You got to use a shotgun for house of the dead 3. I didn't mind the arm soreness for the interactiviity. To each their own.I think the shotgun looks SWEEET.[Edited on September 27, 2005 at 2:53 PM. Reason : sweetness]

3D?Moving the gun actually moves where your character is looking and aiming on screen.although that would be difficult. if you were moving the gun, obviously it wouldnt be pointing at the screen... not sure how that would work actually.the 3D mouse thing that is the handle has the ability to tell where youre pointing, but im not sure it would work with say a Resident Evil[Edited on September 27, 2005 at 3:09 PM. I guess sticking an analog stick on the back qualifies as "new". The only thing is that the light gun will work with HDTVs. House of the Dead 3 used the controller to aim and I bet it's because of the HD set problem. It'll be a cold day in hell before Nintendo releases a gun peripheral again. Nintendo's conservative enough as it is with the controversial political climate surrounding video games. Putting a gun in kids' hands is the last thing the company would do. And that mock-up looks expensive as hell anyway.
9/27/2005 3:11:50 PM
I bet it'd retail for less than $50
9/27/2005 3:28:09 PM
dudedidn't you hear? in 1990 nintendo fired its creativity. now whenever they try to be creative, we just get things like the Virtual Boy, N64 controllers with this oddly protruding directional pad and a crusty control stick, the DS, and Nintendogs.
9/27/2005 3:32:32 PM
^What was wrong with the N64 controller?
9/27/2005 4:52:31 PM
personally i liked the n64 and the gamecube controllers
9/27/2005 4:56:47 PM
I did as well.
9/27/2005 5:42:10 PM
the stick got less responsive as time wore on
9/27/2005 8:55:03 PM
so do you
9/27/2005 9:08:19 PM
Uh Nintendo made the analog thumbstick. Then Sega goes and copies it so quickly that the Saturn comes out before N64 hit the market. Sony released the PS1 with that crummy controller, and held off the North American release and came out with their version with the two analog sticks.
9/28/2005 1:27:48 AM
9/28/2005 1:38:43 AM
umN64 controller was one of the best controllers made.
9/28/2005 8:16:51 AM
They said you can still play the conventional way if that floats your boat.
9/28/2005 8:57:28 AM
the sticks on my 64 contorllers never got jawned up and i had them from launch. played that shit all the time too so perhaps you should just take better care of ur shit.
9/28/2005 12:06:50 PM
^then you havent been playing very muchthose sticks are still usable, but a true gamer appreciates the sensitivity which does indeed fade rapidly
9/28/2005 12:12:13 PM
I think fault is rather with how well you take care of your stuff then how durable it is.I played the hell out of my N64 sticks and they lasted perfectly well.
9/28/2005 12:23:35 PM
you're thinking of yourselvesdon't forget young kids play nintendo tooyou may be intellectual gods who can do no wrongthey are not
9/28/2005 12:26:50 PM
I get pissed and throw controllers to EVERY system I own.N64 controllers, all 4 of them, still work fine. You guys just suck ass at playing video games
9/28/2005 12:39:47 PM
It's a well-known fact that the N64 joysticks start to where out to the point that they're unusable. If you've ever played one at a Walmart, you'd know what I'm talking about. Doesn't change the fact that they created the analog thumbstick (I'm not saying they created analog), and Sony copied the idea and made it better.
9/28/2005 1:04:57 PM
The one that I got in the box with my N64 still works great. And that is after lots and lots of Goldeneye and Super Smash Brothers. Only the pre-owned ones that they sell at EB and Gamestop are dead like that.
9/28/2005 1:09:57 PM
i agree with people who say the gun looks awesome
9/28/2005 1:40:59 PM
that gun looks freaking hot as crap. A resident Evil game with that would be really damn awesome. I just wonder if the placement of that analog sitck is easy to get to while holding on to the trigger.
9/28/2005 2:26:34 PM
I had to say that the analog stick used to lose it's response. After playing it for so long (and playing Mario Party did NOT help), the stick had more give. If you tilted the controller, the analog stick would tilt slightly also instead of staying still. We wore out 2 controllers, but still used them anyway.
9/29/2005 12:20:14 AM
My N64 controllers were virtually useless for spinning Bowser in Mario 64 after about six months.

