anybody catch TOB on the Packman show on either Thurs or Fri? sounded optimistic
4/5/2009 1:05:03 AM
we need to do really well in football to make up for UNC winning the basketball NC and them probably sweeping us next year
4/5/2009 1:31:10 AM
We have a very favorable schedule for us to get some national recognition. We can and will beat a depleted USC team in C-F on national television. I'd love for it to be a beatdown and for us to be able to chant "ACC, ACC, ACC..." like those guys chanting SEC last year during our game. Perhaps VT could follow that up with a win nice over Alabama in Atlanta that Saturday to help change the perception of the ACC to start the season. We have 8 home games with all of them being very winnable. We win all of those home games and steal a couple on the road and we are no less than Peach/Gator Bowl bound. If we are really lucky than our main Atlantic competition, FSU, will be distracted by the violations or overhyped to begin the season. The @FSU and @VT games will make or break our season. Despite those two games the most important game may very well be the @WF game. Although we will have been tested early on in the season by USC and Pitt, a road ACC win to open up the league schedule could set the tone early on for the team to make a run to the ACC Championship game and for the staff to do well in recruiting. We need this guy to play like he did at the end of the season and stay healthy.
4/5/2009 2:12:24 AM
^ I'm trying to avoid that type of optimism. Your way of thinking was my old way of thinking. For now, I'll assume we'll lose every game. That way if we win 1 I can be happy. In seriousness, I'm excited for the recruiting classes, it seems like we are going after players that fit what we need, not just hype. It all comes down to injuries, if we can stay healthy there is some talent for sure and potential. But that is a big if...
4/5/2009 2:34:28 AM
^the thing i've noticed about these last 2 recruiting classes is that with the guys we have gotten, they are football players. Under amato, we would always get the athletic guys that looked good on paper and when they were running, but sometimes they weren't really football players. These guys we're getting now know what to do when they're on the field. And thats exciting

EvaluationSinger is a very solid safety. He shows athleticism and possesses excellent football instincts. He attacks the line of scrimmage downhill at proper angles coming up from the free safety position on run support. A reliable openfield tackler but doesn't always make picture perfect tackles. Needs to show consistency at keeping head up and driving legs on contact. Takes good pursuit angles when ball goes away and uses the sideline as the twelfth man. Reads route progression well and gets a good break on the deep ball. Flashes high pointing the football and has the soft hands to bring the football down in a crowd. Dangerous to the opposition once the interception is made, has the ability to bring it back all the way. Very good special teams player. As a returner, has the courage to field the punt and head north and south with urgency and showing the ability to cut and follow blocks in the openfield. Possesses good speed and quickness in all phases of the game. A very determined coverage unit player that gets down the field quickly and can avoid blockers. Singer has the tools to be a very good free safety and will become more consistent once he gains some more bulk and overall strength. He is a talented athlete that is a smart player and field general from the safety position.Singer scored a 77:70-79: Good ProspectPlayer does not dominate in every game, especially when matched up against the top players in the country. Could become a good starter at the Division I level.[Edited on April 7, 2009 at 9:29 PM. Reason : []

HOLYFUCKINGSHITWOOTTHESKYISFALLINGSHORYUKEN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Both are good pickups. By all accounts Singer can hold his own, and was a legitimate BCS prospect.
4/7/2009 9:50:35 PM
The best part, is that they both said they want to act as recruiters for us and help bring the best talent to State. That's the best part about an early commitment, just ask Glennon.
4/7/2009 10:00:35 PM
Singer would have probably gotten a BCS offer somewhere with or without Crisp. Last year Singer had 77 tackles and 3 interceptions. He also played receiver, and returned punts and kicks. He runs a 4.5 flat 40. Chapel Hill HS isn't exactly a terrible program either. Georgia, Duke, and South Carolina were on him pretty hard, and North Carolina was also recruiting him.
4/7/2009 10:03:52 PM
Nice to get this kind of momentum moving into the next FB recruiting class. Hopefully we have a strong season this year and impress more top recruits we are targeting!
4/7/2009 10:09:32 PM
GOOD NEWS!!!!!
4/7/2009 10:21:36 PM
Crisp should be a 5* once all is said and done.The likely scholarship number for the class of 2010 is 16. Here’s a hypothetical breakdown of how the class may play out:Quarterback - 1Running Back - 1 or 2Wide Receiver - 0 or 1Tight End - 0 or 1Offensive Linemen - 3 or 4Defensive End - 2Defensive Tackle - 2Linebacker - 1Safety - 1 or 2Cornerback - 1 or 2

Damn I don't know how I just saw this. I told you guys that our O-line would be the least of our worries with TOB. Mattes, Jones, Wallace, Crisp.....we're going to have solid and huge lines!
4/8/2009 1:45:51 AM
are you really trying to claim credit for telling people that TOB is known for his offensive lines?
4/8/2009 1:57:20 AM
No smartass know-it-all. We have had people the last two seasons talk about how bad our o-line play has been.

4/8/2009 7:44:28 AM
^^I would like to know what the latest news on Creecy is also
4/8/2009 7:51:01 AM
^ According to you-know-who Creecy will be calling Crisp later in the week. I'd guess Creecy is next
4/8/2009 8:03:20 AM
The last article on him said he wanted to take a bunch of unofficials before he decided. Then again, I think Crisp said he'd wait until the end of his senior year to announce; so who knows? He has us as his favorite followed by duke and wake.
4/8/2009 8:05:10 AM
I'd be pretty surprised if Creecy ended up anywhere other than State.
4/8/2009 8:19:57 AM
Creecy and AJ Marshall were here again Saturday and they both really enjoyed their visits said TC's dad.Creecy said Glennon looked really good but the player that surprised him most was Brandon Barnes.
