My roommate has the "let the f***er disappear in the Bermuda Triangle" theory...I think by Friday or Saturday we'll be able to tell whether to have the coast board up again...P.S.-If you check the Tropical Weather Outlook link above the Florence info on nhc.noaa.gov, it looks like we may have another storm forming in 2-3 days...
9/6/2006 12:39:12 AM

But still not a hurricane
9/7/2006 6:06:59 PM
Not for another day or two, but if one that's already this big turns into one, I get worried...
9/7/2006 7:02:44 PM
it should be a cane at the latest 5am Sat, it is finally kinda looking halfway descent. The question is will it be a major Fish cane or not. This has been a boring season after the last 2, i guess Mother Nature throws one in every once in awhile.

9/11/2006 5:09:36 PM

9/11/2006 5:48:25 PM
I just wanna know what they did to get slammed like this so I don't do it...damn...
9/11/2006 9:53:42 PM
It's more teaser for NC. Last year they went to the gulf and these last two pansied out. It just sucks that it's been 10 years now and we haven't had anything like Fran. (Yes there was Floyd but I was refereing primarily to Raleigh). I have faith remaining that there is another Hazel/Hugo out there with our name on it. Maybe not this season but hopefully soon.
9/12/2006 12:21:15 AM
we had isabelle(wind)and dennis(rain)and alberto(rain)but none as intense as fran. i think fran was still a cat 1 when it got to raleigh AND it dumped alot of rain.but the main reason fran was so bad here was because we had LOTS AND LOTS of rain the week before it came and we hadnt had any big winds in a long time. so there were many weak old trees around with the ground very very wet the roots were loose and when fran cam it just uprooted all those trees. now we have mostly strong trees so even a storm as bad as fran wouldnt be as bad as fran.with the steering currents aroudn the bermuda high it is pretty much the rule for them to take the "C" shaped turn as they approach the east coast and accelerate ne afterwards. fran was one of the few exceptions to that cuz it came in almost west-east.i want to see ny get one. ittle be fun watching millions of people evacuate.
9/12/2006 2:28:31 AM
also many of the buildings arent built for hurricanes like in houston no and miami. a 120mph wind would tip the lincoln building over.
9/12/2006 2:30:43 AM
I mean yes there are weak trees, but that much rain and then alot of wind. Many strong trees just weren't any match b/c the groud was so soft.
9/12/2006 2:34:40 AM
