he just wants those boats and hoes for the weekend, but will ultimately choose to stay in NC.

What kid wouldn't love to live the college lifestyle as soon as possible and to play as a starter next season as a scorer/shooter. I'd be ALL over that playing here if I was him

I find it odd how easy it is anymore for these players to "graduate early". When I was a high school junior, I certainly couldn't have just decided to jump ahead and be a senior. Obviously things have changed, but it seems strange. /old man rant
6/3/2015 11:21:15 AM
you probably could and you just didn't know it. I know I took atleast 4 "extra" classes. 3 of them being weightlifting cause I was on the football team. I easily could have graduated a semester early without trying very hard.
6/3/2015 11:24:54 AM
We had to take 4 years of English.. I don't know how you fit that in 3 years. But I think schedules are different now so classes are only a semester. I'm old.
6/3/2015 11:39:44 AM
A lot of these guys are staying behind a year and reclassifying to a lower grade.
6/3/2015 11:41:01 AM
6/3/2015 11:49:50 AM
Yeah, I mean I has taken every science class my HS had to offer by my sophomore year. (Biology, chemistry, physics, and this joke of an earth science class. Well I didn't take what most freshmen took - physical science, because it was basically middle school science revisited). In my limited experience with high schools, they just want to stick everyone in the same classes and give you a hard time if you want to take classes out of the order they expect you to take them. They would rather you take like bible history, shop and fucking newspaper/yearbook than actually learn stuff.Basically, if the students/parents push hard enough, it isn't hard to have the core credits to graduate before 4 years are up, even without summer school/community college classes.
6/3/2015 12:14:24 PM
I think these kids that reclassify are on block schedules where they take 4 classes a semester instead of 7 all year classes. Therefor he probably took his 4th English in the Fall semester.or summer school like previously mentioned (seems unlikely though with AAU)

We definitely need some more guards so this could be good news.
6/3/2015 6:36:00 PM
Rowan or Dorn, doesn't matter to me. Rowan is supposed to be the better shooter but Dorn's scoring and efficiency can't be ignored. 12 ppg, 50% shooting as a freshman is no joke. I'm guessing that he will be a ~15 ppg scorer as an upperclassman. Moving forward, our team for '16/'17 is shaping up nicely. Wings galore (Henderson, Caleb, Cody, Kirk, likely Dorn or Rowan) plus 2 or 3 bigs with lots of experience (Anya, Abu, Freeman). We just need a point guard to bring it all together if Cat leaves, and it sounds like Dennis Smith Jr could be that guy.
6/5/2015 9:27:09 AM
Difference between Rowan and Dorn, is that only one of them would be available to play next year(if Rowan indeed reclassifies).Having either would be great for practice, but not sure I trust the idea of Henderson playing back-up PG when he hasn't played PG since high school.
6/5/2015 10:08:09 AM
^^do you really think Abu will stick around for 16/17?
6/5/2015 10:32:53 AM
I certainly don't expect to have all 3 of them around by then, but I'm sure we'll have 1 or 2 more bigs waiting in the wings at that point.

6/5/2015 11:46:03 AM
Either way I like our outlook with the front court moving forward. We have Freeman, Abu & Anya in '15-'16 (hopefully Anya will be thinner & have some sort of offensive post move) and then either have the same group in '16-'17, or one of Abu/Anya goes pro (with an incredible season) and we are in a good spot to land Adebayo.

any word on the Greek guy?

He's visiting in July. So you won't hear anything for a while.

This kid has the opportunity in front of him to dress like Dorn from Major League each and every game next season when he's on the bench. I hope he makes the most of it.
6/8/2015 2:05:52 PM
It's right there in his contract he doesn't have to do any calisthenics he doesn't feel are necessary.
6/8/2015 2:10:40 PM
Gottfried rumored to be transitioning his base defense from man to man to "olé bullshit"
6/8/2015 2:27:41 PM
Year after this he goes free agent, and him and his agent have plans for life after basketball.
6/8/2015 2:47:40 PM
Kid reminds me of a taller Dez Lee...maybe even a bit like Purvis because we all know now how overrated he was...but it matches up with this guyanyone?
6/8/2015 2:59:13 PM
Agreed about his skillset being like Lee and Purvis. He gets most of his points around the basket but he can shoot some from outside when given space (unlike Lee). Good athlete with a decent handle who scored very efficiently against C-USA opponents. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how that translates vs ACC defenses. He'll probably be an energy guy off the bench his first year or 2 if he can crack the rotation. Lots of wings on this team...[Edited on June 8, 2015 at 4:24 PM. Reason : 2]

Welcome to the team Dorn! Glad to see another guard on the roster, wish he didn't have to sit out a year.
6/8/2015 9:43:05 PM
Just watched the highlights, but from the little I can see, it looks like this guy has much better touch on his shots and floaters than Purvis. He's got a really smooth release, which usually translates to good shooting. Love the athleticism and put-backs around the rim too. If there's one thing we struggled with last year, it was getting easy baskets. Think back to how many tip-ins we got with TJ. Need more of that
6/9/2015 2:36:07 PM
6/19/2015 1:45:02 PM
yeah this one is going to hurt
6/19/2015 3:38:29 PM
we'd be so fucking stacked if we got both of them...looks like Gott and company have been doling out a lot of offers this week
6/19/2015 3:48:07 PM
Hope all these offers don't mean more transfers coming. Just me thinking the worst.
6/19/2015 11:28:04 PM
^we do have plenty of scholarships to play with. the staff is probably assuming cat will go pro after this season too. i'd think if the staff was anticipating a transfer, that transfer would've already left instead of playing another full season before transferring. and i'd imagine that any staff is always prepared (or as much as they can be) for any unforeseen attrition.
6/20/2015 6:57:01 AM
Personally I hope everyone transfers and we sign all those guys.
6/20/2015 7:51:46 AM
I think the 2017 offer period for juniors was this past week, right? If so, it's not a surprise to see a big group of 2017 offers pop up now
6/20/2015 8:30:24 AM
Of course more transfers are coming, has there been a year with Gott at the helm where there wasn't a transfer? However, I don't think this is a Gott specific problem though. This just seems to be the status quo in college basketball in this era. There is a de facto free agent system where players are looking for more playing time as opposed to more money. No school loyalty like when Damon Thornton and Justin Gainey were ballin in the halls O'Reynolds.
6/20/2015 8:53:29 AM
^to your point, we've had a transfer out every single season under Gott. We've also had a transfer in every single year under Gott (Alex Johnson, Ralston Turner, Trevor Lacey, Dez Lee, Terry Henderson, and that guy that just transferred in a few weeks ago)
