Forget all that, just give me Warren on this team. We finally start playing defense the year after losing the best offensive player we've had in 20+ years.
3/25/2015 2:56:37 PM
So Warren=Rivers
3/25/2015 3:17:44 PM
oh, what could have been
3/25/2015 5:06:45 PM
Can't really look at it like that. If Warren stays, Cat may never have developed this season and Lewis might have stayed since he could have had 10+ assists each night to TJ.Engin Atsur was a solid PG too for us. Those Javi/Farnold years were rough although Javi did have a few awesome games in his career. Farnold was fast, but otherwise really horrible and out of control with the ball.
3/25/2015 5:44:08 PM
If Warren stayed, Lewis would have stayed.Warren was the only reason Gott didn't play Barber all the time last year.
3/25/2015 7:32:30 PM
I dunno about that[Edited on March 25, 2015 at 7:37 PM. Reason : nor does saps]
3/25/2015 7:37:44 PM
Can you imagine if we had Warren, Cat, Leslie, Hickson, David Thompson and Burleson? Oh man!
3/25/2015 7:41:23 PM
You forgot to include Bartoz.
3/25/2015 9:09:30 PM
And Pete Maravich? Dude totally wouldve gotten in today.
3/25/2015 9:41:00 PM
Forget Warren or Tyler Lewis, could you imagine this team with VANDY?!? No one would score on us, ever.
3/26/2015 11:35:41 AM
Who is Vandy?[Edited on March 26, 2015 at 12:42 PM. Reason : TBDV ]

Doesn't sound too promising. I wonder what class he is in, wouldn't think he would want to compete for playing time with the four bigs we already have.
3/28/2015 10:23:12 PM
he's a grad transfer so he'd be able to use his final year of eligibility next season. averaged 10.1/7.3 in 26 minutes this season.apparently he's already met with the coaches at Illinois, Kansas, and Pitt, so it does indeed sound like a long shot.
3/28/2015 10:28:21 PM
fuck it allwe're getting malik newman and between him and lacey we will lead the world in horrible jacked 3s made in opponents faces next season. it will be glorious. we'll still lose 12 games but no fucks will be givenhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFnwCLkkNYw
3/29/2015 12:04:33 AM
^I'm only 55 seconds in and I'm laughing hystericallyopposing fans wouldnt hate him at allhe probably tries just as hard on defense as offenseTWWers would never refer to him as a cancer[Edited on March 29, 2015 at 12:13 AM. Reason : .]
3/29/2015 12:08:13 AM
it would destroy our chemistry and probably whatever is left of gottfried's reputation with the media but who gives a shit
3/29/2015 11:04:36 AM
3/29/2015 11:22:13 AM
did you miss all the media guys dragging him through the mud this week?"blah blah blah gottfried vs pitino we know how this will turn out lolz"even katz who appears to have a good relationship with him was pulling the "you guys have top 1 or 2 seed talent" card when we're starting fucking lennard freemanhe's a much better coach than he's given credit for. still not close to a HOFer but his reputation is johnny jones level
3/29/2015 11:34:58 AM
There was a poll a year or so back where ESPN ranked all the college bball coaches and Gott wasn't even in the top 75 No way is that accurate, but since we're talking about reputation among the media...
3/29/2015 1:23:58 PM
What school is that guy going to? He seems like the perfect Maryland recruit?
3/29/2015 1:49:28 PM
he hasn't committed yetno word yet, but Barnes being out at Texas may mean Eric Davis could open back up. would be a great guy to bring into the fold next year.

We have more talent than Nova, Zags, UVANC State recruits well. Having top 25 classes several years in a row is up thereIf you care about mcd AA, we also should have had at least 3 of them on this roster, which all but a few programs can't match recruiting wise. Also got warren in the same time. Our recruiting is in the upper echelons of college ball if not quite up to the standards of a handful of programs. We either manage to always get the bad apples of top-rated recruits or we are just unusually bad at coaching them and integrating them with our team.[Edited on March 29, 2015 at 3:09 PM. 3/29/2015 3:03:30 PM
No argument from me about that. But it's not 2 seed talent like Katz said. Which Katz said to Gott...making it a weird comment in general.
3/29/2015 3:05:36 PM
^^if you think Purvis and Lewis would have made this a much better team just because of some high school award, you're fucking retarded. but you're retarded anyway.
3/29/2015 3:17:03 PM
Scoot and fells were the biggest wastes of amazing talent. Hopefully Gott has nothing like that during his time here.
3/29/2015 3:19:51 PM
sweet 16 is probably where this team shouldve ended up recruiting wise. our recruiting is really good but to make a F4 you need multiple guys who can turn on god mode like wisconsin did on arizona and you usually need nba guys to do that. our region really opened up, though, but let's move on from that...cat 5* but not a top 10 guylacey 4* fourth year player and can turn on god mode when we need itthose guys are good enough but the rest of the roster isnt there yet. maybe if the bigs were upperclassmen or anya didnt weigh 400 pounds when he arrived on campus things would be different. if we had a justise winslow at the 3 instead of ralston...

