9/4/2010 9:52:52 PM
"Everybody else is doing it" is fineunless you want to be perceived as a Public IvyThe REAL Ivy League doesn't even have fucking athletic scholarshipsI wonder how many academically qualified high school graduates who wanted nothing more than to go to UNC and get a great education were over-looked and denied at UNC so that unappreciative thugs and hustlers like Marvin Austin could come completely fuck up their national image and perceptionwhat a fucking joke of a school, fanbase, and football programI'll respect but hate their bball programUntil the investigation tarnishes that too!]

the NCAA is playing the Gordon Gekko role, and trying to melt UNC's ass[Edited on September 4, 2010 at 10:01 PM. Reason : or i guess its his son-in-law, but whatever]

compose yourselves people, we rolled and UNC is getting stomped...it's a day for celebration not infighting.
9/4/2010 10:10:10 PM
oh man, reading pages 17 to 22 is fucking hilarious. the implosion was beautiful. oh baby, it's been wonderful. oh, and apparently the only penalty those holes know is block in the back, and apparently every play has one.
9/4/2010 10:14:55 PM
^^^ what does that even mean? unc isn't the ncaa, they don't have a hard requirement. if they think you should get in then you get in. if they don't then you don't. marvin austin has nothing to do w/ it.[Edited on September 4, 2010 at 10:16 PM. Reason : ^]
9/4/2010 10:15:49 PM
look, my comment was obviously a shot at UNC's cheating, but at the same time, a school isn't going to allow more admissions than the professors and TAs can handle, so there is some kind of cap, and i'm sure there are a few students who were denied college admission for the favor of a great athlete who could generate more revenue for the school than someone simply going to college for a degree and further job opportunities, even though thats a byproduct of college athletics in general, and happens at every school that gives athletic scholarships outI'm just trying to rag on UNC since they brought it on themselves, while you seem to be backhandedly defending them for some odd reason]
9/4/2010 10:17:49 PM
i'm not defending anyone, i'm just letting you know that the point that you're trying to make is irrelevant.
9/4/2010 10:19:17 PM
as long as unc has a "holier than thou" mentality with regards to their academics and ethics, its most certainly relevant
9/4/2010 10:20:08 PM
nope, it still isn't.it's not as if their admissions office sits there and says "well shit, this person fully qualified, since that's how we evaluate our applicants, but we're just balls to the wall full of accepted students right now after letting in those football players".
9/4/2010 10:23:36 PM
BDS
9/4/2010 10:27:45 PM
Any school that gives scholarships to people based on athletics is going to inherently deny admission to some qualified applicants strictly based on numbers...thats not UNC specific, thats a byproduct of the current system of NCAA athletics scholarshipsUNC isn't unique in that regard by any means, take it as a knock on the systemBut don't act like the student-athlete label of idiots who can play ball doesn't take away some number of academic opportunities for bright minds who just miss the cut just because they can't offer freakish athletic skills to their school's athletic programsSo its relevant, since MA doesn't give a shit about school, just money and the NFL (can't necessarily blame him)...so a dumbass like Fat Tits is indeed taking away educational opportunities from people who want to go to college with the purpose of getting an education]
9/4/2010 10:27:54 PM
9/4/2010 10:31:05 PM
i appreciate how much thought you're putting into these posts, but marvin austin didn't keep anyone out of unc. if anything the money that athletics brings in allows more kids to attend the university.
9/4/2010 10:31:58 PM
^^yeah i forgot to point out the Herbstreit misspelling^last i checked the money from athletics isn't going to hiring a buttload more professorsits not like UNC's undergrad capacity has skyrocketed based on the money their bball team made from their 2 titles in the last 5 yearsagain, my comment was a biased knock on MA based on the current NCAA scholarship system, but i don't know why you don't understand my point[Edited on September 4, 2010 at 10:34 PM. 9/4/2010 10:32:11 PM
Mista Twista seems to be completely ignoring this:
9/4/2010 10:33:37 PM
this game is 10 points closer than it should be.
9/4/2010 10:34:55 PM
cops officially don't have a "quota" but thats bullshit toomy point is, if 100,000 high school seniors with 4.0 GPAs, 1300+ SAT scores and a shitload of extra curricular activities apply to UNC, there is in fact a cap on how many students any school will admit in a given semester, and its largely based on how many classes, professors, TAs, timeslots, etc they have[Edited on September 4, 2010 at 10:38 PM. Reason : although i guess UNC "student" athletes dont go to class anyway]
9/4/2010 10:35:38 PM
9/4/2010 10:38:27 PM
You got anything to back that up or is that just how it works at the school you made up in your head
9/4/2010 10:38:41 PM
and if marvin austin cared about school he'd be an outstanding young man.maybe one day unc will get 100,000 applicants who have been fully cleared to attend undergrad at unc, but that's just not the case.and it's not as if unc's basketball team just recently came into its own. it's been around for a while, and so have the benefits that come with it.[Edited on September 4, 2010 at 10:41 PM. 9/4/2010 10:40:12 PM
extremely generous call. that was a fumble.
9/4/2010 10:40:49 PM
all i got to say is "drop down and get ya eagle on!"
9/4/2010 10:41:13 PM
so you (Ernie, simonn) don't think athletic scholarships take away from a certain number of educationally qualified college applicants who lack NCAA athletic ability at most schools every semester?seems like a pretty ignorant/naive way of looking at universities across the country[Edited on September 4, 2010 at 10:42 PM. Reason : .]
9/4/2010 10:41:18 PM
no

9/4/2010 10:42:32 PM
HAHAHAHi am laughing so hardand to answer your question, no, b/c they don't have a cap on admissions. they accept who they want.[Edited on September 4, 2010 at 10:45 PM. Reason : .]

College athletics are clean you see...all of these players are STUDENT athletes...they all add a lot to the academic INTEGRITY of our school...they aren't put on a pedestal at an early age, they EARN their college admission with educational strategery
9/4/2010 10:45:32 PM
man you guys are fagging up this wonderful threadMore UNC bashing, Less bitching
