6/27/2006 6:38:59 PM

6/27/2006 7:41:58 PM

6/27/2006 8:14:01 PM
6/27/2006 9:35:37 PM
I went by the imax to get some tickets for a Friday show earlier tonight and there were a bunch of kids talking about Smallville.
6/27/2006 9:36:13 PM
overall this is a good movie, nothing amazingkate bosworth recieves 6 SURELY FATAL blows to the head. i dont get why they made her abuse so comic.there was clapping at the main 'twist' -- clapping at the end. some people probably will love the movie. others will complain that it was too formulaic. theres great art, dialogue, acting, scenery and use of metaphor. ^agreed, that CGI in the film is one of the best if not the best i have ever seen. It was hard sometimes to tell if it was him or a computer animation.
6/28/2006 1:01:57 AM
Thank you Bryan Singer. This fanboy is satisfied. Three years wait was well worth it.Flame me all you want; I'm not going to visit this thread again.
6/28/2006 1:09:13 AM
yea, the use of CG here sets a new standard--the action shots were so engaging. there was so much of it, time wise, and in every shot there was incredible attention to detail, though a few cases were it wasnt right, like the cape.the major issue with the movie is that the premise isnt radical enough to make this movie truly great. we've all seen this before. we all know what the next movie should center around, but i wont say it because it would be kind of a spoiler. what a great movie. i walked out of their humming john williams theme.
6/28/2006 1:20:17 AM
saw it tonight. AWESOME MOVIE. I thought everything about it was EXCELLENT. I loved how they held true to the format of the Reeve movies.. Brandon Routh was awesome as supes, Spacey was a dead-on Luthor. I'm probably going to see it again. I got chills in some of the scenes.
6/28/2006 1:29:28 AM
i wish they didnt show spacey's most intense line in the trailers.
6/28/2006 1:32:42 AM
Oh I'm definitely goin to see it again. Even if the movie wasn't good (which it was great!) I just want to hear that fuckin theme music in the theatre.
6/28/2006 1:33:31 AM
I'm glad you guys all enjoyed it. like 75% of the people I talked to felt it was way too slow, long, boring at time. Easily could have been half an hour shorter.
6/28/2006 1:36:33 AM
wow, everyone i've talked to have said it was awesome. and i wish it was about an hour longer... i loved every second of it. superman is the mack daddy of super heroes[Edited on June 28, 2006 at 1:38 AM. Reason : yep]
6/28/2006 1:38:11 AM
this movie should NOT have been longer. given how expansive the plot was, the 2.5 hrs was fairly justifiable. i dont see how you could call this movie boring at times.
6/28/2006 1:39:31 AM
That's awesome. I was the unfortunate soul that had to work the Superman showing tonight, but I will def. watch it tomorrow night. I enjoyed sitting in the office doing work and being able to hear the Superman theme song, got me excited
6/28/2006 1:39:43 AM
For me, the film touched onto a nostalgic chord of my childhood. I mean I used to (like most kids) strap on a red cape and run around my house like superman; saving the day. But the great thing that Bryan Singer did with this film, was that he also re-created the myth that speaks to the adult world.
6/28/2006 1:46:43 AM
i loved the reference to Gotham in the movie..anyone else catch it?the lady on the news on TV was talking about superman sightings and she mentioned he was in Gotham
6/28/2006 1:50:19 AM
^oh I caught it!
6/28/2006 1:51:29 AM
It was a long movie, but at no point did I feel bored watching it.I can't say the same for Xmen, LoTR, or the Star Wars movies (which were long AND had boring parts). This was a really good movie though. Not as cheesy as the trailers made it out to be, well directed, well paced. If you liked any of the comic book movies, especially Batman Returns, you'll like this one for sure.My only complaint is that they seemed to dumb down the dialogue noticeably in a lot of areas.[Edited on June 28, 2006 at 2:23 AM. long, corny movie...i want those 3 hours of my life back
6/28/2006 2:30:31 AM
awful movie
6/28/2006 2:38:45 AM
my favorite part of the movie was between the "Legendary Pictures" logo, and the legal disclaimer about all characters being fictitious
6/28/2006 2:45:00 AM
okay just skimming through this thread now i guess i have to stop reading in case of SPOLIERS

^I remember that, as well
6/28/2006 8:22:31 AM
X-Men:The Last Stand was better
6/28/2006 8:34:53 AM
6/28/2006 8:48:05 AM
not that his opinion is the end all be all, but aparently ebert liked garfield 2 better than superman.
6/28/2006 8:54:58 AM
^well, that was douchebaggery

Collecting as an investment isn't dead, but the speculators market of the 1990s is dead, and may God damn it to Hell. You know who really killed Superman? Everyone who bought that book thinking its value would skyrocket. Good luck getting cover price for it, if you ask me.
6/28/2006 10:34:44 AM
i've got my tix tonight for the 7:45 show in the DLP theater
6/28/2006 10:35:24 AM
I didn't think it was as good as the original (but still really good), but damn that plane crash sequence in 3D made me wet my pants.
6/28/2006 11:39:14 AM
Just watched it....ehhhhh.The special effects were really nice. The story.........ehhhhhh.They should have called it Luthor and Kumar Go to Mini-Krypton.
6/28/2006 6:23:29 PM
i can't remember but did kumar even have any lines? he didn't do much talking. also, for those who saw the imax version, is it the whole movie or a shortened version?
6/28/2006 9:21:41 PM
As I said before the IMAX version is the same as the 35mm version except it has shorter credits.
6/28/2006 10:22:43 PM
yea it was fucking anoying as shit to have kumar-the-mute in this movie
6/29/2006 4:06:46 AM
I walked out of the movie yesterday with a big stupid grin on my face that didn't fade for an hour or so. When I think of the movie now, I still get a big stupid grin on my face.I fucking love you, Bryan Singer. And Brandon Routh nailed Christopher Reeves mannerisms and speech. Several times during the movie if I had closed my eyes, I would have thought that it was Reeves returned back from the dead.I'm gonna go see it again tonight or tomorrow.
6/29/2006 8:45:52 AM
I saw it lastnight at the Imax in 3D and I must say I was very impressedit was typical Bryan Singer, not enough action & alot of story, but I thought they did an excellent jobi will be the first to say that I severely doubted Brandon Routh as Superman, however I stand correctedhe did an outstanding job both as Clark and Superman3 stars
6/29/2006 10:26:50 AM
One thing about Routh that bothers me, although it isn't his fault, is that his voice is almost identical to Tom Cruise's. It's just weird.
6/29/2006 10:57:04 AM
I liked it but there were a couple distractions. Kumar being one, and the 3D aspect being the other. IMAX is a little intimidating at times with the visual overexposure, and having a completely different guy as Superman took getting used to, even though I think he did a pretty good job. Now that I've gotten used to him as Superman it'll be nice to watch a regular showing where I can get more into the overall movie than focusing so much on the visual.^I didn't hear that, I think b/c Tom Cruise doesn't necessarily have a really distinguishable voice like say, Sean Connery or Nicholas Cage.
6/29/2006 12:27:20 PM
saw it last night - i think it was a bit too obvious that the kid was his and not richard'salso how do you guys think richard is going to die now - b/c he's too nice for her to leave him or something like that - he's gotta be killed by some crazy forcealso i think spacey should have been made to be a little darker and more evil - he didn't appear to have that POWER i was looking forwhere was the fresh water on his rock stored at for drinking water and whatnot? he could have been taken over by the nigerian army - bad plan[Edited on June 29, 2006 at 12:31 PM. In case you didn't know, Superman is a dick. He'll steal Cyclops's girlfriend without thinking twice.
