this is all house money. even next year. 2016 when we have an experienced team of jrs and seniors that FIT the system, mcclendon will lead us to the promised land.
10/18/2014 10:59:01 PM
still plenty of time before 35 losses.
10/18/2014 11:04:50 PM
He has State's longest ACC losing streak ever
10/18/2014 11:09:16 PM
tbh, looking at things...2021 is gonna be our year.
10/18/2014 11:09:19 PM
If I see us try to run the wildcat again inside the 5 yard line I think I am going to throw my remote through the TV.

we will get an acc win this year. we will get multiple acc wins next year and in 2016 we'll have a winning record in acc play.[Edited on October 19, 2014 at 3:01 AM. Reason : baby steps]

Lolololol. You're like last fan left

I want to believe in Doeren. He just makes it really hard. I'd flip over to his side pretty quickly if he started winning games and stopped blowing timeouts in the stupidest ways possible.
10/19/2014 10:31:36 AM
i stand behind the notion of giving him at least 3 years
10/19/2014 11:39:39 AM
Precedent is at least 3 years, but we've only encountered that once (Tom Reed, who won 4 total ACC games in 3 years, 1 each for his first 2). Monte Kiffin was here 3 years, but was near-.500 and made the smart decision to go to the NFL, where he was better-suited. I know everyone wants to say anything about Chuck Amato is moot unless you say it was all Philip Rivers, so the fact that he took his first 4 teams to bowls doesn't matter. But in his 2nd Rivers-free year, he went to one. Mike O'Cain went in his first 2 years, but even after the system was cleared of Sheridan's players, he still managed 6-5, 7-5, and 6-6 teams before getting fired.Sheridan took Tom Reed's players to the Peach Bowl and 8 wins in year one.Doeren's record is unprecedented, unless you want to try to argue that what he left was Ted Roof at Duke levels of bad.

I wonder how many quarters we've won in our conference games. 1st quarter against FSU is the only one that comes to mind without doing any research at all.

but guys, two time outs, its on him

Coulda, shoulda tied Louisville in 1st Q yesterday but damn Sade missed the XP
10/19/2014 3:34:15 PM
You have to take his exotic systems into consideration. Youbcant run this stuff with pro style players. We are going to be a good gimmick team that wins games off our system but right now we have lowe level pro style talent running crazy gimmick systems. Other coaches just ran what v was vest to fit the players we had. Its going to take longer to see dividends this way.
10/19/2014 5:03:11 PM
I'll check back in with the system when it gives us actual fucking results in ACC play. Beating cupcakes while being the laughing stock of the ACC is getting old.
10/19/2014 6:41:51 PM
I remember before doeren when we didnt even always beat cupcakes.
10/19/2014 7:17:08 PM
10/19/2014 8:26:38 PM
Akron? We bareeely beat Richmond last year.

Georgia Southern has partial qualifiers

10/19/2014 9:29:30 PM
Grobe at least took advantage of a down FSU and won something
10/19/2014 9:49:40 PM
Getting the right players doesn't make any difference if he's constantly making the world's worst decisions.
10/19/2014 11:44:39 PM
10/20/2014 7:50:42 AM
Gotta give him at least 3 years. I'm not saying he's destined for success, but the downside is too great for letting a coach go after 2 years. We'd lose recruits and have plenty of transfers. Most importantly, what decent coach is going to want to go to a losing program that fires a new coach after only 2 seasons?
10/20/2014 8:48:40 AM
Probably the same coaches that would come to a school that fires a bowl-bound coach.
10/20/2014 9:06:35 AM
We've already flushed one, pretty much two, seasons down the toilet so might as well invest one or two more seasons with the hope that this guy can succeed with his system fully established and a good balance of under and upperclassmen. But with how awful the in game coaching has been, I question whether his ceiling will really be any better than TOB's. I guess the hope is he is young, so his coaching should improve and he should recruit better than TOB. I don't know, I'm reaching for something positive to latch onto here
10/20/2014 9:08:31 AM
part of me thinks that we're losing more credibility by keeping him, than we would be by firing him after two yearswe would have no problem finding a coach
10/20/2014 9:37:29 AM
Guys, he didn't even have his starters on defense. This game was never going to be close.
10/20/2014 9:41:37 AM
Yeah but some of his starters are worse than the back ups which was just more proof that he doesn't have a fucking clue
10/20/2014 9:46:56 AM
How dare you suggest Dirty D doesn't know a baller when he sees one.
10/20/2014 10:55:25 AM
10/20/2014 10:57:14 AM
They don't want good coaches, spydyr. They want someone to come in and be juuuuust good enough to get them to bowl games so they can feel like they aren't horrible. They're happy living in mediocrity versus dealing with some adversity with the chance of coming out better on the other side.[Edited on October 20, 2014 at 11:31 AM. Reason : ]
10/20/2014 11:31:30 AM
That's a perfect example showing that some people will ALWAYS tolerate awfulness as long as you offer them empty hope in the future, current situation be damned.

10/20/2014 12:30:38 PM
if he goes winless in the conference again, there is a 100% chance he gets fired
10/20/2014 12:35:55 PM
how do you figure 100%?
10/20/2014 12:37:37 PM
because it'd be ridiculous to keep a guy who is responsible for one of the worst conference losing streaks in the history of the conference?it's not like he's coaching in the SEC
10/20/2014 12:40:17 PM
It's not about whether it's ridiculous or not to keep him, I'm wondering if you have some insight to claim that it's 100% certain that Debbie Yow will fire him.
10/20/2014 12:43:51 PM
I don't think he'd get fired....But I actually think that firing a coach for going winless in two consecutive seasons is more reasonable than firing a coach who took you to three consecutive bowl games. With that being said, I think he gets another year. But if he can't get an ACC win this year, he should be coaching for his job next season. But this is Yow's hire, so who knows if she'd do that or not.[Edited on October 20, 2014 at 12:46 PM.
