now back to our regularly scheduled IC... this is on Todd Harrellson being kicked off the team"I agree and I will certainly yeild to LF's knowledge and appraisal of individual kids and specific situations. I just hope we aren't becoming demanding to the point where there is no tolerance for mistake."
7/23/2012 4:32:46 PM
What's the big deal about that quote? Sounds reasonable.
7/23/2012 4:48:11 PM
^ Surely you jest (and if you do, good one). I don't think anyone outside of the most delusional Tard Heel fans believe there's any danger of them holding their athletes up to unreasonable standards of academic/behavioral decorum.
7/23/2012 5:34:52 PM
haha, hey now rules
7/23/2012 5:47:40 PM
^^ yea that level of delusion is precious. only one person over there figured out that the 3 recent dismissals was to get them under the 80 person scholarship limit
7/24/2012 9:02:13 AM
They also yanked schollies from walk ons. didn't even tell the players, sent fucking letters home
7/24/2012 11:51:01 AM
IC is blowing up!!
8/13/2012 12:14:53 PM
like those athletes are good enough at math to make into even the intro courses in a business major.
8/13/2012 12:17:42 PM
Shit isn't a trade school gtfo
8/13/2012 12:21:29 PM
Lol I don't actually think a degree designed specifically to professional athletes is a bad thing, at the end of the day though its all about transparency and a level playing field. If Carolina gets to have it then everyone gets to have it and it can't just be token like this. From day one they've been trying to deflect this to every other school as well but they're going completely bullshit on everything.
8/13/2012 12:40:42 PM
I actually think an option to have a degree like that would be incredibly helpful. Think about the number of pro athletes that go broke because they blow all their money buying dumb stuff and not understanding how to manage their finances. If they had classes like that for these guys and actually forced them to attend, they may learn some life skills that will benefit them in the future. I really think colleges in general end up failing to teach people regular life skills that they may not have picked up anywhere previously.
8/13/2012 12:46:58 PM
8/13/2012 12:49:33 PM
^^Yup, just gotta make sure its a real degree and that not just one school is allowed to have it.
8/13/2012 12:56:38 PM
Even if they have a "real life" degree the players still won't show up to class.
8/13/2012 12:58:07 PM
Yeah, that makes sense: If you cant make it as a pro athlete, youll always have your pro athlete degree to fall back on.
8/13/2012 1:00:06 PM
You guys are fucking stupid if you think the idea of an entire 4-year college degree could be centered on how to be a professional athlete. Schools could offer a couple classes around this topic, but an entire degree? That is fucking insane. Additionally what non-athlete is going to major in this pro athlete degree? It basically creates the same problem that already existed with the bullshit afro department at UNC.
8/13/2012 1:08:58 PM
You guys are fucking stupid if you think the idea of an entire 4-year college degree could be centered on how to be a musician. Schools could offer a couple classes around this topic, but an entire degree? That is fucking insane. Additionally what non-musician is going to major in this music degree?
8/13/2012 1:16:23 PM
Not even close, man.
8/13/2012 1:17:46 PM
8/13/2012 1:32:24 PM
Yeah, I totally agree with ^and ^^I mean, if I play the trumpet and take music courses for 4 years, I will probably prepare myself to be a professional musician in some orchestra or band somewhere, or at least a high school band teacher. If I study how to be a pro athlete for 4 years, that coursework in no way, shape or form makes me a better NBA or NFL prospect. I mean, honestly, how many unc grads become professional athletes each year, 10 at the most?? And of those, maybe 5 actually leave with a 4 year degree?
8/13/2012 1:51:56 PM
I fully admit to just trolling above and I know its a stretch. But truthfully its not like people don't go to school for degrees they don't or can't use all the time. How bout all those History and Philosophy degrees. Also, if they ever allowed something like this I think you would have to restrict the enrollment. If you're in on a music scholly you have to audition. I think you would have to evaluate if an athlete had a chance to make it as a professional before letting him in the program. No walkon getting in etc. That said I realize it would probably just get abused.

there could definitely be a "pro athlete" degree. Problem is, any meaningful degree like that would be too difficult for the people that would be interested in it....Contract law, negotiation/arbitration, labor law, financial planning, investment analysis, sports marketing/promotion etc...There's a big difference between an actual degree like that, and "call it a degree just to get a degree"

i didn't realize unc was running on gibsons!?! someone must have executed a righteous hack. probably running a 28.8 bps modem, which is too much machine for most people.

"And how many Morehead Scholars are there in that Ivy League of a program they run @ State? Ohhhhh that's right...man. This is sad. Once again, HT and the BOT are taking it in the rear."The Morehead-Cain Scholarship is only at UNC... Very surprising we don't have any of them. I wonder how many Park Scholars they have there?
8/13/2012 7:10:43 PM
IC has currently devolved into just calling us scumbags.Love it.

I'm curious what mental gymnastics they have done to convince themselves that Jay Smith had anything to do with this...
8/13/2012 7:54:00 PM
they should ask Peppers if he waived FERPA when he was in schoolif he did, he consented for his transcript to be public record, and there's nothing illegal at allif he didn't, he should sue UNC
8/13/2012 8:07:04 PM
the fuck does he care
8/13/2012 8:07:46 PM
doubt he doesbut it'd be awesome if Peppers sued UNC
8/13/2012 8:17:23 PM
Judging by his grades, I don't think peppers even knows what a transcript is.
8/13/2012 8:35:21 PM

UNC wishes they had some computer engineers to counter NC State's hacking. Instead they'll have to hire a tutor to write a poem for them.[Edited on August 14, 2012 at 3:44 PM. Reason : V apparently not]

I feel like they could get by with their more highly regarded CS program, but that's just me.

3 out of those 5 people look like total douchebags. However, my douchebag detector is not honed in on asian samples, so I can't guarantee a lack of douchebagosity on the other two.
