The Eagles play 4-3.
4/13/2006 8:01:24 PM
Ricky Manning is in talks with the Bears but nothing is definite for either side right now...he is restricted so the Panthers could match the Bears' offer if they make an offercourse the draft is pretty deep at defensive 2ndary players...i wonder how much nfl teams focus on which free agents to sign based on draft depth at those positions? we let spoon go but there are good LBs in the draft...i dunno
4/14/2006 1:57:43 PM
if ricky goes we get a 3rd round draft pick from the bears, perhaps with reggie howard back in the line-up the panthers are probably more willing to let him go than match a big offer.
4/14/2006 4:02:48 PM
if we get the 3rd rounder from chi, we should trade that for edwards(LB) from san diego.
4/14/2006 4:18:12 PM
yea, I definitely think we should let Manning go if we can get a 3rd round. IMO, he'll leave after this year anyway.
4/14/2006 5:34:08 PM
steve smith doesn't think keyshawn is a replacement for moose...http://www.newsobserver.com/820/story/429472.html
4/17/2006 1:22:20 PM
geez steve, just say he'll be a good fit and move on. no need in riling him up before the season even starts
4/17/2006 1:39:14 PM
Damn, we have not even got into summer camp...and we got words being slung around...Hope this is friendly rivalry... III
4/17/2006 1:58:53 PM
I see that article as more of props to moose than bashing key. He never said anything bad about key, and i bet that he would even say that moose is better than he is.that said, he could/should have been more accommodating to key.[Edited on April 17, 2006 at 2:45 PM. Reason : .]
4/17/2006 2:25:23 PM
i mean smith was the main person fightin to get keyshawn here. it wouldnt make sense for him to trash him. i think they just asked him loaded questions and he tried to answer honestly.
4/17/2006 2:44:10 PM
yeah who knows how they chose to quote himbut i also got the vibe that he wasnt trying to bash keyshawn, but just to give extra props to moose
4/17/2006 2:46:19 PM
Rereading it, I think I see you all points, he never did bash Key and really stuck up for Moose...and it is a quote from media and not a live interview... III
4/17/2006 7:12:37 PM
in regards to that article that Turnip posted (the link to) at http://www.newsobserver.com/820/story/429472.htmlJaymes Powell is getting RIPPED by multiple Charlotte sports radio shows...Steve Smith yesterday on the Morning Sports Page basically said he selectively quoted him...then one of the producers on the 12pm-3pm show has continuously tried to call Powell and talk with him on the air about his article and he refuses...sounds like the writer was just trying to stir up some shit
4/19/2006 1:00:29 PM
brandon short signed with the giants.
4/19/2006 8:51:59 PM
All is back right with the world III
4/19/2006 11:38:18 PM
we signed na'il diggs
4/20/2006 11:20:15 PM
how nice would it be for panthers to have picked up L.Arrington intsead...pretty beastly LB corp if that were the case.
4/21/2006 9:40:41 AM
i had almost forgotten about him
4/21/2006 9:42:49 AM
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2417092Chicago has made him an offer and we have a week to decide if we want to match it. I hope we let him go so we get a 3rd round pick from Chicago as compensation. He's always getting burned and I could make even more fun of my friend who bought his jersey last year.
4/21/2006 8:18:48 PM
^ i have a manning jerseyi didn't get it last year though
4/21/2006 10:10:32 PM
I say let Manning go.
4/21/2006 10:40:39 PM
haha i saw his contracthe aint worth no 21 million dollars over 5 yearsi think hes worth about 1.5-2
4/22/2006 12:08:08 AM
after signing diggs i think all signs are pointing to us drafting a RB, whether it's maroney from minnesota or white
4/23/2006 3:05:58 PM
if you guys draft white, it will be the biggest waste
4/23/2006 3:08:56 PM
if we draft White i hope he's not a wastehe didnt look good at combines but he looked pretty fucking good when he set the record for most touchdowns in USC school history
4/23/2006 3:55:33 PM
yes cleaning up what reggie bush and matt leinart left over while running behind winston justice vs inferior competition when the score was 42-7
4/23/2006 3:57:39 PM
yeah reggie bush really showed up versus texas
4/23/2006 3:59:46 PM
yea i saw that 1 gamewe all know what a defensive powerhouse texas was
4/23/2006 4:02:52 PM
we know texas was the best team that USC played all season and Lendale White put up 3 TDs on them while Bush struggled
4/23/2006 4:08:12 PM
i really am nuetral on getting him, but if the panthers do pick him up i am positive he will be productive. fox has an excellent draft history.
