I talked to the ACC and they said they will take all of your ideas into consideration. Thanks for your hard work.

"Radio stations campaign to 'Save the Rivalry'
Feb 21, 2012 7:22 a.m.

The addition of Pittsburgh and Syracuse to the Atlantic Coast Conference means scheduling changes and could spell the end of some long-preserved rivalries.

The University of North Carolina and North Carolina State have met on the basketball court twice per year every year since 1920 - that 92-year home-and-home series will no longer be guaranteed under the league's new scheduling model.

Capitol Broadcasting's 99.9FM The Fan ESPN Radio and 620AM The Buzz have combined forces to bring attention to the loss of such a big rivalry game.

"We get that college sports is big business but there's certain things you should not mess with, and the traditions of Tobacco Road are about as high as you can get," said Operations Manager and Program Director Jason Dixon. "We're doing our best to draw attention to what we feel isn't right."

Once Pitt and Syracuse join the league in the 2012-13 season, the basketball schedule will consist of 18 conference games, using a "partner" model to guarantee certain annual home-and-home series' - UNC and NC State will not be partners. Team's schedules will rotate through the other 12 schools in four-team packs for home-and-home series' every three years.

North Carolina will partner with Duke, so that rivalry - which also dates back to 1920 - will stay intact. The Wolfpack will be partnered with Wake Forest, which means that UNC and NC State will only be guaranteed to play each other once a year.

The radio stations have launched a facebook campaign on SaveTheRivalry.com requesting fans in favor of preserving the rivalry to 'like' their page and leave comments about the change in schedule.

"Frankly, we think it's kind of ridiculous that the ACC is taking away two games that helped build the league in the first place," 99.9 The Fan's Joe Ovies said in an interview with WRAL News Tuesday. "It's not what it once was, but it still gets people going, especially in this area."

Fans can also interact with the twitter account @stateuncrivalry and use the hashtag #savetherivalry when discussing the change.

NC State and UNC will play the second game of the 2011-12 season Tuesday night at the RBC Center with an 8 p.m. tip-off. The game can be seen live on WRAL-TV."

I dont know if this has been mentioned yet itt. Why don't they just split the divisions geographically?
so you end up with the north division having:
BC, Pitt, Syracuse, Maryland, UVA, VT, Wake

South ending up with:
State, Duke, Carolina, Clemson, GT, FSU, Miami

seems more logical and it would cut down on schools travel expenses.

this is so embarrassing, we're begging the acc to let us get laughed at by unc twice every year. and i mean that literally. they literally sit on the bench and laugh at us every time we play them.

^There's not a way to see the local Raycom ratings for basketball games is there?

I think WRAL want to keep it because they will lose a a week of radio coverage, news (tv), internet. twice a year and gain nothing.

that equals lost ratings. I say lets expand go to pods and get it over with.

I've been advocating for redoing divisions to north and south since they decided to add pitt and syracuse. This would help keep the old big east rivalries intact and most of the ACC ones as well. As you said it would have the added benefit of cutting down on travel times and expenses and fans will make reasonable trips to say GT or Clemson. Very few visiting fans are gonna roll up to Pitt or Syracuse though.

Who says I haven't suggested it to anyone important?

Unfortunately I am not important so that doesn't mean they will listen. I still think it would be a smart move though.

I guess this goes here. Here's an article from Luke Winn about how realignment would have effected basketball if the changes were put into effect a decade ago: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/luke_winn/05/22/conference.rankings/index.html?eref=sihp&sct=hp_wr_a4

I don't think it's anything we didn't already know.

"Fine Florida State, you wanna get nuts? LET'S GET NUTS

FSU and Miami/Clemson (and Louisville and Cincinatti) to Big XII
NC State and VPI to SEC
MD (and Rutgers) to B1G 10

ND, UConn, South Florida to ACC

"

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If and when FSU and a partner bolt to the Big XII, the ACC won't be a viable football conference anymore (unless we get ND, which they're a better fit in the Big XII or B1G 10 anyhow). Since expansion is already screwing us over in basketball (don't play Duke twice a year, won't be playing unc twice a year), and this whole thing is about football money, might as well bolt to the SEC. Set up a rivalry game with the holes in football like GT, FSU, and Clemson do with their SEC rivals. Schedule them as an OOC basketball game. Call it a day. We're always going to be a mid-tier football team anyhow (like Kentucky and Vandy) with more interest in basketball, so let's just hope we can beat the Mississippi teams and the Kentuckys and the Vandys with a cupcake OOC and get our 6-6 or 7-5 bowl. It's not like we do much better in the ACC against the likes of BC and Wake. Plus we're always good for a WTF upset so instead of it being FSU or Clemson, let it be against Bama or LSU for a change. Now won't that be fun?

FSU is not leaving the ACC to join the Big 12. It makes no sense other than straight TV money. FSU to the SEC is the only logical exit strategy if they truly plan to leave the ACC.

I would swap out Wake and Miami. Miami is taking flights everywhere anyway, and is full of northerners
