don't give me the sarcasm bit -- without posting any type of emoticon, claiming you were being sarcastic is empty. You are simply using it as a lame excuse to cover up your flaming. Face the facts man, you care a lot more about this. Who sounds like more of a fanboy?

neither is the PSPThe DS is a portable GAMING system. It plays games. The PSP is a portable ENTERTAINMENT system. It plays games, movies, photos and music.

HahahhahahahaPablo_price just tried to argue down a product because of its extra features.
7/6/2005 8:52:44 AM
Nintendo DS sucks
7/6/2005 8:59:01 AM
I won't argue that the psp is a damn pretty machine. But I already own a laptop and an mp3 player. I don't need more protability than that. I don't want to watch movies on a portable screen anyway. And so, as a gamer I look at both platforms as gaming devices. One is overly expensive and has a library of ps2 rehashes. One is cheap and has new, creative games. The choice betwen the two as gaming systems is pretty clear.

right

Nintendo DS still sucks

Since they're offering Mario 64 DS for free and that game Meteos has caught my eye, I'll probably pick up a DS soon.Once the PSP gets some good games from Square Enix and Capcom, I might get one.[Edited on July 6, 2005 at 1:18 PM. Reason : .]
7/6/2005 12:57:26 PM
Meteos is great dude. Just get that, Kirby, and Mario 64 and you'll have a blast. In the next couple of months, an assload of AAA titles will be out.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7/6/2005 5:53:10 PM
^right. which is exactly what i have been saying. You dipshits are the ones flaming. We are defending the ability of the device. And if I recall, this thread is PSP versus DS, NOT PSP GAMES VERSUS DS GAMES.
7/6/2005 6:10:21 PM
Noen, you're really looking more and more like a childish fanboy with every post you make in this thread. The primary function of both systems is to play games. If you didn't take the games into account it really would be a one sided battle. Yes the amount of extra things that you can do on the PSP give it an advantage as far as features go and as many people have pointed out (including yourself) the PSP is a much more powerful system. In the end it all comes down to games. Without a comparison of games there would be no comparison at all.[Edited on July 7, 2005 at 12:50 AM. Reason : /b]

for those psp owners who were stupid enough to update (myself included), it looks like there's new hopehttp://www.pspupdates.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4926no software yet, but with the hardware that team Xecuter has come up with, it looks like downgrading the firmware will be a distinct possibility in the near future...not only that, but it the psp should become a lot more open and customizable...note: so far, the only thing they have developed is hardware that allows you to connect usb storage devices, but this hardware also seems to have given hackers a great deal more access inside the psp
7/7/2005 1:48:46 AM
anybody on here played coded arms yet?i want to get another game, but don't feel like spending $$$ on one when I know I'm gonna be buying GTA when it comes out.All I have is wipeout and lumines right now.. I was thinking of hot shots golf cos I figure it's got some good replay value
7/8/2005 8:56:59 PM
I played the Jap version for about 5 minutes. It seemed alright. I never really liked FPS games that much so it wasn't my cup of tea, but if you like them, it seems to be getting pretty good reviews from both gamers and review sites.

I've gotta side with Noen. I don't see him picking one system over the other, he's just saying why HE prefers the PSP. WTF.
7/8/2005 9:20:50 PM
perhaps "childish fanboy" was the wrong term to use. "Argumentative prick" really fits better.

PSP
7/8/2005 11:16:56 PM
so I finally played the psp tonight. Nice system. Until you play the games How are people so entranced by lumines? I thought it was mega boring, just dropping square blocks. It moved like a dead snail. Meteos > Lumines like you'd never believe (imo)
7/9/2005 2:19:55 AM
7/9/2005 2:31:16 AM
I didnt play hotshots golf but im sure id like it. Meteos is nothing like lumines -- the only reason there are comparisions is b/c its the same developer, Q?. Other than that, the gameplay is not a damn thing like it. Regardless if you have a psp or not, if you own a DS wo/ meteos.......you really need to act now.
7/9/2005 2:56:43 AM
The best game, hands down for PSP is Mercury. It's equivalent to what Katamari Damacy brought back the PS2, that is, innovative game design.
7/9/2005 4:29:00 AM
I picked up a DS, Mario 64, Kirby Canvas Curse, and Meteos today. Meteos has been a lot of fun so far and Mario 64 plays pretty well even without the analog stick. Haven't opened Kirby yet, but overall I'm pretty happy with my purchase atm. BTW, according to Gamestop, the free Mario 64 offer runs out July 12th.
7/9/2005 6:08:29 PM
Because we really need to make the DS even bigger and bulkier. The PSP should have out a CompacFlash / SD / MMC / IDE adapter in the next couple of months.
7/9/2005 8:25:08 PM
It's slightly bigger than a GBA cart.
7/10/2005 12:51:45 AM
how good is the screen on the DS for watching movies?i know it's not gonna be as good as the psp, but do you think it's good enough, or just gonna be a waste of time?
7/10/2005 7:37:03 AM
On the DS you can watch TWO MOVIES AT ONCE and I hear you can TOUCH ONE OF THEM!!!
7/10/2005 9:48:11 AM
What movie do you plan on Watching on the DS?A 4 min AVI?
7/10/2005 10:51:22 AM
Does the DS even have the horsepower to decode a divx avi? That's not a slam, I just honestly don't think so. I think any videos played on the DS would have to be low res / low bitrate. Those videos that came out for the GBA were pretty craptacular.
7/10/2005 10:45:00 PM
I just bought a PSP. I already have a DS but I don't really play it.Looking forward to voiding the shit out of the psp warranty....at least metaphorically.
7/11/2005 5:24:49 PM
^Did you get a 1.50? I've heard reports of people buying them new and getting 1.51 versions. That would suck.
7/11/2005 6:15:43 PM
Uh, the system software version is 1.50. What does that affect?I need to read up on this stuff.]
7/11/2005 11:49:25 PM
Currently 1.0 (original jap versions) and 1.50 (original US versions and later jap versions) are the only ones that can run homebrew software and the downloaded ISOs. Whatever you do, don't upgrade your firmware to 1.51 or 1.52. Then you'll be SOL until someone cracks that/finds a way to downgrade.
7/12/2005 6:12:58 AM
Gotcha. Is there a good site for general information on this type of stuff?
7/12/2005 9:15:28 AM
Noen, I just don't get it. When did you become a 12 year old fan girl who argues unreasonable points because they just went on their first period?

7/12/2005 5:33:08 PM
http://badacetechshow.com/psp_itrip.htmThis is pretty badass. That guy put an iTrip inside his PSP and also has a way to change the frequency it broadcasts on from within the menu of the PSP itself. Cool stuff.
7/13/2005 8:27:12 PM
that is fucking awesome
7/13/2005 9:17:45 PM
That's amazing.
7/13/2005 10:58:39 PM
Not quite as cool as the iTrip mod, but this guy has found a way to connect sega controllers to the psp. He says that you'll be able to use the controllers to play as the second (or third/fourth) player in multiplayer games (emulated not original psp games obviously) I guess the next step would be to get it to work with dual shock controllers. http://www.ohnitsch.net/pspsms/

Hmm, I'm still having lots of problems. I'll hopefully figure it out.
