unless you have the runners body and metabolism, this event can only damage your body

^^It's more of an attitude problem than anything. It's the prevailing attitude that cutting corners is okay (at all levels of society and importance). The money had already been collected. There's no reason to cheat and cheapen the achievement for everyone that actually does it. If your only motivation is fundraising, you've already done your part. If you can't finish it honestly, just drop out.

so whats the difference between that and walking part of a 5k charity run. Its a "run" yet you are too out of shape to run the whole thing so you walk part of it. Who cares? If you cheated, and you lie about it, then chances are you do that with the rest of your life, and it will catch up to you. If you paid your ten bucks, only want to eat 2 donuts instead of 12, then why should anyone bitch?

fundraising fundraising fundraisinggod, i don't think i've ever independantly done a race without the proceeds going to charity in some form. It's practicly a requisite for something like this. Not to mention that it was $10 (well, $15 for most) to enter, and the donations (or wherever they got their money for this from) had to cover shirts, doughnuts, hats, and possibly other costs. That seems to be clearly surpassing the amount paid to enter. Whoever you got to sponsor this event could have donated more money to charity by giving it directly to the benefactors. There's nothing sacred about cheating in an event like that.

Its a question of intent, if the intent is to have a good time and raise money, then who cares. If the intent is prove your athletic prowess by eating a bunch of fat, and then running, perhaps i could see your point. However from everything i have read, its like the hike. You are out to have a good time, not to prove anything to anyone.

Next year, there should be an ULTIMATE Krispy Kreme Challenge. It'll run from the Andy Griffith statue in Pullen Park to KK, but you have to go all the way down Western to turn on to Person. The return trip will be on Peace/Edenton/whatever. Naked, at 2 AM, on rollerblades.

^We were waiting for them to let us start and one guy suggested a Krispy Kreme Marathon: You start @ Krispy Kreme, eat 12 doughnuts, run to Chapel Hill, and throwup on Carolina's belltower.haha