So a little bit more info has trickled out:1. The Revolution has been confirmed to NOT support 720p or 1080i. 2. In the new EGM's rumor section, they state that several developers have commented that the Revolution has graphic capabilities that are only slightly above that of the Gamecube's (I guess that explains number 1).3. The director of Smash Bros. Melee has been asked to direct the new Revolution Smash Bros, even though he left the company.
11/30/2005 6:16:15 PM
Hmm.
11/30/2005 6:17:52 PM
wtf - they can't NOT support hdtvthat's suicide
11/30/2005 6:19:46 PM
HAS IT BEEN REVEALED YET?!?!!??
11/30/2005 6:22:43 PM
it really doesn't surprise me...the early gamecubes had the plug to support HD...then on the later models they did away with that port...
11/30/2005 6:25:19 PM
they're going for gameplay and that's what i want. i don't want the latest and greatest pixel reduction shit from xbox 1400302, i want something that plays well and is different and fun. last set of gaming consoles was only a graphics update, as is now.
11/30/2005 6:29:17 PM
well it'd be nice if they'd do both
11/30/2005 6:37:26 PM
If you are bothered that the graphics won't be good, take a look at Resident Evil 4 and some of the trailers for Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the GC. They look absolutely incredible to me on a regular, non-hi definition TV so it really doesn't bother me if the graphics aren't vastly improved. If they were a giant step up, then I get the feeling that the Revolution would cost a lot more then what the current speculations are (<$200). And, unless they are younger then 13, anyone who thinks that graphics are better then gameplay loses all respect when it comes to gaming. From the looks of things the games for the Revolution are going to be a lot more interactive (and obviously immersive) then any previous games short of virtual reality, so I doubt graphics are going to a problem.[Edited on November 30, 2005 at 7:00 PM. I think Nintendo has the same goal as Microsoft. They want to be in every living room in the world. The only difference is Microsoft thinks that the average household has an HD home theater with a network connecting all the components and is willing to drop $500 for an addition to it. Nintendo seems to be taking the more realistic approach.
11/30/2005 6:58:05 PM
hmm, i read somewhere that the revolution would be less powerful than the others but the differences between it and the others wouldnt be any greater than it is now(meaning graphical differences between ps2,gc, and xbox)
11/30/2005 7:04:32 PM
^^ you ever think thats possibly why they offered the core bundle? it is still expensive, but no more than what is expected considering ps2 and xbox(?) cost that much to start.id also like to note that i stand by those n64 sticks being fine. did i notice any difference? sure, but it was very VERY minor. i played a ton of goldeneye, kart, and mario party.
11/30/2005 7:08:41 PM
^ So are 360 games being devleoped with HD or SD people in mind?Regardless, over the course of the next generation of consoles the people that can afford HD tvs will want a 360. The average household that doesn't want to pay over $250 for a console for their kid and doesn't have an HDTV will purchase a Revolution.[Edited on November 30, 2005 at 7:25 PM. Reason : ]
11/30/2005 7:18:22 PM
^^perhaps those that didnt find that the sticks wear out just never played enough. i mean, in HS i would play 4 player goldeneye multiplayer for like 5 hrs after school every day for about a year
11/30/2005 7:25:16 PM
^^ why would anyone develop for lower resolutions when you CAN go for higher? not everyone can look at it, but why not have something extra for ppl who spent (potentially) thousands on a nice theater system. it isnt like you have to play in HD, but like someone else said you can design for both graphics and gameplay.in the same vein, why develop a game not using surround sound (unless completely pointless)? it makes the game better and rewards people who have nice speaker systems.it is also possible that xbox prices could drop by the time the revolution is released (or comes packaged with games)^we played a lot, though granted it wasnt 5 hrs a day every day. you cant really blame nintendo for it wearing out if you played that much as im sure most controllers would fall to the pressure (ive seen plenty of ppl with jawned up ps2/xbox/gc controllers).[Edited on November 30, 2005 at 7:58 PM. 11/30/2005 7:55:42 PM
i can blame them....when they put out games like zelda and goldeneye, BFD, mario parties and smash bros .... they need a controller that can log hundreds of game hours

Apparently the power this machine will have will be similar to a "suped up XBox." Or about 2-3 times as powerful as a Gamecube. "Basically, take a GameCube, double the clock rate of the CPU and GPU and you're done." So, it simply will not have the horsepower that 360 and ps3 have, period. The discs can store 4.7GBs on a single layer or 8.5GBs when double-layered. But, it could launch as low as $99 and shouldnt be any higher than $149.http://revolution.ign.com/articles/673/673799p1.html
12/6/2005 9:23:15 PM
2 or 3 times as powerful as metroid prime? sounds pretty good to me.
12/6/2005 9:30:58 PM
Damn if it launches at that price I seriously think it could pwn the hell out of both PS3 and XBX 360. I was expecting it to be at least $200 at launch.Does this mean that Revolution games will not be $60 a piece?[Edited on December 6, 2005 at 10:00 PM. Reason : ]

that is pretty insane, but people will still flock to pretty graphics i have a feeling. still great as a second system anyway at 100 bux considering thats less than 2 xbox games.[Edited on December 6, 2005 at 10:11 PM.
