Too bad he threw a stupid interception late to dash all hopes for a win
10/23/2014 11:44:38 PM
the hopes were dashed when Denver's fumble was overturned
10/23/2014 11:47:15 PM
or when they got the ticky-tack hold on the INTor when any number of bullshit penalties went peyton's way.
10/24/2014 1:02:09 PM
^^How's that Texans over the Colts thing looking for ya so far?
10/24/2014 5:58:00 PM
not too good. three straight losses by 7 point or less really hurt their chances. should be able to even their record at 4-4 this weekend against the Zach Mettenberger led Titans, though
10/24/2014 6:09:42 PM
I agree. I've got their fantasy defense looking good for 15-20 points against a guy making his first QB start and Clowney coming back.Like I said, almost no way that Indy doesn't win that division.
10/24/2014 7:23:34 PM
passing TDs - zero TD this week, remains 20th all timepassing yards - passed Jim Hart and Matt Hasselbeck into 23rd all time
11/2/2014 3:48:19 PM
eesh...they got taken back behind the woodshed by Miami today. That was terrible.
11/2/2014 10:12:19 PM
Cuban chicks man.
11/2/2014 10:16:38 PM
Chargers haven't won in Miami in 33 years now
11/2/2014 10:19:54 PM
Following the last game, anyone want to sell me their NCSU Rivers Jersey?
11/3/2014 6:15:54 PM
Come on O-Line, give his ass some time. Also can the Chargers DBs wake the fuck up please?
11/16/2014 4:57:41 PM
with 1 TD pass, he moved into a 3-way tie for 19th all-time (with YA Tittle and Ben Roethisberger)with 193 yards, he passed Jim Everett into 22nd all-time
11/16/2014 7:08:14 PM
with 1 TD pass, he moved into a 2-way tie for 19th all-time (with Ben Roethisberger)with 291 yards, he remains in 22nd all-timeif he gets 260 next week he'll pass both Carson Palmer and Jim Kelly into 20th all-time
11/23/2014 11:13:11 PM
also leads the chargers in passing this season
11/23/2014 11:40:42 PM
My question on Rivers now is how long can he continue playing (especially with the O-Line he has right now) and will he ever get a shot with Gates at a Super Bowl? One question I asked that never got an answer: Was Rivers ever offered a trade to a team that with him, could have been a Super Bowl league team?I know there are a lot of great QBs who never got rings (and a lot of shitty ones who did), but I think it is going to be a shame if Rivers hangs it up without one.A Few Greats who never got rings:Dan Marino (duh)Donovan McNabb (6 time Pro Bowler + NFC Championship 5 times... 1 Super Bowl Shot)Warren Moon (9 time Pro Bowler and HoF)Dan Fouts (no explanation needed and played for the Chargers)Boomer Esiason (best left handed QB in NFL history probably)So obviously a ring isn't everything and many QBs fall off the wagon once they have it.You also have QBs who had no right to win a Super Bowl like Brad Johnson, his defense scored 21 points..
11/24/2014 12:57:02 AM
11/24/2014 8:18:13 AM
^ Doug Williams and Mark Rypien come to mind. Eli too since his last title.
11/24/2014 10:39:09 AM
I said PROBABLY!!
11/24/2014 2:38:20 PM
^^Doug and Mark were both journeymen type of QB's that found their way into the right system at the right time. Compare them to Brad Johnson and Dilfer. Eli has never been great, just has had two great playoff runs and saved by two great catches. None of those guys were ever on any wagon to really fall off of and I wouldn't blame it on winning a Super Bowl.
11/24/2014 2:44:16 PM
Where would you want to see him go? Broncos after Peyton calls it quits? Cowboys? Rams? If he does leave, I really hope it's with a team with a superb offensive line.
11/24/2014 3:40:20 PM
he'd be a good Panther. immediate upgrade over Kamhe wouldn't skip a beat. shit running backs. shit receivers. worse-than-shit offensive line.
11/24/2014 3:42:57 PM
Other than that interception, he looked really good against a stout Rams defense. There were rumors that he had cracked/bruised ribs for the past few games, so maybe he's healed up. He definitely hasn't looked as good the last four or five games as he did the first four or five where he looked like an MVP candidate.Hopefully he's good to go for the rest of the season because they've got a rough slate of games ahead of them.
11/24/2014 3:52:39 PM
For fucks sake, penalties are killing the Chargers.
11/30/2014 3:21:34 PM
My God, Rivers is 28 for 37 passing and is over 330 yards. If his defense can make a stand, they have a legit shot to come back and win this.
11/30/2014 4:00:47 PM
i love Phil so much
11/30/2014 4:20:01 PM
That was an insane comeback by the Chargers and look at these stats for Rivers:Passing: P. Rivers (SD) - 34-45 383 YDS, 3 TD, 1 INT[Edited on November 30, 2014 at 4:37 PM. Reason : _]

with 3 TD passes, he passed Ben Roethlisberger and John Hadl into 18th all-timewith 383 yards, he passed Carson Palmer and Jim Kelly into 20th all-timewith 34 completions, he passed Troy Aikman into 21st all-timewith a passer rating of 113.5, he passed Tony Romo into 4th all-time[Edited on November 30, 2014 at 4:38 PM. it was still wrong, lol. That is the most passing yardage he has had all year, the next closest was 377 against Jacksonville. http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/gamelog/_/id/5529/philip-rivers2,835 total yards in the Regular Season. Which QB has the highest?[Edited on November 30, 2014 at 4:44 PM. Reason : _]
11/30/2014 4:37:10 PM
Huge win for the Chargers in more than one way. Baltimore was one team that they are battling for a wild card spot.
11/30/2014 4:53:36 PM
11/30/2014 5:00:50 PM
Rivers was on track to have the most passing yardage by far before that damn Kansas City game.He had over 1500 yards total for 5 consecutive played games.
11/30/2014 5:04:58 PM
what??
11/30/2014 5:07:38 PM
Games 2-6 totaled 1518 yards
11/30/2014 5:15:16 PM
so he didn't have 1500 yards for 5 consecutive games then
11/30/2014 5:19:30 PM
11/30/2014 5:20:44 PM
Rivers with only (3) games left in his San Diego career...hopefully.
12/7/2014 11:29:10 PM
with 1 TD pass, he tied Boomer Esiason and remains 18th all-time (because Roethlisberger threw 3 TDs)with 189 yards, he remains 20th all-time (needs 1,500 yards to pass McNabb)with 20 completions, he remains 21st all-time (will move past Esiason next week)with 33 attempts, he passed Joe Ferguson and Steve McNair into 30th all-timeand Happy 33rd birthday tomorrow[Edited on December 7, 2014 at 11:48 PM.
