Great win tonight for the good guys.

Interestingly enough, the final play was initially called to go to Shelden Williams, somewhere around the basket/free throw line, I'm assuming similar to Christian L.'s shot. They were hoping to either draw a foul or get lucky. Instead, Johnny Dawkins pulled Dock aside and told him that they (Va. Tech defense, the way it was set up; the extra time to fix the clock helped out in this regard) were planning on doubling JJ and using one man to guard either Dock or Shelden, depending upon where the pass went. Johnny told Dock exactly where to go on the court and Dock did exactly that. Josh delivered the pass and the rest is history.

i think a large majority of the carolina fans attend carolina and only pull for certain sports...

i'm at grad school at state and support all teams, but i grew up loving duke basketball, spent much of my childhood in duke hospital, and was lucky enough to meet coach k and see his class that people doubt (guest on the bench in '86, duke vs. unc tix 2nd row for my birthday in '92, signed posters in the mail, etc, etc)...so i'll always pull for duke basketball first and foremost because of that...

^^I've had a similar case, except with 0 affiliation to NC State. I got the password from someone else and post sparingly. I was born and raised in Durham (still reside there, a matter of minutes from the campus, although I'm currently in school about four hours away) and grew up very close to the Duke program(s). Several family members played either football or basketball at Duke, while some other family members had a number of different jobs at Duke.

During football season I was in Wallace Wade watching the football team struggle. Obviously I wasn't posting much because a.) there's hardly a thread talking about Duke football and b.) I get tired of repeating the same problems on end regarding our football program. If you'd like to talk football, I'm here to talk about it. It's not like I have 0 idea what's going on with our football program. I follow Duke football recruiting as closely as I do basketball.

I can't stand V-Tech....I am glad they lost !! Their fans are almost....I repeat almost as obnoxious as Carolina fans. I Put V-tech in the same loser pile with Carolina, The Red Sox, The Dallas Cowboys, and the Lakers....Plus in my opinion Coach K is one of best coaches to ever coach the game of college hoops !! So even though I am not a Duke fan....I am glad when Coach K does well !!

I play weekly and when we are just shooting around before playing I make halfcourt shots more than once.

whats really amazing is that they let the guy pass the ball that far.

^well, you might want to defend a little further out, but not too much farther.

you don't want to risk fouling someone, so you play a bit soft. and you don't want to give up the homerun pass and give up a good look.

but if I was a coach, that's exactly what I would draw up 90% of the time. Hit a guy running up the floor, let him get a good look from around halfcourt. Most coaches throw up hail marys which rarely even let the guy get a shot off.

VT fans aren't nearly as bad as UNC fans. VT actually has a fan base that went to school there. They are respectful of other schools, and they cheer hard for their teams. VT to UVA is like NCSU to UNC. UVA fans suck ass...they treat VT like UNC treats us...and its completely uncalled for.

If we had a football program that was as good as theirs, our fans would be the same way. Theres a difference between being loud about cheering for your team and being a total fucking douche. VT fans are just loud and proud. UNC fans are total fucking douche bags, not unlike youself as it appears.
