The family's public statement was that he has a full range of motion and no swelling, and should be good to go soon.Haven't seen any other information.

Painter will most likely project WAY higher soon...and we have a good shot actually, which is good that this staff can see talent early on.
8/6/2015 3:56:09 AM
haven't seen anything confirmed about DSJr, but a post on Rivals said that there was speculation the injury was worse than initially reported. that's just speculation, so we'll see.

1:18 mark. Guess it's good Dr. Flick isn't returning.

Just watch the highlights of Rowan and im very impressed with his well-rounded offensive skillset, haven't seen his defense though. He has a nice jump shot, can finish around the rim, and plus has an accurate floater which is very important and is something I hope Barber add to his arsenal next season. He's strictly right-handed at the moment so if he can finish with his left hand that would make him difficult to guard. I think he makes an impact as a freshman and will definitely help fill in the gaps in our lineup.

8/6/2015 10:11:28 AM
^^In my opinion his only impact will be spreading defenses as a stand still sharp shooter (scott wood). He has a polished and balanced offensive game yes, but going from high school to ACC defenders is going to limit him in year 1. I am hoping for a Nik Stauskas like improvement from freshman to sophomore year.
8/7/2015 3:09:56 PM
It Looks like he already has more physicality and movement than Scott Wood ever did. Just based off of the three or four Videos that I saw of him, I do expect him to get some garbage buckets in the same way that TJ did.But just because he's White and shoots threes, I don't think that we can expect another Wood out there spreading the defense with an automatic shot. But yeah, I more or less agree with that Statement.[Edited on August 8, 2015 at 9:01 AM. DSJ had surgery, hasn't come out what the specific injury washttp://m.fayobserver.com/blogs/sports/acc_basketball/dennis-smith-jr-has-surgery-on-injured-left-knee/article_772e6d72-3d2e-11e5-94cb-371670aef35d.html?mode=jqm

Gott needs to get on this for 2018
8/8/2015 11:05:07 PM
He could develop to be the best big man ever. Jesus christ. On the bright side, you dont have to worry about people paying him off. His family has some money.
8/8/2015 11:38:08 PM
Is that a joke? The corrupt Sudanese government basically took everything he earned. It's fucking crazy that he's only 15 years old and already has that size and skillset though]

Well he clearly can't transfer to NC State with the 2-year transfer rule, so not sure it's really news that matters to us.
8/10/2015 8:27:31 AM
And he's not a good player. Most important factor in a transfer discussion.

iirc, a lot of the money he donated to his people was misappropriated to the government. but Bol Bol doesn't have the money that a Steph Curry had growing up, for example.

Dennis Smith Jr. did tear his ACL....out 6-9 months
8/10/2015 3:57:39 PM
can somebody with Insider access post?http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/ncbrecruiting/on-the-trail/insider/post?id=14305[Edited on August 10, 2015 at 4:02 PM. Reason : ^]

^^ this probably helps our chances, but sad to see the kid hurt
8/10/2015 4:16:35 PM
^^ Dennis Smith Jr., the No. 1 point guard and No. 4 overall player in the ESPN 100 Class of 2016, had successful surgery Friday to repair a torn left ACL, according to Smith’s father, Dennis Smith Sr.Smith injured the knee while driving to the basket in the semifinals of the Adidas Nations event on Aug. 2. An MRI later revealed he needed surgery."Dennis had successful surgery on a very fixable problem,” said Dr. Claude T. Moorman III, Director of Sports Medicine and Head Team Physician at Duke, who performed the surgery. “He now is in the early phase of his rehabilitation, and I expect a full recovery."Smith, the Gatorade Player of the Year in North Carolina last season, is expected to have a six-to-nine-month recovery time before he is able to step back onto the court.Moorman also performed successful surgery last year on No. 1 2016 recruit Harry Giles, who had ACL, MCL and meniscus damage repaired before starring on the AAU circuit this summer.Smith recently cut his list to six schools -- Kentucky, North Carolina, Louisville, Duke, Wake Forest and NC State -- and Smith’s father said the injury has not altered the recruiting landscape for his son."Post-surgery, the recruiting did not stop,” Smith Sr. said. “Duke, UNC, NC State and Wake Forest all called saying nothing has changed, and that they still want him.”
8/10/2015 4:33:04 PM
So, we will possibly suck again?
8/10/2015 7:00:06 PM
Says he had the surgery at Duke. This means he will probably be there all the time for rehab and coach K will swoop in and get his claws in him. It's not fair. And get well soon.
8/10/2015 7:52:06 PM
"You thought that surgery was free?"
8/10/2015 8:01:32 PM
I heard coach k came by and waved his hand at the doctor and said he won't need to pay for this surgery jedi style.
8/10/2015 8:03:55 PM
K will somehow convince him to be a backup point guard for Duke and stay 4 years
8/10/2015 8:04:52 PM
My dad had surgery at Duke. He is not a Duke fan now.

We can do the surgery and give him a dog ACL that never tires.
8/11/2015 5:07:45 PM
^^you done fucked it up
8/11/2015 5:31:53 PM
we should acquire St. Mary's and turn it into a bomb ass medical/dental/pharmacy campus - even have the quasi-medical sciences like chiropractics, optometry, and podiatry. then we acquire Campbell's law school and TAKE OVER DA STATE.Make UNC what UOhio is to OSU or U. Lousiana is to LSU. [Edited on August 12, 2015 at 11:55 AM. Reason : plans]
8/12/2015 11:54:45 AM
Podiatry isn't a quasi-medical science. Podiatrists do surgery, prescribe medications, go through residency and see patients in the hospital. They aren't like they were 50 years ago where all they did was cast for orthotics, & cut corns and calluses. Just saying. But yes I agree that we should expand our graduate programs to elevate the overall prestige of our university. The UNC people against us getting a medical school say we don't need more than four medical schools in the state are doing so to prevent UNC from being affected. I mean Philadelphia alone has five medical schools, why can't our entire state have one more?
8/12/2015 1:17:02 PM
My friend's dog tore his ACL twice. True story.
8/12/2015 1:19:00 PM
Did that guy really just compare optometry and podiatry to fucking chiropractic?
8/12/2015 1:41:53 PM
Optometry is such crap, just the other day an optometrist gave me weird little clear things to jam into my eyeballs and told me it would let me see things far away from me. What a quack, that never worked before when I tried it with cling wrap.

On my phone, can't post the whole article. Sounds like we are only on his list because DSJ and Bam are high on us. Basically if both commit here, he might come too. Otherwise we seem like a distant 7th based on what else was written about the other schools.
8/14/2015 7:17:46 PM
^kinda weird how that works. elite players wanna play with other elite players (duh), but they also all want lots of playing time and to be able to showcase their own skills. definitely a fine line with that kind of thing. definitely makes what Calipari does at UK all the more impressive.
