I mean we had the cult of social justice rioting in Charlotte last year, and the guy wasn't even unarmed. So that isn't even a factor anymore.

It's a shame that a common sense cause like "preventing police brutality" was hijacked and politicized by Marxist crazies like BLM and immediately devolved into a race-baiting, media-sensationalized, riot-inducing, divisive shit show. But hey, that's the regressive left for you, they always need to divide people and tell them they are victims.

They say he had a stolen revolver, and he shot it...but not necessarily at them strangely

During a press conference Monday, Godwin said, “Our officer heard that revolver being fired and saw the muzzle flash.” Officer A.J. Lopez, 29, returned fire, hitting Johnson, Godwin said."

weird how a guy goes from working at lowes foods to selling pre rolled blunts to robbing houses while people are home and shooting at cops

I wonder if its several major leaps or the cumulative result of a bunch of small decisions over time

anyway I guess I'll take that discussion to the Cop Shoots an Armed Person thread

Another so-called "study" that is really authored by a bunch of virtue-signaling, SJW hacks who want to appeal to Marxist leftists and wanna be victims by demonising one of the most important American institutions.

^^^ Lol at your agenda-driven pseudo-science Marxism.

"Can I see your drivers license again, its showing suspended. Is that you?" = Disrespectful

OH THE OPPRESSION

They go over factors they control for in good detail, UNTIL they get to the only one that matters, severity of infraction... they just write that one off and don't give any real numbers behind it, likely because if they used the same methodology as they did on the other factors the entire study would be debunked.

It's pretty obvious what its "sources" of news are based on the talking points, narratives and strawmen it constantly parrots. Its "sources" are faker than most of the sites he constantly criticizes. It's a hypocrite.

How about for every 100 leftist/marxist sites you read, try reading 1 conservative site on the same issue so you aren't so ill-equipped defending false narratives against reality.

"One might consider the hypothesis that officers were less respectful when pulling over community members for more severe offenses. We tested this by running another model on a subset of 869 interactions for which we obtained ratings of offense severity on a four-point Likert scale from Oakland Police Department officers, including these ratings as a covariate in addition to those mentioned above. We found that the offense severity was not predictive of officer respect levels, and did not substantially change the results described above.

To consider whether this disparity persists in the most “everyday” interactions, we also reran our analyses on the subset of interactions that did not involve arrests or searches (N?=?781), and found the results from our earlier models were fundamentally unchanged. Full regression tables for all models described above are given in SI Appendix, Study 3."

The numbers you said weren't there: http://www.pnas.org/content/suppl/2017/05/30/1702413114.DCSupplemental/pnas.1702413114.sapp.pdf

It looks like severity of offense was the least predictive factor they examined.

And if you actually read what I said, you would see how when dismissing other factors, they use the least amount of actual proof for the most important one. See how every other control factor has the correlation listed? They provide a methodology but no actual numbers for how predictive it was or wasn't.

Look at the other factors like "length of stop"... seems to correlate very well with the perceived "disrespectful" words used like... *gasp* "Just". Imagine that... the person pulled doesn't have license and registration and the stop takes longer and the cop is impatient... but no, we are all Marxist-academics so its all about race and oppression. But what do you expect when you have a "study" trying to show racism based on subjective arbitrary values assigned to words with half-assed controls in place for other factors... pseudo science.

That doesn't capture "severity" at all.

They use a subset of 869 stops categorized as "equipment" or "moving violation"

If they are going to be so meticulous on arbitrary syntax like saying "just" to show disrespect, you would think they would have the common sense to actually show equal attention to such an important factor.

That's why I referenced the length of the stop, despite their best intentions, they accidentally captured a more relevant factor that obviously has a high correlation with the perceived "respect" used by the officer. Driver taking forever to cooperate, or produce license, or has a ton of violations and background to go through... maybe the police officer gets impatient and says "just sit tight for a bit". GASP the oppression.

It gets its new from right-wing sources like Hannity and Breibart, it's pretty obvious. And we all know their agenda surely isn't to divide america. You can tell they just want everyone to know the real truth and bring all americans together.

I don't get my news from Hannity or Breitbart, but I think its funny that you disparage those tabloids while constantly spamming the left-wing equivalents, and expect anyone outside of the echo-chamber to care.

When you post some Marxist think tank's propaganda implying cops are racist based on irrelevant interchangeable sentences from select body cam recordings... you might as well be a right wing nut job posting a link to Alex Jones talking about chemtrails making frogs gay. Stupid is stupid.

^looks like they released the cops dash cam video (or had they already done that?, I just saw it).

SMH. Castille clearly tells the cop he has a gun. Fucking how does it go so wrong?

I consider myself desensitized as fuck to most of these, but man, that video was pretty bad. 100x worse that a 4 year old climbs out of the backseat after the cop puts a handful of rounds into the driver's side window.

^ Further solidifies the fact that the NRA's message is driven by political favor, not any ideological policy about defending the 2nd amendment.

he tells the cop he has a gun and then flashes it at him after being told not to reach for it. The cop should have probably given clearer instruction than just telling him not to reach for it, but the couple of times I was pulled over with a CCW, the officers said the exact same thing to me - "don't reach for it and you'll be fine". I also always let the discussion with "I have a CCW permit and a gun in the vehicle", not "I have a firearm on me" as Castille did. Castille being high at the time probably didn't help his decision making any; that 2-3 second delay in processing what the cop was saying was about how long it took for the cop to go from routine stop to full-on panicked.

For those in here knocking the NRA for not defending a concealed carry holder, one of the requirements of concealed carrying is not being intoxicated via alcohol or other drugs. Castille's toxicology report showed that he shouldn't have been concealed carrying at the time.

It's sad to watch the video and realize that Castille was probably trying to be helpful to the cop, but due to extremely poor choices in phrasing and body languageended up getting shot. If the cop had been truthful in that he was pulling Castille over because he thought he matched a description for an armed robbery suspect and not for some trumped up improper equipment excuse, Castille might have realized the situation was more tense than he was giving it credit for.

why don't you identify individual parts of what I said that you disagree with instead of just crying over it. A jury found the cop innocent, so I'd say that at least 12 people agreed with what I said.

Castile was fatally shot July 6 by St. Anthony police Officer Jeronimo Yanez after he told Yanez he had a gun. Yanez is on trial for manslaughter.

St. Paul paramedic Eric Torgerson testified that he saw an officer reach deep into Castile's pocket to pull out the gun. He didn't see it sliding out of the pocket."

No one knew where the gun was and they didn't even find it until they flipped him over and started CPR. There's no way he "flashes" the gun. That's not even how the cop testified.