4/23/2006 4:10:29 PM
not really a character guy eitherjust what you guys need, him and foster in the backfieldi still say you guys should draft a DT
4/23/2006 4:15:21 PM
ya the panthers and pats pretty much pwn the nfl draft. fox will pick some1 good.
4/23/2006 4:16:39 PM
Yeah. We need a young RB since losing steven davis. Ideally, we want a bruiser back like davis to move the chains and open up the top for jake & our WR tandem (Smitty/Key).LenDale will be chosen by us if he is available at 26 just because we need a bruiser back badly. No one knows if he will ever pan out, thats why the draft is so interesting, but ya gotta take the chance if you are Carolina.
4/23/2006 4:17:01 PM
^^^u havent followed the offseason signees have you?
4/23/2006 4:39:50 PM
uh actually i haveand you guys havent signed a capable* DTgg[Edited on April 23, 2006 at 5:05 PM. Reason : *]
4/23/2006 4:52:00 PM
um, i'm pretty sure this guy is a DT...... Maake Kemoeatudidn't post outrageous numbers in baltimore but he is supposedly a great run stopper
4/23/2006 5:00:32 PM
if you guys are happy with lewis and Kemoeatu then more power to you
4/23/2006 5:06:20 PM
lewis is gonna ride the pine, it's gonna be rucker, jenkins, peppers, kemoeatu with moorehead, carstons and lewis playing back-up roles. i think our D-line is set, the panthers have been addressing every position that we have a need in except RB. i will bet anyone any amount of money that the panthers first pick will be a RB.
4/23/2006 5:22:32 PM
All of the RB's we're looking at I'm hesitant about.D. Williams - I think he's already 25 and he has a lot of yards on those legsL. White - was great last year, but this offseason has me worriedL. Maroney - has never been a full-time back, but maybe with Foster he could be decentI think we'll pick Williams if he's there, if not then we'll get White. I trust Fox will make the right selection.
4/23/2006 5:56:01 PM
i still think you guys are better off waiting for a rb in a later round
4/23/2006 6:40:56 PM
^depends whos there at 27...i would personally rather have malroney than white but still think white is a great back...i'm not as worried about the LB situation though with a few FA signings
4/23/2006 7:11:47 PM
4/23/2006 8:07:46 PM
"best player available" would not be a rbeven if every rb fell except for bushespecially if you guys actually want lendale white for christs sake, I mean trade down or something then
4/23/2006 8:16:40 PM
what is even funnier, is the assumption by every panthers fan that they have to have a bruiser rb to compliment fosterIMO you guys are fine with hoover being the pile mover, why waste a 1st rd pick on a loser like lendale whitethe fucker got out benched by a punter for christsakes
4/23/2006 8:22:30 PM
i love hoover, but he is not a guy that can move the pile every time he touches the ball like davis could in his prime. i also like eric shelton as our "bruising" back, i am just more concerned about our depth with foster being injury prone. we need another RB, and why not try to get one that can compliment foster's running style
4/23/2006 9:04:43 PM
I think BoobsR_Gr8 is scared of the Panthers getting Lendale White because he thinks he is gonna be a starbtw, dont even debate whether or not you're scared, if you do that will just prove you're scared
4/23/2006 11:29:32 PM
I respect what boobs is sayin. Who is your favorite team boobs? Are they a run-based offense like carolina is? If so, have you seen them play without a capable running back in the playoffs and lose because of it?thats why we want a RB so bad, and most of us would like to think the panthers think the same.Reality is we are going to pick the best player available at 26 regardless of position. We would like to fill some holes but we wont pass up superior talent at any position to do so.
4/23/2006 11:38:35 PM
^^ aha
4/24/2006 12:53:00 AM
Well, the decision on whether to match for Manning just got a whole lot easier.http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/football/3814376.html
