Was skiing. Spent 2 days at Bridger Bowl (when hanging around Bozeman), 2 days at Big Sky (where our condo was) and 1 day at Moonlight Basin. If you want I can let you know when I plan ski trips again next year. I planned trips to Vail and this Montana trip this year. Always room for one more.
3/15/2012 2:18:24 PM
i've never been skiing, so i would be the weak link while all you guys are flying down black diamonds and Todd is breaking his pelvis
3/15/2012 2:26:45 PM
LOL, that is true. Well you're always welcome to join anyway, as cold weather, snow and craft beer is always a great time. There's a good chance that the Raleigh crew is going to Breckenridge next year.
3/15/2012 2:34:38 PM
continuing the subject of travel only slightly, i've been trying to think of another affordable beer-cation destination that I could get to and enjoy in a weekend? Asheville and Charleston i've done. I feel like the big ones Colorado and Oregon I would want to dedicate more time aside from Beer to see more so I'm not thinking about those.
3/15/2012 2:45:35 PM
True, but remember that flights to Denver are pretty cheap, like $200. I mean I can't even drive round trip to Charlotte for under $50 so its not too bad in my book.
3/15/2012 2:48:49 PM
i did a four day all out brewery tour in portland a few years ago, tacked onto a snowboarding trip in whistler. it was awesome.
3/15/2012 2:52:12 PM
that would be awesome.

18 breweries in Denver city-limits, 5-6 more plan to open by summer. That doesn't even include breweries in Boulder, Longmont, Golden (20-30min. away) and of course Fort Collins (45min. away)Road Trip from Raleigh:See page 36, I was able to hit up 5-6 solid breweries in Delaware/DC/Pennsylvania area/message_topic.aspx?topic=572440&page=36#14841595[Edited on March 15, 2012 at 4:35 PM. I forgot to mention Cold Smoke Scotch Ale, by Kettle House Brewing. Damn good beer, it really hit the spot when we were drinking slope side at Bridger Bowl
3/15/2012 4:35:47 PM
Found KBS late last nightand 2 bottles of Dogfish Head 75 Minute
3/16/2012 9:47:39 AM
Where did you find the kbs?
3/16/2012 9:51:31 AM

http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/337/78927/?ba=bdcravensthis just became available, from a brewery up the road from me. relatively easy to get too.at $5.50/22oz, it's an amazing deal and fucking delicious. seriously, into favorite new beer territory. this is saying a lot, because i've always thought that st. arnolds pretty much blows, but people here dig it. this is totally new territory.there are some breweries in texas that are starting to put out some exceptional things. karbach, one or two of the real ales, jester king, (512), ranger creek, and a few more.
3/16/2012 10:22:51 AM
nm, looks like it wasn't JK as they aren't out of Texas yet]
3/16/2012 10:31:33 AM
yeah most of them have really, really, really small distribution areas at this point.karbach just started bottling/canning. prior to that it was kegs to bars only.
3/16/2012 10:39:00 AM
3/16/2012 10:56:00 AM
yeah, the chaos surrounding and the low supply had almost every retailer limiting sales to 1 bottle per customer. I wasn't even planning/hoping to get any but the GF and I went out to watch the NCAA games and get a late dinner and just so happened to go to the tap room next to TW so I walked in 10 minutes before they closed and asked. GF got a bottle of Rose de Gambrinus earlier in the day, and that along with KBS and 75 minute made for a decent haul
3/16/2012 11:00:25 AM
this is why i trade. i'm setting up a trade right now 1:1 Pliny for KBS.
3/16/2012 11:09:10 AM
growler of Aviator SteamHead for the games today/tonight...it's fine, but have enjoyed their other seasonals a little more
3/16/2012 8:27:29 PM
Opened a Trader Joes 2011 tonight. It was just awful. I'm actually having trouble enjoying my other beer because I keep expecting to taste the TJ's.
3/16/2012 11:14:46 PM
^Same experience I had
3/17/2012 11:47:22 AM
^^man, i have one of those in my cabinet as we speak. I was hoping ^'s experience was an isolated one but it's not looking that way.
3/17/2012 2:07:43 PM
I had one about a month ago that I don't remember being bad. I got really drunk that night though
3/17/2012 2:54:40 PM
no luck with the CBS at Sam's. they raffled away 23 of them. I did get a 4 pack of KBS thanks to a friend's ticket.

Beasley's is getting an exclusive Fullsteam wheat beer soon, don't know what it's called but it tastes like lemon pepper. pretty great.
3/19/2012 11:04:02 PM
^had one of the pilot batches at the brewery, they were calling it R&D Honey White at the time - good stuff"Brewed with tellicherry black pepper, North Carolina honey, and North Carolina oats"[Edited on March 19, 2012 at 11:25 PM. Reason : l]
3/19/2012 11:24:12 PM

I'm guessing you traded for Hunahpu, what about Nugget Nectar? What's to the left of Hunahpu?
3/23/2012 6:46:36 PM
are there any year-round bourbon beers available in NC?
3/23/2012 6:49:02 PM
Aprihop is lacking this year. Hmm, year round I'm not sure. Did you pick up any Foothills BBA people's porter, it was released a few weeks ago and readily available
3/23/2012 6:51:00 PM

got to enjoy this over the weekend
3/25/2012 7:11:35 PM
and... what did you think of it?
3/26/2012 8:05:12 PM
Had a 2010 bottle of Dogfish Head Squall 90 minute the other day. Shouldn't have been aged that long, but it was absolutely delicious.
3/26/2012 8:38:45 PM
^^haha sorry.. I really enjoyed it. It was deliciously smooth but honestly I didn't know what I was participating in until after the fact. I met up with some casual friends at the local FS and they were in the middle of sharing some personal brought in beers. A 5 ounce taster was passed to me with a few of them saying i had to try it. it was after the fact that i learned it was a world-class BA rated beer.
3/27/2012 11:15:29 AM
it's on my list of beers to try, BA-English Barleywines are one of my favorite styles. I've had Sucaba (Abacus) and Bligh's, probably my next trade will be to try to get King Henry and/or Mother of All Storms.
3/27/2012 11:50:09 AM
They're tapping a keg of the Foothills Sexual Chocolate at my local beer store today. It will be a pain in the ass for me to leave work early and get there in time to fill my growler. Is it worth it??
3/27/2012 2:47:55 PM
sounds like a lot of hurdles, might not be.
3/27/2012 3:01:30 PM
I thought it was good, but not good enough to go through any trouble to get it.
3/27/2012 4:23:25 PM
Picked up one of each of the Cantillon (bottle-limit)[Edited on March 28, 2012 at 6:55 PM. Reason : .]

3/29/2012 6:36:55 PM
anyone had Green Flash Palate Wrecker?
3/29/2012 6:42:35 PM
I have not but 149 IBUs is ridiculous.
3/29/2012 7:52:58 PM
i want one!
3/29/2012 9:02:42 PM
Watched the Pack Sweet 16 game at Cascade Brewing over about 7 different sours, with a stop at Hair of the Dog prior, good times.Been keeping an eye on http://hawriverales.blogspot.com/ . Could turn out well - good to see somebody in NC experimenting with wild yeasts.
3/29/2012 9:20:07 PM
I was finally able to get a hold of a Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA. I really don't like IPAs because they are too bitter and have a bad aftertaste, but the 120 was freakin awesome!!! It was fruity sweet, not bitter and had a nice finish.
