even if you don't know much about wrestling (like me), it's worth going to a couple matches or catching one on ESPN3 to watch Gwiz. he's a beast, and it's readily apparent regardless of how well you understand the sport.

The video of him winning the National Championship last year was phenomenal. He was a pretty heavy underdog (although he was great...was just going against one of the best) and just wrestled an awesome match.

Hope he can do it again this year. Dude is a beast.

It's about the most pure form of athletic competition, 1 athlete versus 1 athlete, no teammates, nobody to help you out or weigh you down, just you and the other wrestler, using athleticism and strength for victory.

It's still kinda ~ though.

Get the F out of here with that crap. NC STATE fan or not the guy was an innovator and great basketball coach. I hate UNC probably more than 99.9 percent of the people you will ever meet but I have some damn perspective. Guy died and before that had a terrible disease. To be the opposite I think him helping further desegregation of basketball was awesome. Either way, rest in peace and hopefully most of my fellow NCSU alums and fans will be respectful.

I'll go ahead and say it, FUCK DEAN SMITH! I am never happy when someone dies, but that doesn't mean I have to be sad about this guy dying. Condolences to his family though. I have hated Dean Smith for most of my life, even as a child. This is a man who during his career actively tried and did sabotage our program & got us on probation. Probation for a committed player playing a pickup game with an assistant coach, when his program has now been found to have been actively cheating to keep players eligible and thereby corrupting the whole notion of a student-athlete. The worst part is that this didn't just give them a competitive advantage, but it cheated those players out of a real education. Again condolences to his family, but I forever will regard the man as a scumbag.

I always heard that the first game to try and distract players on the free throw line was a NCSU-UNC game. Dean Smith got angry at Tommy Burleson for encouraging fans to waive their arms behind the goal in distraction. He thought it was unsportsmanlike behavior.
