^Both areas have 4+ inches of snow/ice. Matthews is much higher(closer to 7). Either way, I'm f'd. Im not spending 80 bucks for a hotel room for 7 hours but I don't want to sleep at work.

Theres a rescue somebody on the main chitchat page. Havnt seen them screaming at anyone here yet so I assume no one has saved them.

4 hours from Kildaire Farm road in Cary to Blue Ridge Road in Raleigh. I pissed in a water jug in my car while stuck in traffic
2/12/2014 11:16:05 PM
Coke bottle saved me too. No shame man.
2/12/2014 11:17:56 PM
those maps/radars showing snow from charlotte up through triad are incredibly wrong. Nothing but sleet.
2/12/2014 11:18:07 PM
I just realized I'm going sledding tomorrow. I don't know why I ever stopped. I'm going alone, but I gotta somehow get pics of me sledding for my friend. It's very important to her. So I'ma have to ask some kids to take my picture and hope they don't run off with my phone.

2/12/2014 11:34:58 PM
^I'm on Athens and had the flicker as well, but didn't hear anything. Hoping power doesn't go out... no flashlights.

just took the dog out here in N. Raleigh. That sleet has put a nice crust on all the snow...its just nasty out there right now
2/13/2014 12:01:09 AM
My power flickered for a minute or two and I also heard sirens. Tryon/Lake Wheeler rd represent.

actually the 5ish inches of snow im seeing in charlotte with a half inch of sleet on top...i havent seen any plows at all where i live, and i know they didnt salt.in a truck its actually pretty fair driving. the crusted over snow is far superior to that damn grey slush they usually generate. thats what kills people.
2/13/2014 12:32:47 AM
@y0willy0They brined/salted the roads in Charlotte on Monday and Tuesday.
2/13/2014 12:36:50 AM
brine is superior to the powdered / pellet shit.they didnt get my part of the county, and i havent driven into charlotte since monday.this snow is perfect for driving in if you must (at least where im at).its pretty deep but random honda accords and whatnot appear to be doing fine.
2/13/2014 12:42:02 AM
^^I was gonna say that. Also, it did no good as that shit snow storm that didn't stick to anything but grass we got on tuesday washed it all away.[Edited on February 13, 2014 at 12:42 AM. Reason : ^]
2/13/2014 12:42:43 AM
the one time a plow did go by, at like 6pm, the motherfuckers pushed like the entire neighborhoods snow into my yard.i can appreciate i now have a 20 yard long fort that i didnt have to make, but im sure my yard underneath was destroyed.
2/13/2014 12:50:22 AM
All the 'southerners can't handle snow' comments serve as a reminder that nobody ever praises "northern hospitality."
2/13/2014 12:55:18 AM
wtf happened?
2/13/2014 12:58:29 AM
^^^the sad part is those plows are doing nothing but creating sheets of ice. My truck would eat this shit up unplowed. With it being plowed though, I skid and slide everywhere.
2/13/2014 1:09:55 AM
This is fucking hilarious.
2/13/2014 1:11:18 AM
Someone saw that Fred's beds wasn't gonna make their delivery that day.Chaos ensued.
2/13/2014 1:12:21 AM
That picture is priceless though...-maybe 4 inches of snow-It's a STRAIGHT section of road-a box truck with a humorous company name plowed into the median-cars strewn everywhere like people thought they were playing mariokart-you know, A car ON FIRE
2/13/2014 1:17:21 AM
^the road being "straight" has nothing to do with it. Do you see that giant ass hill? There aren't many cars/trucks that are gonna make it up that hill with 4 inches of compact snow on it. I slid sideways going up hills 1/2 that size on my way to work last night. It is a pain in the ass. A straight flat road or even downhill is nothing. A hill...good luckI'll add one though:-The dude standing on his door handle! lol[Edited on February 13, 2014 at 1:19 AM. Reason : sdfd]

2/13/2014 1:23:55 AM
haha holy shit i didn't notice thatI mean I get that the hill was probably a bitch and traffic was moving slow enough to where momentum wasn't helping, and that it was a pretty sudden accumulation that caught a lot of people off guard, but I totally see why it's hilarious to anyone from anywhere with considerably more annual snowfall. [Edited on February 13, 2014 at 1:26 AM. Reason : that dude has the best seat in the house]
2/13/2014 1:24:35 AM
we should make fun of northerners when they have a "superstorm sandy" lame ass CATEGORY TWO hurricane."pathetic, thats just like a drizzle here mane."but oh yeah, we send convoys of trucks and volunteers to help them (from as far away as texas).kudos you fucking yankee assholes. congrats on winning the civil war tho!
2/13/2014 1:31:55 AM
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10203069033075686This isn't just a couple of inches of snow. This is a worst-case scenario ice mixer. We had a few inches of snow a few weeks ago and everything was fine.

Rain is starting to wash away snow on the road near me,but contributing to glazing on elevated objects. Hope it transitions to sleet or snow.
2/13/2014 4:47:56 AM
the difference between us and Northerners in snow is the following:1. They have snow tires/chains/shit made for this because they get it more often. Most southerners have no use for snow tires/chains/shit made for this.2. They're used to it and have the proper driving skill to handle it from experience. Moth Southerners do not.Dunno why they have to get on their high horse just because they have more experience. Well DUH you're gonna be better at it. You have practice at it like 5 times a year. We have practice in it maybe once every other year...if we're lucky.

we had about 3/8" or more of ice on everything before it started melting late yesterday evening. lost power somewhere around mid-day yesterday and it's still out. lots of large tree limbs down. this is western Pender County.[Edited on February 13, 2014 at 6:34 AM.
