006 5:48:35 PM
Nobody has explained why this Jimbo Fisher guy is supposed to be so great. I just have a feeling he'd be another Amato. Does he have a reputation as a disciplinarian? If not, we shouldnt even give him the time of day.
11/27/2006 7:15:25 PM
does anyone think we will pull our first choice? i imagine that after the basketball fiasco, we wont show our cards as early as we did before. i guess when we start hearing stuff from the credible sources, deals will be close to final.

they got lucky to beat them actually, it was ECU players fault that was a loss
11/27/2006 11:54:14 PM
well, apparently Bama is NOT interested in Cutcliffe, they want a bigger name, like Saban... and the talk about Cutcliffe and State was on the radio again today... I think he would be GREAT, but would need a DC
11/27/2006 11:56:34 PM
^Saban isnt going anywhere
11/27/2006 11:59:08 PM
I dont think so either, but thats the type of names they are looking for
11/27/2006 11:59:55 PM
I bet you bitches are irked that they are making a big deal about the Bama position but havent mentioned State
11/28/2006 12:48:14 AM
not really.. The Bama job puts just about any college football job search in the backseat..If we dont get Cowher then any other coach we want just got tougher to get because of the Bama opening..
11/28/2006 12:50:18 AM
well, look at that, someone else who can be objective on TWW... its refreshing
11/28/2006 12:51:10 AM

^^well I would hope that even the most delusional NC State fan would understand that we can't compete with Alabama in football.. At least with their history.

I wonder how Paul Johnson is on discipline. He doesnt really have to worry about it at the Naval Academy.
11/28/2006 8:27:14 AM
Bama > MiamiBama also has a shit ton more money then Miami.850the Buzz is reporting cowher to say no to NC State today although im not sure where they are getting their info b/c they are notorious for just regurgitating what the Paper says
11/28/2006 9:26:50 AM
I think Bama has nicer facilities and better tradition, but I'd almost say Miami is a better job. Maybe not as 'historic', but better. Bama gives you about 3 years to win a national championship... plus Miami is sitting on the largest hotbed of talent in the country. I'd probably take Bama if I had the choice, but for a career-oriented person may not think the same way

PackPride's newest premium article was letting me view it moments ago even though I am not premie, so if anyone is interested you could give that a try. It is basically a long run down of possibilities, nothing too special, worth the read though.

here is an interesting convo I had with a very smart wolfpack writer regarding Jim Donnan10:51:48 AM) Evan: oh i meant to ask you about this, what did Donnan do that makes the old wolfpackers not like him(10:53:02 AM) scott: I had heard that he wanted the job when C'O'Cain got it and when they moved so quickly and he didn't get a sniff, he was muy pissed ... then he felt like Marshall got hosed when they played down here and was very bitter about it and made some very public comments denigrating NC State(10:53:16 AM) scott: you hear rumors about other things he said/did in a public manner, but I wonder how accurate those are(10:53:45 AM) Evan: yea, b/c from his radio show which i listen ot on the weekends he says nothing but good stuff(10:53:49 AM) Evan: about state(10:54:07 AM) scott: I wonder how much of it is urban legend, to be honest(10:54:27 AM) Evan: he's been out of the game for a while but i think he'd get us 8 wins every year(10:55:06 AM) scott: I agree ... I think he would be a very nice fit(10:55:26 AM) scott: I was always confused by all the perceptions around here about him(10:55:35 AM) Evan: me2(10:55:50 AM) Evan: i mean he was fired at UGA for winning 8 games every year(10:55:54 AM) Evan: id take that in a heart beat(10:57:11 AM) Evan: people on state fans said he turned down our job when o'cain got it(10:57:38 AM) scott: I don't think that's true ... I'm pretty sure Dick Sheridan was adamant that C'O'Cain be the guy to maintain continuity[Edited on November 28, 2006 at 12:11 PM. Reason : ..]

I work at a Law Firm full of UNC alums and they are stoked about the new staff. Butch Davis seems to have made more ties while out of coaching and now they have John Blake coming in, the recruiting guru from Nebraska. I think if we want a big name, we have to go out and take it. We have to be competitive.

Donnan is horrible, could never win any game that mattered
11/28/2006 3:06:27 PM
^ Agreed Donnan could never beat UT or Florida while at Georgia. He always beat the Vandys, Ole Miss, Kentuckys, GTs every year, but he could never get over the hump against the big boys. I'd rather not have him as coach although I'm sure he could make us into a consistent bowl team, but never a championship team.
11/28/2006 3:16:25 PM
exactly
