anyone want to go shoot some sporting clays this weekend? I'd be up for going to either Moncure or Fuquay to shoot a round or two.

I might be up for it, though the balance of my gun is gonna take some relearning. from a plugged mag to a 10 round in the pipe one is a large weight change.

there's no better way to learn your shotgun than by shooting at a moving target.

Well finally picked up a shotgun today, after months of internal debate I went with the Remington 870 18" synthetic, over the Mossberg 500. Had them put the ATI adjustable stock on it and that's it so far. I really wanted to bring home the Mossberg 930spx, but just didn't see spending the extra $$$$ on it. Can't wait to get a chance to get out and put some shells through it...

I don't know a whole lot about ammo, but I came across this article while reading some other stuff on wired, and thought you all might find it interesting or know more about it already.

Synopsis of SCCC meeting that occured tonight for those who couldn't make it:
______________________________________________________________________________

We had a great turn out tonight at our meeting. There were a lot of new faces and some great conversation.

Please remember to look at this site, and contact your representitives. Especially H1241, as it has a large impact on our cause.
Feel free to share this website.
URL: http://sites.google.com/site/ncgunleg/

We had two guests from the University this evening. David Rainer, Associate Vice Chancellor, Environment and Public Safety as well as Jon Barnwell, Patrol Division Commander, Campus Police were both in attendance for the meeting. We were all able to have reasonable FACT BASED conversations and share viewpoints.
They were both very appreciative of our proffesional demeanor and respectfullness. While not endorsing (the opposite actually) the idea, they both understood where we are coming from and wished us luck in our efforts (for the most part).

Keep wearing your holsters. It is very important to show our solidarity.
Some people argue (don't participate) because they want the fact that they carry to stay secret. An empty holster shows you SUPPORT concealed carry on campus. Thirty people on a campus of 33 thousand students makes very little impact.

On friday we will be in the Brickyard from 10am till 3pm. Please stop by and say hello.

On friday from 6pm till 8pm we will be having our private range day at PDHSC. You can get directions if needed from http://www.goshoot.com
If you need a ride, please let us know, and we will work out arrangements.

On Saturday, we are still having our cook-out. It will be from noon till 2pm. Please come out and introduce yourselves. Please RSVP to the event page, so I know how many burgers to buy. Also, please include something to bring as well that you can share. After the eating is done, we will be heading over to Fun Center on Tryon for some Put-Put and Go carts.

This is aggravating:

"Police Stop Man For Carrying Gun Out In Open
Milwaukee Chief To Officers: Ignore Gun Memo

MILWAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. -- As WISN 12 News was interviewing a West Allis man about his past arrest for carrying a gun in the open, police confronted him again Tuesday night -- one day after the state's attorney general ruled it's legal.

"Somebody called the police that somebody was walking around with a gun on their hip," a West Allis police officer said.

"I would fit that description," Krause said.

"That would be you," a West Allis police officer said.

Police arrived up to investigate Krause while 12 News was interviewing him about his previous arrest for carrying a holstered gun on his hip outside his home. One officer saw Krause's gun and asked what agency he's affiliated with.

"I'm the same guy I was when you arrested me the last time," Krause said.

The officers asked for his name and called dispatch.

"The reason I'm checking is because felons can't have guns in Wisconsin," West Allis police said.

Krause is not a felon. He's a certified firearms instructor.

........

Milwaukee's police chief said he'll go on telling his officers to take down anyone with a firearm despite Van Hollen's finding that people can carry guns openly if they do it peacefully.

Chief Ed Flynn said officers can't assume people are carrying guns legally in a city that has seen nearly 200 homicides in the past two years.

He said that means officers seeing anybody carrying a gun will put them on the ground, take the gun away and then decide if the person has a right to carry it."

Everyone has the right to openly carry a firearm. However, don't whine when a citizen calls the police on you and the police have to respond or the police out of curiosity, contact you in the street to see whats going on. Its not everyday you see someone walking down the street with a gun on your hip and they might want to inquire about your story.

I don't mind the police asking about it, checking your id and maybe even calling in to see if you're a felon. However:

gets my goat.

i think the people carrying guns,

especially illegal, unregistered, or guns have/have not been used in a crime...

are not about to wear them proudly in their holsters.

im pretty sure most people that openly carry guns in public are legit, which doesnt justify getting put on the ground...

And that's why open carry harassment is so stupid and obviously emotionally biased. Anyone who is a credible threat is almost certainly not going to have his gun properly stowed in a holster on his hip. If you want to ask me who I am and check, that is certainly acceptable, but to assume one is guilty of an offense despite all reasonable evidence to the contrary, then you're on the wrong side of the line as far as civil rights are concerned.

Case in point locally, the Arby's incident. The guy went after the RPD for harassment and won.

^There was a similar case in Richmond VA with a black guy open carrying and eventually being arrested for doing so. I can't remember if he won because whatever happened between him and the cop was considered racial profiling or that they had in fact arrested him for open carry (probably both). Regardless he sued the Richmond PD and got a lot of money for it. It's in that forum somewhere.

I saw a few of those at the Charlotte gun show this past weekend. For the average civilian it seems more like a novelty item since it can be broken down and completely fit into the stock. I think one of them was like $200 used when I walked by it.

Interesting

It says since Henry Repeating bought it out back in the 80's, that it is become a pretty reliable backup rifle, that is accurate enough for hunting up to 50 yds... with 22lr, that would be all I really expect anyway

it is pretty much just a variation of the rifle given to pilots as a survival tool- even floats... wouldn't be a bad thing to keep in your backpack if camping or in your trunk

I was worried the stuff would be "floating around" inside the stock- good to see everything has it's place

The Milt Sparks SS II came today for my G22. Pretty nice holster, not bulky and it supports the gun very well. Does have some back and forth with the straps being so close together. The Woolfe Leather - Lone Wolf should be here tomorrow.

The bulk of the snaps print when I wear a slimmer fitting t-shirt. Might put this up for sale or return it.

milt sparks does not make slim clips. have you tried a different method of attachment?

if you get a velcro backed belt made, you will never see the attachment points.

Man if all that's printing are the snaps then I'd say don't worry about it.
The only people who will notice are you and other gun nuts. Gun nuts don't freak out if you're printing.

My new gun.
Let me show you it.

BTW, PDHSC kicks ass. Don't buy from any other store.
I got this pink gripped 637 for cheaper than a regular black grip one at every other shop (pink grips are a $20 option).

did they sell you a matching hello kitty holster? I bought my J frame there, gently used at a good price. They turn a lot of inventory through there, if you see something you want you better get it then.

PDHSC has the best prices for non LEO folks on handguns. The only reason i look at handguns in other shops is that PDHSC has very limited selection on some guns.

Shop around...Jim's Gun shop was much cheaper last time I needed a handgun. PDHSC wasn't too cheap when compared to Lawmens as well....If its used or on consignment, that might be different.

Where would one go about getting some .45 acp, and what is a good price nowadays (say, per 100 rounds)?

Store or online is fine...I just need some ammo.

the .45 ammo isn't cheap. I bought a case about 5 months ago for $330 for 1000. Now, I have seen the same brick going for $390-400 easy. If you are looking for a price for 100, expect to pay anywhere from $48-60. You don't get the discount if you only buy several hundred.
