It just blows my mind that people think this guy is just some random third string running back that the opposing team doesn't worry about. It's plain as day this guy disrupts an entire defense.

i think some of the same people that are saying Bush is a great NFL running back also consider Vick a great NFL quarterbackwhereas someone like me says "Vick is a great FOOTBALL PLAYER but not a great QB because he doesnt have the accuracy that most NFL QB's have" and "Bush is becoming a great NFL FOOTBALL PLAYER but not a great RB because he hasnt shown he can carry the ball 20 times a game and get tough yards inside
10/16/2006 5:55:09 PM
If Reggie Bush's name was Marquis Colston nobody would even mention him except for the one play where he returned a punt for a touchdown. He has 3.0 yards per carry when there's another guy in the same backfield with the same O-line facing the same defenses and averaging 4.9 yards per carry while carrying the ball more often and being the third down/goal line back. Bush is only average when it comes to yards per catch for a running back. The only thing he's shown he is good at is punt returning. Blaming his bad production on him being a rookie is a cop out after giving him all that hype. Many rookies have put up better numbers with worser teams. No, he didn't turn the Saints around. The Saints were an 8-8 team with Aaron Brooks. They were consistently hovering around that record until last year when Deuce got injured and Katrina left them in shambles practicing on high school fields and playing in stadiums hundreds of miles from home. To claim Bush is the reason their offense is so productive is ludicrous, when it has more to do with the fact that they have three pro bowlers in Horn, McAllister, and Brees plus the most productive rookie on their team, Marquis Colston.

worser, really? i mean come on. worser?

The keys are right next to each other.

Aside from returning punts, whats the difference between Reggie Bush and say.....Kevin Jones? Anybody remember him? Well, right now he has 31 receptions and is averaging 6.7 yards per catch. These numbers are only slightly below Bush's and he's doing it in Detroit of all places. He doesn't have Dre Brees throwing him the ball or Deuce McAllister in the backfield with him. No, has John Kitna and BRIAN CALHOUN (and no, I didn't have to look that up believe it or not). There are three main differences: 1. His name isn't Reggie Bush 2. He's averaging 4.2 yards per carry3.He isn't making 8.5 million a yearReggie Bush is basically a utility player. He fills a role but gets treated like a Godsend. Kevin Jones is a true NFL Running Back, but no one notices. As for NFL defense paying special attention to Bush, sure they do. They say "this is Reggie Bush, he has good hands, and he moves well in space," just like they do for Kevin Jones. Then they play cover 2 and have a linebacker pick him up in the zone. Again, just like Kevin Jones. It's far to early to tell how good Reggie Bush will be, he has potential but the jurry is still out. As of now he is overpayed and overhyped.

he is one by choice...by choice of the coaches because they realize he cant produce as well as mccalister...he sucks it up in the backfield

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/0610/gallery.nfl.rookiewatch6/content.10.htmlThis list is a fucking joke.Reggie Bush doesn't do shit last week but he gets the #1 spot for being a glorified decoy.ESPN needs to stop sucking his cock.

^also, SI
10/20/2006 9:47:16 AM
^^seriously...Devin Hester gets the game-winning touchdown against Arizona and he's ranked like 8th
10/20/2006 10:05:11 AM
When Reggie Bush scores the game winning touchdown off a punt return it's huge news. When Devin Hester does it, the media doesn't care.
10/20/2006 10:11:26 AM
When Reggie Bush takes a handoff and runs off right tackle for a gain of 1 yard, it's big news. When Reggie Bush is on the sideline drinking Gatorade, that flavor sees a 25% increase in supermarket sales throughout the southeast. When Reggie Bush hi-fives Marques Colston after he (MC) scores a touchdown, the bookkeepers get confused and debate whether or not the TD should actually go to Bush. When Reggie Bush eats Subway, Jared Fogle loses 5 pounds.

^who is a better NFL RUNNING BACK...Deuce McAllister or Reggie Bush?
10/20/2006 1:53:34 PM
i would say mcallister due to his strength and instincts
10/20/2006 1:57:02 PM
i would agreenot to say bush isnt a really good player, but vick is a good player, but not an excellent passing QBi still think one of the beefs with Bush is he is hyped up to be Walter Payton...the hype is just dumb but thats the current mass media landscape we are in
10/20/2006 1:58:25 PM
yeah but when he gets his strength up and gets that invaluable experience people in NO will be like "Deuce who?"
10/20/2006 2:01:35 PM
Deuce is also capable - and proven - at doing the same things Bush is getting praised for.Caught 50 passes per year from 02-04, and was on pace for 64 in 2005 - I'll let anyone in our studio audience take a guess as to why he isn't catching it as much this yearAveraged 24 yards per KR as a rookie (they actually don't allow Bush to return kickoffs, and returning punts is different, but the skill set is there)Lined up all over the field when he and Ricky Willams played together... and as a rookie, to boot.^ I doubt that, because Deuce is EXTREMELY popular all throughout the Gulf Coast. Every preseason the team would take some players around the Gulf Coast, and Deuce was always THE guy. All the king's horses and all the king's Heisman winners won't change that.[Edited on October 20, 2006 at 2:08 PM. Reason : ~]

Bush will do all that way betterplease dont act like hes not going to
10/20/2006 2:07:28 PM
We don't know that yet.People like you - that are itching to hand him the keys, just like that - are the reason why we get bullshit rhetoric from SI and ESPN already declaring him the Rookie of the Year. "pretty soon, all the tools will be there, so lets award him now and have an 'I told you so' stashed away"[Edited on October 20, 2006 at 2:10 PM. Reason : patience, grasshopper.]

10/20/2006 2:19:32 PM

Dante Hall is a better returner than Najeh Davenport because he is more physically giftedBush is so much more physically gifted than Deuce its ridiculous1+1=2
10/20/2006 2:23:01 PM
so you're only claim is that Bush is a better return man than Deuce? no arguments here, if all you're talking about is returnsthough Steve Smith is a better return man than both of them
10/20/2006 2:24:19 PM
sleik brought up the returns and pass catchingall my recent posts have been based on that
10/20/2006 2:26:37 PM
sleik also brought up (and i believe he's a saints fan who likes bush, if im not mistaken) that nobody knows what players will do because its the NFL and its like that and you never know about injuries, expectations, etc]

i just cant see a guy like bushhaving so many tangibles and intangiblesand having so much money invested in himNOT developing or being developed into something to be fearedhes a good guy with good ethicdudes like that dont just fall offwe're not just talking about some athletic as hell 7th rounder fighting his way onto special teams and working and working and working his way to become a pro bowl RBwere talking about the second coming of christ or whatever people say people saysmart money goes to bush becoming great considering how little he has to do to become suchhate money goes to bush being too lazy or plain unable to lift a weight to get stronger or being too stupid to ever develop nfl instinctsmy dad hates T.O. cuz hes on tv all the timebut he sure as shit wouldnt want to have to step in front of him to make a tackleand he's bigger than T.O.soDONT BE HATIN[Edited on October 20, 2006 at 2:33 PM. If Tiki is serious about retiring, I'm sure the Saints would be willing to move McAllister because OHMYGOD REGGIEBUSH HAS WON OVER THE FANS and besides, we don't need any defensive ends anyway. so what the fuck would you guys trade us, oh wait I know, we'll take a 5th rounder to draft a DT from a midmajor school that never plays so much as a preseason snap for us.
