Seattle has had their own offensive problems this season too, and with the way this defensive is playing anything can happen in that game.

Bell probably set that Whitaker screen pass TD .GIF as his background since it's the only footage of him not getting called for holding or a false start

I, too, think we match up better with Seattle but I'd rather play Green Bay because then when Detroit knocks off Seattle, the NFC Championship game will be played in Bank of America Stadium

Something they've always done after home playoff games I believe. It took them a while to come back out so I assume the word had to filter down from someone. John Kasay was always the one to lead it but he's finally not around hah.

All home playoff games or just home playoff wins? Because in that case it hasn't happened in a looooooooooong time.

Also, Luke Kuechly might just be the smartest athlete in the NFL. He knows the game so well and always seems to know exactly what the opposing offense is planning to do. Of course he can't stop every play on his own, but I feel like his leadership is what makes the rest of the defense capable of everything they do.

I live out of market and work Sunday mornings (East coast games are usually on at 10am here) so I don't get to watch the Panthers play much. I read recaps and look at stats after each game, but there have been few nationally televised games this season in prime time when I can go watch at a bar (except when I was on the east coast for Thanksgiving and that awful Vikings game).

I've been a fan since '95, I just haven't been able to follow along as much the last couple of years being on the west coast.

I thought you were a Giants fan?

If we play Seattle it will be Sat @ 8. Green Bay would be Sunday @ 1

Ventured over to the seahawks subreddit last night and their cockiness is unparalleled. I really hope we end up in the Northwest Saturday evening.

Cowboys win, Panthers play @ Seattle

Lions win, Panthers play @ Green Bay. In this scenario, if the Panthers beat the Packers and the Lions beat the Seahawks, the NFC Championship game would be in Charlotte.

Yeah, they might have won, but Cam still has "attitude problems." He wore a towel over his head and made hand motions! Start Anderson vs. Seattle.

An actual tweet from some radio guy in ATL. He then goes cite that Cam wears a towel on his head as further proof that Cam doesn't get it.

The thing with Cam is that there plenty of things you can criticize about his play. The inconsistent accuracy, wild decision making at times (that attempted pass to a Cardinal's d-lineman was McCown bad), and taking bad sacks to knock us out of scoring range. Instead his critics attack him personally by calling out the way he dresses or his "demeanor". These people are pure haters, not football analysts, and Cam seems to have more of them than any player in the league.

I love Mr. Newton, and it's evident that his abilities, even when he's not using them, benefit the team enormously.

But he is a total ham, and I don't know what that quality does for his overall leadership ability as quarterback of the team. Is he the leader of the team?

Also, I'm confused by the limping/grimacing in-game but then hopping around everywhere and grinning on the sidelines. If he's gonna fake hurting for the next opponent, he should probably keep up the act, right?

Gruden was spot on talking about his throwing mechanics, he needs to step forward into his throws so they don't sail as much as they do

Completely agree. I'm a Cam Newton fan. I just enjoy watching him play and I like his attitude and all that stuff. I know I'm biased about it and at at times probably defend him too much. But what I can't understand is people criticizing his character and personality when there are very legitimate criticisms one could make about his on the field play. Like plenty of others have said, his mechanics seem inconsistent and definitely could use refinement. He does a lot of things really well. He also has a lot of things he could improve on.

I'm not sure if the Newton hate comes from his shady recruitment to Auburn. Or because he stole a computer like 7 years. But it's funny how people over look past transgressions of come QBs (Peyton was accused of sexual harassment at Tennessee, but we all choose to overlook that) but can't look past Newton's. Or if it's because his personality and stuff isn't exactly typical of most QBs. His celebrations and stuff like that you often see out of WRs or RBs but usually not QBs, I guess. But all of that is really weak, IMO.

It's normal to hate sports figures for irrational reasons. That's just kinda part of sports. But attacking their character and stuff, with no real basis, is what I can't understand. Especially in the media, I get that fans say stupid shit and have unjustifiable "takes" on players. But just have the balls to say "I hate the way Cam Newton carries himself, he seems like a dick" instead of trying to justify the hate with bullshit like "what he wears in a postgame interview proves he doesn't get it and never will".

Quote :

I mean...I think it's kinda weird to wear a tux in a postgame interview. But I don't think it's any kind of reflection of whether or not he's leader or some contrived bullshit like that.

His teammates seem to really like him and view him as the leader of the team from everything I've read in interviews and stuff like that. Never seen anything about teammates not respecting him or any kind of locker room controversy.

When you win you can wear whatever you want. I he had come out in a tux after a loss I'd be much more appalled.

Okay, then that's all that matters.

It's not like he needs to lead me anywhere, and I certainly like him (and his personality) more than some of the other whiny/bitchy QBs I've gotten to see.

glad to know that there's an outcome-dependent dress code

IMO, each member of the losing team should wear hardhats and boots, because they better get to work during the offseason

Like I said, that's just kinda what I've seen/read about the Panthers and Newton. Obviously none of us know firsthand what goes on in the locker room. But I'm with you. There's been no indication of a divided locker room or anything like that. And if his teammates really like him, then that's good enough for me.

Also, RE: Cam's tux. I don't follow NBA close enough. But it seems like a lot of NBA stars wear kinda unique clothing in postgames. And I don't really ever see anything about them not "getting it". I mostly just jokes about how funny Russell Westbrook or Dwyane Wade look. But nobody insinuating that they don't "get it"

Westbrook and Wade dress like that because they have no class. Cam is getting paid by Sears to wear crap from his clothing line. That's why he wore a tuxedo.

Real talk, I don't care who we play next weekend. I know it's hard to forget the record, but this team has as good a shot as any to make a deep run. We can stop the run, we can run the ball, and our DBs contest passes. The wild card is Newton, an elite QB would jump at the chance to make a playoff run with this team. The NFL is fucking weird, who knows what could happen to make us hopelessly shitty next year (see: 49ers), this could be as good a chance as we get for a while. We're healthy, and the mix of young talent peaking vs veterans is what you want. It's up to Cam to figure out a way to put up 21+ to give our D a chance.

i'm fine with that. either opponent was gonna be tough and both have strong home field advantage.

plus, playing seattle won't conflict with the state/duke basketball game

Not supposed to be real cold, which I would have been more worried about in GB, but possibly raining. It's hard to beat a team 4 straight times!
