special top ten best things about WW on vh-1 right now
7/13/2005 8:02:45 PM
oh dammitburton's made the ending different from the book [not that i care what the ending of the book is, just the fact that he changed it]
7/13/2005 8:30:35 PM
I might see this movie sometime soon.
7/13/2005 8:33:55 PM
We finished assembling the film at the IMAX last night and after two technical screening I have to say it is a lot better than what I thought it would be. The Oompa Loompas (actually played by only one guy) and their songs are hilarious.
7/14/2005 3:13:36 PM
any movie involving tim burton, johnny depp and danny elfaman is more than likely going to be really good.has johnny depp ever been in a bad movie?
7/14/2005 10:20:08 PM
secret window and ninth gate were pretty crappy, and once upon a time in mexico wasn't great, but overall i like his movies
7/14/2005 10:33:50 PM
ninth gate was just weird. secret window was bad despite depp. i dont know that i've ever disliked him in a movie, just the movie itself.^^^i have a feeling i might've liked the oompa loompas a lot better if i could've understood what they were saying.
7/15/2005 12:40:05 AM
I can't put my finger on why, but I liked Ninth Gate. It somehow reminded me of "Eyes Wide Shut", which I also liked.
7/15/2005 9:17:14 AM
i can't wait to see it at the IMAX tonight!
7/15/2005 9:26:10 AM
I liked the Ninth Gate's idea of piecing together riddles hidden in 3 books-- fun mystery to watch! Can't wait to see Tim Burton's twist on this story. I hope Willy Wonka has flashbacks to a dark and troubled childhood ( a Tim Burton trademark)
7/15/2005 9:43:33 AM
The reviews are good. I am going to have to go see this. (Well, I was already going to.)
7/15/2005 9:51:50 AM
^^ he is supposed tohave flashbacks, that is[Edited on July 15, 2005 at 9:52 AM. Reason : .]
7/15/2005 9:52:28 AM
Ninth Gate pissed off my inner librarian because no real archivist would ever handle a book like that while SMOKING. God. I need therapy for getting annoyed at this stupid shit.DeppasWonka's hair looks STUPID. I'm sure he's a nice person on the inside though.
7/15/2005 11:13:36 AM
what always made me mad was the lacking of a follow up w/The Glass Elevator movie.
7/15/2005 11:24:22 AM
^^ Been awhile since I've seen it. Which archivist are you referring to?
7/15/2005 11:49:03 AM
Someone who messes around in archives. Like, of Old Books. And it was Depp smoking all over. ;p
7/15/2005 11:50:36 AM
Haha, I know what an archivist is. And yes, I distinctly remember Depp smoking all over the place too. I can see why it bothers you but then again that never bothered me. I think it goes along with his character. Priests arent supposed to lie and sodomize little boys but there are some that do anyway. So Depp is one of the "smoking archivists" [Edited on July 15, 2005 at 11:54 AM. Reason : ]
7/15/2005 11:54:06 AM
Yeah Depp was supposed to be sleazy in that movie anyway-- like when he ripped off that couple and ran off with the the Don Quixote collection, or when his friend at the bookstore was murdered and hung upside down on the staircase, he didn't seem to care that much. What I didn't get was why that one guy kept his collection of priceless books on a wide open floor of some room in his mansion-- maybe he JUST got done cleaning them and left them there?

^What did he hate so much about it?[Edited on July 15, 2005 at 6:56 PM. Reason : Just Gene Wilder?]

7/15/2005 9:08:09 PM
Saw this at 5:15 @ Raleigh Grande, wonderful movie.Strange and tastefully done. I loved it. My favorite line that had me rolling but no one else found it funny:"Really, stop mumbling, it's really bumming me out" (or something close)...hilarious
7/15/2005 11:33:33 PM
Very funny, Depp is spot on, a couple of excellent references, two Mel Brooks jokes...money well spent.
7/16/2005 1:05:59 AM
camera jokes i assume?
7/16/2005 5:07:33 PM
saw it last night and i thought it was awesome. Tim Burton did an EXTRAORDINARY job visually. i was impressed the whole movie with that. moreso than almost any other thing hes done. danny elfman delivers yet again. and johnn depp(tho there were a handful of times i thought he wasnt at his best) was 100x better than the trailers made him out to be as willy wonka. loved it
7/16/2005 5:13:50 PM
pages 1-4 OMG JOHNNY DEPP AS WONKA THIS MOVIE WILL BE HORRIBLEpage 5 this was a really good movie
7/16/2005 5:26:06 PM
7/16/2005 10:09:38 PM
i enjoyed the movie [i havent seen the original in a long while so i cant make an accurate comparison but i wanna say this one is better]depp really made me LOL a lot and he was really weird but i liked it"good morning, sunshine""really you should stop mumbling b/c i cant hear a word you are saying"AND if you hate his hair, well then, charlie makes fun of it in the movie for sec too****am i the only one who is really impressed w/ depp and his acting? i mean he can play these weird guys like jack sparrow and wonka but then he can be really serious too[Edited on July 16, 2005 at 11:32 PM. Reason : when he zones out it makes me giggle too ]

i really liked tim burtons touch to it. augustus always had a cartoonish, flat look to him, and the way the bucket's house reminded me of nightmare before christmas was cool.
7/18/2005 11:00:40 AM
^^^ haha a couple hours later after posting that i thought "i think i put sunshine instead of starshine"oopsies!!
7/18/2005 7:46:14 PM
Yes Depp was mighty impressive. I laughed and felt very weird about laughing...the movie was bright as could be (color wise, literally) but VERY dark in tone..I dug it
7/18/2005 7:49:24 PM
i miss slugworth
7/18/2005 9:38:02 PM
g00d moviei will def buy it when it comes out
7/18/2005 9:44:35 PM
I thought it was good despite a few glaring problems, mainly the sloppy CGI. I didn't like some other things, but all in all it was an enjoyable movie.
7/18/2005 9:52:34 PM
depp pissed me off till about 3/4 of the way throughi found him annoying until thenby the time i grew into his character, it was over
7/18/2005 9:52:42 PM
Out of all the times I've seen it so far I've only noticed one major error, towards the end when Wonka's getting his shoes shined by Charlie you can see a cameraman in Depp's sunglasses when he glances to his right (the viewer's left, and you probably would only see it in the IMAX version). Other than that one tiny mistake I still love this movie, and I seriously want an Oompa Loompa, I think Deep Roy did a great job (he was also in Star Wars VI, Planet of the Apes, and Big Fish).
7/19/2005 12:21:55 AM
I liked it alot- My only complaint were the new oompa loompa songs- it was like listening to the backstreet boys on acid
7/21/2005 12:03:53 AM
^ It's important to note that the new songs all feature Dahl's original lyrics on top of Elfman compositions. I didn't much care for them except for the Veruca/squirrel room song which was excellent.
7/21/2005 12:34:37 AM
and what happened to the golden eggs??I noticed during the credits that the lyrics were written by Dahl butthe originals are still much betterWhy havent they made a BFG or james and the giant peach movie yet?[Edited on July 21, 2005 at 12:55 AM. Reason : Matilda and The Witches have been done]
7/21/2005 12:51:29 AM
i dont think there were any golden eggs in the book... i donno though it was a long time ago that i actually read that book
7/21/2005 1:12:51 AM
they already made a 'James and the Giant Peach' movie
7/21/2005 1:16:08 AM
7/21/2005 1:57:40 AM
^^ Tim Burton and Henry Selick made it, even.