Appears that Brandon Ingram (probably Duke) and Malik Newman are long shots for '15. Ingram probably sees some good PT at Duke with Winslow likely leaving and with the mass exodus at Kentucky, there are a ton of top recruits that will look to fill-in there. If we get anybody in the '15 class, it will probably be de-commits from places that lost their coach who we had previously recruited (maybe Eric Davis at Texas??) or post-grad transfers.'16 is still looking good for two big Adidas kids (Bam Bam and Dennis Smith). Honestly, those kids would be perfect for us. Bam Bam would come in as a freshmen with Washington/Anya/Freeman as seniors and Abu as a Junior (if he's still here). So he either gets great coaching and not a lot of PT, or he provides some great spark off the bench for those guys. Then the post is all his for his sophomore year. Smith Jr could take over as point...as I don't think Cat stays for his senior year if he plays like he did at the end of the year. Remember he just had a kid. Also Lacey graduates. We just need to make sure we grab a couple guards (maybe a transfer this year that has to sit one year??) in this or the next class. Shooting guards and/or a backup that can fill in if Smith is a one-and-done.There's also a '16 big man that we just offered (Micah Potter) who looks to be a stretch-four. Has been flying under the radar but had a really good junior season and has lost some weight and is looking to blow it up this summer in AAU. Ohio State also just offered...so he's legit. He's got family in Raleigh...brother plays baseball at WVU...and he's from Ohio...so Ohio State is hometown team. So those are his top three. There's my update.[Edited on April 10, 2015 at 11:09 AM. Idk if this has been mentioned but apparently we are showing interest towards this 5'6 or so kid that averages 25 ppg at one of those prep schools. Not sure how real it is. Idk if yall watch this 10000 hours basketball doc on youtube but its about this guy that wants to be a trainer. First he trains this short asian kid and then he trains this kid christian carson. If his game has gotten better, it would be pretty cool if he worked out at State. but 5'6 man.... he would have to keep shooting lights out. You can learn a lot about him from these docs. Cant have him bringing his cookies around the team. I guess if spud could do it....https://youtu.be/C49roA2ivZc?t=33m21s[Edited on April 10, 2015 at 11:24 AM. Reason : d]

it worked out so well for tyler lewis
4/10/2015 11:27:14 AM
I still think Eric Davis would be a great get for us this year, but I've heard nothing about him decommitting from Texas. Really hard to see how our roster will shape up a year from now when we still don't know for sure if everyone is staying for next season, but if we somehow end up with Bam, Smith, Potter, and a combo guard (either now or next year but who'll play for at least 2 seasons) while managing to keep everyone but Cat and possibly Abu, I think we'll be in great shape.
4/10/2015 11:45:03 AM
I haven't heard anything about Eric Davis either. I'd kinda think current Texas commits would be happy about the Shaka hire and maybe less likely to decommit than if the new coach was a lesser known guy. But that's pure speculation on my part.

in news that is not at all surprising, here's this from a recent Brandon Ingram interview:
4/10/2015 3:43:53 PM
^^
4/10/2015 4:32:47 PM
Yeah I don't think Ingram or Newman were ever coming here no matter what the staff did. They can't really offer them any playing time next season with us only losing Turner. 2016 should be a big class, hope we have the type of success next season to land some of the guys Gott is going after for that class.
4/10/2015 7:31:29 PM
Tudor had an article yesterday that Duke may get a point for the fall that is reclassifying to the class of 2015. If so it may keep Dennis Smith away from Duke.
4/11/2015 10:11:51 PM
Apparently we are one of four schools (along with Clemson, Charlotte, and ECU) with permission to contact freshman PG Shelton Mitchell, who's transferring from Vanderbilt. We recruited him out of high school, when he was a 4 star top 75 recruit from Waxhaw known as a pass-first point guard, but he committed to Wake then flipped to Vandy after Bzdelik got canned. His shooting percentage was rough this year but he had solid assist #s. He played his senior year with the Martin twins at Oak Hill, so that could work in our favor. He'd have to sit out the 2015-16 season but would have three years of eligibility remaining starting in 16-17 (potential backup plan for Dennis Smith Jr.)
4/13/2015 4:16:29 PM
He wanted to flip to us last year, but Wake wouldn't let him. This gives us an insurance policy if we don't get Smith in '16. Also a good backup if we do get Smith.
4/13/2015 4:59:58 PM
^All of this.
4/13/2015 5:00:49 PM
His numbers make him look like Tyler Lewis, pass first, can't shoot very well. Would definitely be an insurance policy type guy in case we don't land a better PG in the 2016 class.
4/13/2015 6:05:20 PM
Except he's much bigger and more athletic than Lewis. If your point guard can't shoot well, he better at least be able to break his man off the dribble and get to the rim. This kid can do that...and maybe he can improve his shot a bit over the next year and a half before he has to actually play.
