I saw it last night, after heading to two theatres before which were sold out. It was totally worth it though. My favorite scene was when he was holding the bag of his own shit. Classic.

A link within the link about Borat not being staged had this to say about Borat interrupting a Pam Anderson dog wedding:
Quote :
"Once ashore, the oft-reviled comedian sprinted toward Anderson and felled her with a perfectly executed rugby tackle, causing her to drop the beloved Luca. The [i]Stacked[i] actress struggled to her feet and brushed sand off of her long white gown as her loyal bodyguards seized the interloper, dragged him back to the shore, and dunked him in the hungry waves"

I was thinking that if you had never heard of her show, you'd think "Damn right!"

Also, if Borat interrupted this dog wedding BEFORE the book signing, she would have been able to spot his character. The date of the dog wedding vs. the book signing would be telling.

what about the scene with the children and the bear. The cinematography was almost too well done to be done impromptu

The Frat boys look INCREDIBLY fake. So did the part with the Jewish couple, but not quite so bad. And the ending part with the rich southerners.

what about the frat scene seemed fake?

i think maybe the setup was a little different than they portrayed in the movie (like maybe he didn't get picked up on the side of the highway) but the interactions between borat and the fratties seemed pretty realistic to me.

some of the scenes were completely unscripted and some were setup...dont completely know which...though i'm pretty sure the bear thing was staged

"'Real Borat' seeks apology

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) -- Turkey's Internet celebrity Mahir Cagri is so convinced he was the inspiration for the Kazakh journalist character Borat Sagdiyev that he plans to travel to London seeking ways he can benefit from the movie that has surprised Hollywood with a No. 1 debut.

Cagri, 44, became a cyber celebrity after he posted a personal Web site in 1999, which featured unintentionally amusing photos of himself playing pingpong or the accordion and sunbathing in a skimpy bathing suit."

Time for all of the weird eurasians to come out of the woodwork for their share.

Frat Boys Who Made Racist Comments In 'Borat' Sue

http://www.wral.com/entertainment/10288878/detail.html

Quote :
"The lawsuit claims that in October 2005, a production crew took the students to a bar to drink and "loosen up" before participating in what they were told would be a documentary to be shown outside of the United States.

"They were induced to agree to participate and were told the name of the fraternity and the name of their school wouldn't be used," said the plaintiffs' attorney, Olivier Taillieu. "They were put into an RV and were made to believe they were picking up Borat the hitchhiker."

After a bout of heavy drinking, the plaintiffs signed a release form they were told "had something to do with reliability issues with being in the RV," Taillieu said.

The film "made plaintiffs the object of ridicule, humiliation, mental anguish and emotional and physical distress, loss of reputation, goodwill and standing in the community," the lawsuit said."

Saw the movie last night and I enjoyed it. The Pam Anderson plot slowed the movie down a lot but they needed something to tie the movie together and it worked fairly well.

It's pretty funny that people are saying how "shockingly easy it is for Borat to get people to make racist, anti-sematic comments" or even sing along with songs like "Throw the Jew down the well." Just another way America turns its head to the reality of it all.

If everyone in America came to tdub once in a while they'd know jsut how awful we are.

saw the movie. since i'm used to seeing borat in the short/interview scenarios it took a little bit of suspension of belief to really buy into the plot, but like a good porn, the plot comes second to the content, which in the case of Borat, was HILARIOUS, racism and all.

"In another scene in the film, former "Baywatch" babe
Pamela Anderson was attacked by Borat's alter ego at a book signing, and he later chased her through a parking lot.

Did she learn of his antics in advance? Yep, claims Anderson.

"I love Borat ... Of course (Sacha) and I planned this years ago," she wrote in a recent post on her Web site. "And it turned out perfect — I'm so happy for him." "

Apparently, Cohen won a Golden Globe.

7:28 p.m. - Reese Witherspoon presents the best film actor (comedy) to Sacha Baron Cohen, whom everyone anxiously watches and wonders, "Will he be funny or boring?" After all, he's not in his "Borat" mustache and bad suit. Thankfully, he doesn't disappoint. After schooling Beatty on how to say, "Wah wah wee wah," Baron Cohen launches into what will probably be the grossest, most roundabout acceptance speech of the night.

He refers to how in the film, he saw America's dark and ugly side: "the anus and testicles of my co-star, Ken Davitian." Here's a paraphrasing of that lovely speech: "Ken, when I was in that scene and I stared down on your two wrinkled golden globes, I thought to myself, 'I better win a bloody award for this.' As he sat his 300 pounds on my face, I was faced with a choice: death or to breathe in the air that had been trapped in that small pocket of his buttocks for 30 years. Kenneth, if not for that rancid bubble, I would not be here today."

After a few real thanks, Baron Cohen adds, "Thank you to every American who has not sued me so far."
