^^lol?the hype would have died down by then anyway...and not because of blackberries. A blackberry is only good for the professional business environment. They're shit compared to the iphones interface.[Edited on August 1, 2008 at 6:01 PM. Reason : .][Edited on August 1, 2008 at 6:02 PM. Reason : ^^]

Just got mine.. Damn it's nice to get rid of that blackberry. The interface and web browser destroy a bb
8/1/2008 6:07:18 PM
I've had mine for a day and it's possibly the coolest thing ever. (posted from my iPhone)

I think my favorite app so far is the Pandora app. I never really used Pandora that much on the PC, but being able to stream the music anywhere is freaking awesome. I'm finding a ton of new bands that I like too. It streams whether you are on Wi-fi, 3g or EDGE, I'm impressed.
8/3/2008 10:53:19 AM
ha i was using my 3g in a movie theater (reading TWW of course) waiting for a movie to start. these guys to my left started talking about how much they hated the iphone and wanted one of the other phones that "had everything the iphone has and more for cheaper"i lol'd
8/3/2008 11:34:20 AM
yeah i've had a few ppl ask me why i got one and acted like i was an idiot.. after 5 mins of playing with it they usually shut up
8/3/2008 12:23:54 PM
hell, I don't care what other people think of it...this is the best little mobile computing device I've ever usedThe only "complaint" I have is with battery life (and it still lasts much, much longer than my PDA did, while doing more)--I would definitely upgrade to a longer-lasting battery if they ever offer that option.
8/3/2008 1:57:34 PM
agreed... i dont have that great of service at my house (from any carrier--it's in the middle of f'in no where) so the battery life is awful while it's searching for signal.. away from home though it isn't unbearably bad
8/3/2008 2:06:38 PM
^I have the opposite problem--I get full signal in my apartment, but at work it drops to 0/1 bars (understandable, in the middle of a hospital). It lasted through my 27-hour shift on Friday/Saturday, but I keep 3G and wifi turned off unless I'm using them at the moment.
8/3/2008 2:25:58 PM
I would recommend connecting to a wireless network if u can. Anandtech's review of the iPhone shows dramatically better battery life while on wifi.
8/3/2008 2:59:09 PM
you would think AT&T would have made an iPhone App to check your account info etc...
8/3/2008 8:31:32 PM
my blackberry has been fucking up something awful lately(send button doesn't work). I just renewed my plan last october, do you think at&t would make an exception and let me re-up sooner since I'm having faulty equipment issues?
8/4/2008 8:44:38 AM
How many of you have gotten a lot of 'Call Failed' messages? I have gotten quite a few. About to bring mine back in.
8/4/2008 9:46:26 AM
^^ Luck of the draw w/ CSRs, probly.^ Not a single call prob in the few days I've had mine.
8/4/2008 10:52:28 AM
i've only had to major problems.1st: GPS. If i use GPS once it works great...but if i quit the application and then come back to GPS it will never find my location unless I reboot the phone.2nd: the txt messaging sound and the sound the phone makes when you lock it sometimes play and sometimes they dont. Its quite random.
8/4/2008 12:21:54 PM
i've had the same issue on the text msg sounds on both the old one and the new one..
8/4/2008 12:49:44 PM
8/4/2008 1:20:25 PM
that does indeed sound like a nice app/feature to have..
8/4/2008 1:23:28 PM
1) ^^what app allows you to do that?? i want that shit...2) anyone had any problems setting up bluetooth on there phone? I have two different headsets that I have tried to connect (you can flame all you want about using those, but I love them on road trips and hour+ long conversations), and I can't get either one to be recognized[Edited on August 4, 2008 at 1:36 PM. I bought my roommates old 2G 2.0 Iphone on Friday for $100. Installed winpwn, unlocked and jailbroke it. Now it's running on T-mobile, and using the t-zones hack I'm getting 1000 minutes plus unlimited data for $40 per month. So far so good.
8/4/2008 3:41:40 PM
lol damn your roommate was crazy to sell it to you that cheap..[Edited on August 4, 2008 at 3:52 PM. Reason : but good job..awesome deal for you]
8/4/2008 3:52:09 PM
I'm noticing something new with the 3g vs the old one.this one seems to freeze more...like i'll be trying to type something in or scroll a webpage and it sometimes freezes for 20 seconds or so before it starts respond to my inputs
8/4/2008 5:20:12 PM
the response time on mine when searching contacts is absolutely horrendous.. like 5+ seconds per character
8/4/2008 5:38:40 PM
^^ Probly the 2.0 firmware more so than the new gen vs. old gen. Lag is a known issue w/ firmware 2.0
8/4/2008 7:11:39 PM
2.0.1 firmware is out now.It just lists the updates as "Bug Fixes". Hopefully they got them all.]
8/4/2008 8:36:55 PM
w00t...thanks for the heads up. downloading now.
8/4/2008 9:27:49 PM
im getting mine this upcoming weekend in raleigh!! super excited
8/4/2008 10:45:20 PM
i have like a little piece of dirt or something (sorta looks like a black plastic shaving) under my screen about the width of ~2 pixels. shows up black on bright backgrounds. pain in the ass to notice everytime I'm using mail/safari. You can see it even when the screen is off.I'd take it back but I bet I'd get a unit with more dead pixels/worse defect.
8/4/2008 11:37:43 PM
Does anyone else's iPhone take forever to sync since the update? My best guess is that it's taking that extra time to sync up apps and app preferences but it takes 45 minutes to an hour for my phone to sync now compared to about 2-3 minutes before the update.
8/5/2008 2:20:40 AM
man, I so want to get a 1g now and jailbreak it.
8/5/2008 2:26:33 AM
I was wondering if you knowledgeable wolfwebbers might give me some info on jaolbrealing an iphone3g. Not so much how, but the risks, consequences and your experience with it. I was considering it to get some free 3rd party apps but I know nothing about it
8/5/2008 7:14:43 AM
For all of you golfers out there with the new iPhone ...Noen and I are launching a gps golf application this week. Gonna be the shit
8/5/2008 8:34:47 AM
How much? Sounds pretty cooland the update seems to have fixed all of my lag issues.. contacts search is fast now as well as when i type replies on here
8/5/2008 8:40:35 AM
$10
8/5/2008 9:41:52 AM

