I guess the fag deleted the other thread.Anyway, any new coach hired in the ACC should come from a program in a major conference such as the Big 12 or SEC. ACC coaches don't know how to play big boy football

What other thread? Bud Foster would be more than sufficient. Other that that I don't think there is anyone state would go after.

arguing about the punt on 4th and 1 is irrelevantwe never should have been in that situation in the first place with all those chances in the red zone. i lost all faith in this team and coaching staff for the rest of all time during this game.

I am not reading back through this thread, but I was at the game on Saturday and these are my thoughts:1. Special teams continues to suck clown ass. Let's recap the mistakes. Blocked FG, 4 yard punt, huge return setting up TD, muffed punt that should have been a turnover if not for the officials.2. We suck ass in the red zone. Five trips, 1 TD.3. Our offensive line got it's ass kicked.4. Bullshit block in the back call on the int TD return was huge in retrospect.5. Costly turnovers. Our turnovers always result in either the other team scoring a TD or us not getting a TD it seems.6. Clemson fans are whiny bitches who cried continuously about the officiating. Death Valley was cool, but their crowd was meh. Give me a State crowd any day.7. I understand why TOB did not want to go for it on 4th and 1. Wished he had, but you cannot predict a fucking 4 yard punt. 8. This damn abortion of a game forced me to root for UNC which erased some of my soul.[Edited on November 8, 2010 at 8:42 AM. ^ Except when evaluating Chipper Jones's defensive abilities.^^ Forgot to add that part where the ST completed fucked up and allowed one of the punts to go into the end zone even though like 5 guys were on the ball.

I thought we should have gone for it

i just know that i was shocked when the FG unit was sent on vs. FSU, then relieved when they called the timeoutand i know that i was shocked when the punt unit came on for the clemson play

this thread and it's comments made me notice some stuff about Paul Johnson and Tom Obriena similarity to start... both of them and their gameplans are typically 100% predictable and you already know exactly what you are gonna get weeks in advance of playing them both.but the big difference i see... one is completely berserk psycho when it comes to going for it on 4th down and has 10000% complete confidence that his offense can get those 2 yards for the 1st down. while obrien is just the complete opposite and is mega conservative and will use logic like "well our D will stop them and we'll try again next time" instead of even having a 0.1% risk on a 4th and 8 inches.

Going for it on 4th is an important part of PJ's offense. It's not exactly crazy that an all rushing attack that relies on misdirection goes for it on 4th a lot. Also, TOB's obviously conservative but it's not like we never go for it on 4th. We're tied for 58th in the NCAA on 4th down attempts which puts us pretty much exactly at average.

^ that is one stat we don't necessarily want to excel in. A lot of you people spend way too much time watching the Meyers, Spurriers, and Kelly's of the football world. Those guys make going for it on 4th look like a great idea, but they also have ridiculously stacked teams to help them do it.

that 4th down decision to punt had 0.000001% effect on us losing the game. If the Offense can't move the ball it is all moot.
