^ I think that warrants a ban!You don't say that kind of blasphemy around here, son.
8/15/2005 3:00:34 PM
I meant to say he fucking rocked, and brees should be fired on the spot so he can lead the chargers to a super bowl.He makes manning look bad he is so smart on the field.
8/15/2005 3:02:21 PM
There we go.
8/15/2005 3:02:42 PM
^^That's the spirit!
8/15/2005 3:05:57 PM
My roomie would just like to add the comment that he was sacked by KGB, even though KGB has nothing to do with the secondary , he is a starter so maybe my comments are flawed.yet another sunshine up the ass blowing example of how desperate this school is for some big league sucess.
8/15/2005 3:07:11 PM
while p.riv was in there was also a penalty by ahmad carroll who I believe was 1st string last year, but I could be wrong.[Edited on August 15, 2005 at 6:24 PM. Reason : .]
8/15/2005 6:23:49 PM
ahmad carroll was the worst starting cornerback in the nfl last year.
8/15/2005 6:28:44 PM
Well, at least he wasn't the most overrated CB last year, that award goes to Ricky Manning Jr., or he wasn't the CB given the most criticism, that one goes to Champ Bailey.
8/15/2005 7:26:41 PM
I'd take both of them with no fingers on their hands before I took Ahmad Carroll.
8/16/2005 1:04:42 AM
P. Rivers is #7 in SI's "Top 10 QB's under 25".
8/23/2005 10:47:06 PM
Schaub has been tearing it up in the preseason scene (something Rivers can't say he's really done)He just plays behind Jesu-- Mike Vick.
8/23/2005 10:49:11 PM
8/23/2005 11:40:47 PM
didn't Schaub suck balls though when he got his shot?It seems like he did I'll have to check
8/24/2005 12:50:27 AM
google "2003 BCS championship game"
8/24/2005 3:29:38 AM
Week 16 17-41, 188 yards, 0 TD, 2 INTWeek 17 14-22, 133 yards, 1 TD, 1 INTFor the season his QB rating was 42. The lowest possible rating is like 37 or something I think...For comparison sake Kyle Boller (who sucks knutesac) had a QB rating of 71So yeah despite a good preseason showing, he sucked last year....
8/24/2005 3:37:56 AM
^^^^ Thats some nice, levelheaded argument. Its refreshing to hear someone on TWW that speaks in a calm, normal tone. Thanks. You're definately right. I was that game with UVA, one of the best I think I've seen at State. Schaub isn't pathetic and I guess people have gotten to see him more so they can gauge his performance in the preseason with his better players.I'm waiting to see if Schaub tanks like Doug (Johnson, Peterson?), the previous Falcons QB that everyone thought was hot shit until God broke his leg and they threw him.

philip's playing like ass - preseason game v. vikings
8/26/2005 9:27:01 PM
anyone watching? I mean.. is it bad passing, bad plays by receivers, exceptionally good defensive plays, etc?
8/26/2005 9:33:17 PM
i'm watching ithis passes have been terrible, although his receivers have dropped a few easy oneshe was playing against the first-string defense, for whatever that's worthhe's done now -- only played the 2nd quarter[Edited on August 26, 2005 at 10:00 PM. Reason : 3rd string]
8/26/2005 9:39:04 PM
9/12, 113 yards, 1 TD so far tonight
9/1/2005 11:20:50 PM
9/12 for 113 and a TDwent 6/8 in scoring drive
9/1/2005 11:21:30 PM
12/18, 129 yds, 1 td, 2 ints
9/2/2005 12:09:43 AM
ouch, 2 ints
9/2/2005 12:10:16 AM
Okay, so what would it take for Brees to be pulled? He played decently yesterday--51.4%, 2 TDs, 2 INTs.Schottenheimer (despite his loyalty to the starter) is the kind of guy who will yank you if you are doing things that can make the team lose (interceptions). So what do you guys think it would take for Rivers to be given the starting spot?
9/12/2005 12:24:13 PM
well Gates was out yesterday so when he plays next week we will see.
9/12/2005 12:27:04 PM
Yeah, I'm definitely counting on Gates (he's on my fantasy team )and don't get the impression that I'm counting Brees out.I'm just curious what it would take.
9/12/2005 12:31:20 PM
i think the chargers would have to lose the next 3 games and brees would have to have multiple INTs each game for marty to put in rivers
9/12/2005 12:56:49 PM
He got 4 games last year and I don't see why they would give him fewer after the season he ended up having.
9/12/2005 1:34:53 PM
10/4/2005 2:14:19 PM
i still think they should move Drew Brees... they can get a lot more for him (a first round pick is almost a guarantee) and ultimately i think Rivers is the better QB and better fit in San Diego. If they could jsut pick up a gamebreaker type receiver to pair with McCardell they'd have one of the best offenses in the league with rivers at the helm...
10/4/2005 3:16:41 PM
After the way Brees played this weekend, I doubt he is going anywhere. They were talking about keeping both QB's which sucks for PRiv. They like the idea of having a substantial backup for Brees incase of injury or a major screw up. I don't see the Chargers trading a stellar QB like Rivers to a team that needs a QB just based purely on the fact that if he sits the bench in SD, he won't wreck their Def playin for some other team. I wanted Rivers to head to Dallas and play for Parcells...that would have been awesome. Would have been a rough year for him, but if they got their shit together it would have been a hell of a team. I can't think of one team I would want Rivers to get traded to right now that would make me happy. All the teams either suck because they have no O-line or running game...or have an established QB that is running things well. Someone help me out...where should he head if he had the chance even?