yea i've got that one, looks like courses on cali only though from what i saw. somebody needs to make something where maybe you can mark tee box spots and holes even if no course map is available then give you easy ways to measure current location to pin distances and even what club options you have, blah blah blah
8/5/2008 2:14:32 PM
so no info on jailbreaking? ive done some research, but i want TWW's opinion b/c several of you said you did so
8/5/2008 2:33:47 PM
my co-worker jailbroke his with 2.0.
8/5/2008 2:52:28 PM
I checked out that iYardage, seems to work well and it's free, just needs more courses. The problem I see with a golf course app though is that the GPS is only accurate to within about 25-30 feet and while that's not a problem normally 10 yards is a lot on a golf shot
8/5/2008 2:57:21 PM
i've seen mine much more accurate than 10 yards
8/5/2008 3:03:22 PM
iYardage makes users submit very complicated sets of data in order to get added to their application. Our application already has over 4800 courses that are gps enabled. As far as accuracy goes, I was standing on the 150 yard plaque at Falls Villiage yesterday, and the application was just 1 yard off in accuracy. Id say thats pretty damn good. Also, we may launch a tool I have created to allow users to mark out the gps coordinates easily via google maps themselves, and then we would approve of the updates to make sure they are accurate. Also, you do not have to wait for an application update to get our courses, as they are available as soon as we approve them.Look out for the app and support your fellow wolfwebbers ...vCaddy is the name of the application.

does the iphone have multitasking, ie, if you are checking a webpage, and then decide to play a game on your phone but you don't want to close your webpage, can you leave your webpage and play your game and come back to your webpage just as it was before you left it, and vice versa?[Edited on August 5, 2008 at 6:29 PM. Has anyone tried Netshare? I had the chance to grab it from the App Store before it was yanked... but I'm not very impressed. As long as it's working, the tethering speed isn't all that bad over EDGE, but it seems like that data transfer gets interrupted a lot, calling for a page refresh. I hope I'm just doing something wrong here.
