i dont know why theyre laughing at us. their typhoons are generally much weaker than our hurricanes
8/28/2005 4:31:41 PM
ah ha! the storm i had been watchin is now TD 13, soon to be a hurricane....15 N 50 W is the coordinates....my prediction could be right....its travel is NW
8/28/2005 4:31:43 PM
Here comes Lee ^
8/28/2005 4:36:22 PM
is the next 1 right in the middle of this map?

More buoy data:Grand Isle, LA - If Katrina stays on track, the eye should pass over/near this.Southwest Pass, LA - Right at the tip of the Mississippi delta. Should be just east of the track.Isle Dernieres, LA - This should be just west of the track.Bayou LaBranch, LA - In the southwest corner of Lake Ponchartrain.Waveland, MS and Pensacola, FL - 'Residual' water level is the storm surge. These are linked to NDBC and should update as time goes on.1 knot = 1.15 mph[Edited on August 28, 2005 at 4:50 PM. winds are down to 165 but they say the pressure is still dropping which means there is a possibility that the winds arent down and they just couldnt find anythiing higher than 165
8/28/2005 4:54:35 PM
8/28/2005 5:08:36 PM
its not like theres a big difference between 165 and 175....the central pressure is still 902 mb[Edited on August 28, 2005 at 5:15 PM. Reason : .]
8/28/2005 5:14:38 PM
Thats what they just said on CNN. The weather dude said it was the difference between getting run over by a freight train and an 18 wheeler. Your gonna die no matter wut
8/28/2005 5:25:11 PM
bad analogy because i rather get ran over by an 18 wheeler any day. much more chance of survival over a train
8/28/2005 5:36:49 PM
bring it on
8/28/2005 5:39:22 PM
it better not hit on tuesday
8/28/2005 5:40:50 PM
lee will turn offhigh tide new orleans is around 9am its gonna be close
8/28/2005 5:43:56 PM
either way, these people staying in the superdome are really risking it
8/28/2005 5:47:14 PM
thousands of them in line now as the first bands came in
8/28/2005 5:49:58 PM
they said on CNN that they think the superdome will hold up, but engineering analysis has never been completed to prove their assumptions...that's not good
8/28/2005 5:50:45 PM
exactly...if you see on the previous page of this thread, I posted that an article I found stated the Superdome can withstand wind of up to 200 mph....but with potential gusts over that number, why risk it? (well of course if you dont have the transportation, I guess this is the best some can do)
8/28/2005 6:03:54 PM
Yep Lee looks right now that it's going to turn.
8/28/2005 6:12:27 PM
dont ruin my prediction...Lee will hit, the dream had it turning off the edge of NC with the eye landing near EI and then making a turn through VA out to sea.Lee plz to be cat 4 or >

Buy as much Southern Comfort as you can

the news said the superdome can resist 200 mph winds (not really sure how they got that, but still...)
8/28/2005 8:03:14 PM
welcome to the party kid...we already established that
8/28/2005 8:09:33 PM

looks like New Orleans is pretty much getting spared compared to how bad it could be. Storm center passed to the east which means offshore wind flow, meaning less storm surge. However some surge can probably be expected on the north side of the city off of Lake Ponchatrain. The hardest hit areas should be from Gulfport/Biloxi to Mobile where 25-30 feet of storm surge would be likely, meaning the downtown areas will probably be under water. And this was with a weakened Cat 3 storm...

TD13 has fizzled out - no more advisories on it unless it "regenerates".

my dream still lives though
8/29/2005 2:50:16 PM
i am sure there are more than 74k in there, probably closer to 100k, not everyone would be able to fit in the "nose bleed" section, i guess people would start fighting and the strongest survive(the others get thrown to the field) Looks like NO dodged yet another bullet, some flooding, but not as bad had Katrina not jogged to the E(almost on landfalls on the Gulf start going E right before landfall)ONE GOOD THINGlooks like another lull in the tropics[Edited on August 29, 2005 at 3:04 PM.