10/4/2005 3:49:26 PM
Lions. Dunno about that o-line though.
10/4/2005 3:53:29 PM
Teams that need a QBthe Bills (good RB, good WR's)the Jets. (eh on offense but a good d)the Cardinals (awesome WR's)the Redskins (talent at RB and one WR)the Dolphins (talent at WR and TE)the Texans (some talent at RB and WR)the Ravens (tough to know what they have on offense, good defense)the Lions (sick WR's and agood RB)the Browns (ugh, unless they wanna stick with dilfer)the Bears (two RBs, decent WR's... they might stick with orton/grossman tho)
10/4/2005 3:55:52 PM
no texans. i dont want phil to get sacked 30 times a game
10/4/2005 3:58:06 PM
I dont think Seattle will stick with Hasselback much longer so they may join that list. But seriously all these teams need one, just trade him please.
10/4/2005 5:22:09 PM
How about : rivers for carr, carr for rogers, carr replaces favresounds perfect
10/4/2005 5:25:56 PM
I think Rivers will end up in Detroit or even to the new york jets. San diego will get a wide reciever and a defensive player.
10/4/2005 7:35:25 PM
bttt
10/5/2005 2:46:27 AM
baltimore needs him more than any other place and he could really do well there...also wouldnt be a bad thing to see him pull something like Palmer did, he could be the same situation.
10/5/2005 3:17:10 AM
now is the time to trade brees. hes obviously not gonna keep this up and his stock is sky high right now. rivers is of little trade value they could really do big business with brees
10/5/2005 3:24:08 AM
I'm sure its been said before, but some of us dont like to watch the news or read the thread, so I'll say it again:If they trade Brees and he goes on to have a great career, and Rivers isn't what they were expecting (which I dont believe will happen personally), It will be the all time biggest bonehead move in professional sports, only competing with the Red Sox ability to trade away players in their prime.
10/5/2005 8:22:30 AM
^ yeah but Brees isn't anything special so that scenario is pretty unlikely
10/5/2005 8:54:45 AM
262/400, 3159 yds, 27 TDs, 7 INTsThose numbers are pretty damn good. If he keeps that up, he'll have a hell of a career. If he plays like he did for SD's first few games last year or this year, then he'll kill his team.So which one is the real Drew?
10/5/2005 9:17:00 AM
It's hard to look bad at quarterback when your checkdown is LaDanian Tomlinson and you've finally started giving him the ball.
10/5/2005 2:04:19 PM
Yeah Brees ain't all that...his TD numbers are inflated because Gates is such an easy red zone target. Any QB with a luxury like that is gonna have more TD's than his ability would normally dictate. Also LDT gets him an absurd amount of yards after the catch compared to most RB's around the league. His 7 INT's were nice no doubt, but that seems a bit fluky and also chalk that up to every team putting 8 in the box against the Chargers to try to stop LDT. It's easier to limit your INT's when you have only one safety to worry about. Also the Chargers won a lot of games last year so he wasn't throwing from behind very often.Brees is a quality QB don't get me wrong, but he's not an elite QB by any means.... if they could groom Philip for the starting role next year and get some pieces for Brees I think that would be their best option...
10/5/2005 2:34:08 PM
but wolfpack it wouldnt be a complete bust because they would get a good ammount for him in a trade. if they traded rivers for almost nothing and he became a start that would be a tragedy
10/5/2005 2:49:11 PM
^^I agree, but I don't think the Chargers have the luxury of making that decision. They're still in recovery mode since Ryan Leaf, so they can't give up a quality QB... It sucks for Rivers' fans, but SDs best right now is to Franchise Brees one more year (assuming they make the playoffs again this year). But for a franchise like the Chargers, they really can't risk alienating their fanbase by giving up a potentially "franchise" QB. You stick with 2 QBs as long as you can afford it (which would be one more year).
10/5/2005 2:56:52 PM
I dont think anyone on here would mistake me for being a huge Rivers fan.But with Gates/LDT/McCardell I think Rivers would be a fine QB.He's the kind of QB that does best when he has a lot of receiving options because he reads defenses well.Rivers is never gonna have a Bledsoe or Elway arm, but if you surround him with talent he could be a poor man's Carson Palmer I think. If they don't compete for the Super Bowl this year trade Brees for help. Too many cap complications to trade Rivers and Brees is a free agent so it makes it easy.
10/6/2005 3:45:28 PM
classifying you as a rivers' fan wasn't really my intention.i'm just saying, if the chargers make the playoffs, they can't get rid of Brees. The sheer chance that Rivers busts and Brees takes a different team to the playoffs is reason enough to hold onto him. The GM has said they will probably have the cap money to "Franchise" Brees again if they have to. So I think they'd do that, and let him roll for one more year and then worry about it down the road.I agree, trading Rivers isn't an option. But a franchise like the Chargers will take the hit for having two expensive QBs rather than risking going bust at the QB position yet again. But if the Chargers slip and don't make the playoffs, they trade Brees... that's a simple choice.
10/6/2005 3:52:23 PM
The goal is to win the Super Bowl.I don't think they have a super bowl team right now.Trade brees and improve the defense or get another WRNo sense tying up 20% of your cap room on two above average QB's...
