1/30/2007 7:03:18 PM

I still say if you get a wooden leg, I'm going to throw darts at it.
1/30/2007 8:14:03 PM
fuckin sick bottom line i dont like it!
1/30/2007 8:44:35 PM
I wished I took pics of my legs after surgery... But they weren't as gruesome as yours ivan.
1/31/2007 2:04:35 PM
I'm pretty sure Hayes is about tired of being first on the scene. Stop wrecking bikes you dumbass. Though we did go back to try to find those bone fragments. Sorry. Some damn raccoon got 'em I guess. [Edited on January 31, 2007 at 2:40 PM. Reason : .]
1/31/2007 2:39:41 PM
that woulda been a sweet souvenier, lol.i'm going to ask if they'll take pics of the next surgery.
1/31/2007 2:54:06 PM
Seriously. We picked through all the busted glass, plastic, metal. Did our best, but the bones were gone.
1/31/2007 2:55:55 PM
that's gross, guys
1/31/2007 3:11:50 PM
lol
1/31/2007 3:17:18 PM
I think Hayes said something like "This is just weird" as we were on the side of the road, sifting through the leftover carnage. "Shut up and find the damn bones."
1/31/2007 3:21:57 PM
HAHA
1/31/2007 3:45:13 PM
this page makes me I am really glad you are ok though...
1/31/2007 3:47:03 PM
lol that's hilarious. that sounds like some shit I'd like my friends to do
1/31/2007 3:51:23 PM
would have been awesome if you found the bone. Drill a hole through it and wear it around your neck. Then just say to people "You want a piece of me?" and hand them the bone. HAHA or "I could kick you where the sun don't shine, literally". Come on, some more phrases ppl!

update:going back under the knife this coming wednesday morning for the bone graft. i'll be back in the hospital a few days, then another couple of months and i'll be able to try walking again finally. there's a small chance i'll need a second bone graft procedure a few months out since it's a rather large gap, but most people don't.surprisingly, i'm told my hip/pelvis (area of bone harvesting) will be more painful than the leg. guess i'll find out soon enough. doctor said they peel away the abdominal muscles and go in there with what basically amounts to a wood chisel and a mallet. they'll be making a totally new incision from knee to ankle for the procedure a few inches away from the existing one. should add nicely to the scenery that's already there, lol. i'll get a fresh metal rod also for infection purposes and in case the current one has been fatigued by any accidental weight i've put on it with no bone support.
2/19/2007 1:48:06 AM
don't forget, ask to see if you can get some nifty pictures of the surgery! I have a fairly strong stomach... I think.
2/19/2007 2:00:51 AM
yeah, i plan to take my camera. we'll see, i don't see why they wouldn't unless they just don't want to bother.
2/19/2007 2:05:49 AM
camera might not be sterile for being in the OR... You should ask if there would be any way to make it sterile or if they had a sterile camera to take pics for you... Hey, I just thought of a new business. Taking pics of ppl in surgery and put it in one of those memorable gift cards like you see at roller coasters in theme parks. HAHA
2/19/2007 2:27:18 AM
i have pictures that the dr. took during surgery on my arm.
2/19/2007 11:36:32 AM
word.it's not like an operating room is totally sterile anyway.
2/19/2007 4:34:45 PM
yeah, but if they are doing bone graphs, I bet they are a bit more cautious about the steriliness of the room. Pretty sure if you get an infection in ur bone marrow, it'll be bad. but then again, I'm not a doctor. Although, I'm qualified for full BS.
2/19/2007 5:10:27 PM
yeah, i mean i'm sure they're as careful as possible, especially since i've already was/am fighting a pretty nasty infection in there (pseudomonas).i really doubt a camera is any more un sterile than me, the hospital gown, the bed they roll you in on, etc., etc. though.
2/19/2007 5:16:54 PM
good luck to BBR on today, the day of his surgery
2/21/2007 2:06:14 PM
gl f00
2/21/2007 2:07:51 PM
break a leg!
2/21/2007 3:06:21 PM
it looks like the leg is fakegood luck today!
2/21/2007 3:32:36 PM
well, things didn't go too well.when they went in, they found some spots of infection still around. as a result, they were unable to do the bone graft. they did go ahead and cut out/clean up the bad looking tissue.they're waiting to see the exact results of the cultures taken before planning a course of action, but they're hoping to just do heavy anti biotics via iv and go for it again monday.depending on the results, it's possible i'll be released and have to wait a few more weeks which will suck. i am enjoying my morphine drip though.
2/21/2007 6:45:56 PM
Damn dude.Is this what the morphine button looks like?
2/21/2007 6:48:10 PM
DAMN that sucks. On a lighter note, did you suggest they pour gas on it?
2/21/2007 6:50:28 PM
^^lol, something like that.^haha, yeah and light a match. i'm about ready to say the hell with it and cut the damn thing off (not really).
2/21/2007 6:55:26 PM
man that sucks. Hopefully once this bone graph is done, it would be smoothing sailing after that as in the terms of everything getting back on track. did you ask about taking pics?
2/21/2007 10:17:34 PM
yeah, they said no. against hospital policy or something.
2/21/2007 10:28:49 PM
Hang tight, you bastard. I know you're sick and tired of all this crap.
2/21/2007 10:30:57 PM
Keep on keepin on man........
2/21/2007 10:40:52 PM
so far so good. the cultures haven't grown anything yet.doctors think it was possibly just a negative reaction and irritated tissue to the cement filler where the missing bone is, and not infected tissue after all.time will tell.
2/22/2007 10:52:41 PM
nice.
2/22/2007 10:58:33 PM
just a question, forgive my ignorance. but after all of these surgeries, will you have metal plates, pins, or screws in your leg? or they using new organic stuff that I've seen to rebuild bone material on discovery health...
