just used the Elder Scroll on top of the Throat of the Worldi dunno if it was using the scroll or just going back up there, but a couple sidequests I had that were previously uncompletable (kill a giant somewhere, kill a dragon at bonestrewn crest) now showed up on my map and i was able to complete them

I am basically going the route you went. When I say I am trying to learn all the shouts, I meant that I'm still going to the Greybeards to find the Words of Power for all of the shouts I have now. I have all the dragon priest masks except for the one that you have to get at the end of the main quest line.
6/12/2012 9:59:22 AM
Don't know if they addressed this in a patch but back when I played the graybeards eventually stopped giving out word locations after a certain number and you were left to find the rest on your own. The 'work around' was to shout inside a city and eventually a messenger would show up with a quest that included the location of another wall.In my second playthrough I did a combo of the shout in town method and just revisiting places that I remembered from the first playthrough. The idea was to only use the finite number of graybeard quests to hunt down the last few walls once patience waiting on the messenger to show up wore off.
6/12/2012 12:20:29 PM
Yeah I exhausted the graybeards word wall quests and only had 19 shouts (including the Call Dragon shout)also the couriers come when you use a shout in any major hold, or small town like Riverwood. I had nearly beaten the game before I accidentally stumbled back into Helgen (original town from intro of game) and coincidentally did a Shout, only to have a courier come at me in the next towni guess most people don't ever go back to Helgen, and you obviously don't have the ability to Shout when you first start playing
6/12/2012 1:26:22 PM
that will probably be the last achievement i go after.whenever i get back to skyrim from diablo 3 haha.
6/12/2012 1:37:39 PM
i'm at 49/50, and somehow got the 15 daedric artifacts achievement without losing Barbas, although i think its because i have the rueful axe but just havent finished that questonly achievement left is to get a bounty of at least 1000 in each hold, which means i can just murder the shit out of some guards and innocents, run a far enough distance away to fast travel, and do the same evil shit in every other town

Getting back into the game to get ready for the DLC. Forgot how great it was. About to finally finish up the main story line (after 90 hrs of gameplay) It took me so long because I'm a rogue...all sneak and archery so it takes forever to clear dungeons.I was thinking though, that once I beat the main story that I would re-roll a Two-Handed/Heavy Armor Orc or Dual Wield/Heavy Red Guard....what say you?
6/25/2012 11:13:38 AM
if you did a stealth/archery class and want to do another one, a change of pace like heavy armor/something would be good...up close and personal battles
6/25/2012 11:41:51 AM
i recommend the heavy armor, 2-handed type of character. very fun and brutal in fights. concentrate all on health and stamina, 2:1 ratio, gonna need lots of stamina with 2-handed weapons.
6/25/2012 12:10:07 PM
My advice for your next game? Don't do ANY crafting (Smithing, Enchanting, Alchemy). It just makes the game more fun all around IMO. You can walk from one place to another and enjoy the scenery instead of picking every flower and catching every butterfly on the road. The weapons and armor you get from quests are actually useful instead of just being fancy looking garbage that you throw in your display rack. You have to manage your potions more effectively, plus you won't be racking up thousands in free gold so the economy isn't broken as quickly. Plus the difficulty progression will be more natural; you won't have super powerful equipment but also the enemies won't be as high level since you haven't been raising your crafting skills.[Edited on June 25, 2012 at 1:06 PM. I'm going to do it...feel crazy getting rid of 90+ hours of game play...Trying to decide between a DUAL WIELD RED GUARD and 2 HANDED ORC...anyone dual wield. How does blocking work if you don't use a sheild?I'd love to play as a Khajit or Argonian, but I've already sunk so much time into sneaking.
6/25/2012 1:16:43 PM
my heavy armor 2-handed orc i dual wielded once in awhile, just to switch it up some. blocking is essentially the same with a weapon versus a shield, you just take more damage compared to the shield. but it's better than not blocking at all.
6/25/2012 1:58:34 PM
You can't block if you dual-wield right?
6/25/2012 2:31:18 PM
you block with your 2nd weapon. its the same blocking motion, except it is with a weapon and not a shield.
6/25/2012 3:25:00 PM
Really? I thought the button you ordinarily use to block becomes your off-hand attack. I thought that was the drawback to dual wielding. http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Block_(Skyrim) agrees with me.
6/25/2012 4:20:40 PM
i dunno then.. i'm playing on PC and when i dual-wielded, i would still be able to block with the second weapon.
6/25/2012 5:04:48 PM
Who blocks? They call these games 'hack n slash' for a reason.

Man, Volendrung is badass. Being that I'm swingin' a warhammer most of the time, I'm sitting pretty high and mighty now^only thing it REALLY needs is a menu mod to replace that clunky garbage they ship it withSeriously, how did they think that was a good design

Regarding Dawnguard on other platforms, I've found this disappointing news on a few sites now:
7/28/2012 3:56:25 PM
I have a feeling it's the PS3 version that's holding it back. Stupid non DirectX machines.
7/29/2012 1:26:35 AM
Dawnguard out now for PC. And Skyrim is half price so if you don't have it (or don't have it for PC and want to try out some mods) you can get both for $50.[Edited on August 3, 2012 at 10:46 AM. Reason : ]
