many pics from Viriginia International Raceway== a few were taken with my Canon A540 so they are not the SLR, but most areMy SLR broke, but under Sears' replacement plan, they gave me a Rebel XT for a 300D!! 3 Years newer technology, 8mp v 6mp too. (The fact that I work there is not relevant, I had to buy the plan option, glad I did, same service for any joe customer)http://s146.photobucket.com/albums/r242/cheerwhiner/koni2007/sample pics:[Edited on October 12, 2007 at 11:21 AM. ^nice panning. looks like a sweet event, tooThis is from Tokyo, during the 2 weeks out of the year when the Sakura blossoms are blooming
10/12/2007 12:53:33 PM
I edit all my pictures to be 1920X1080 so I can display the perfectly on a 1080p samsung LCD that has a continuous slide-show function, thus the 'widescreen' cropping that I did for thoseCan't wait to try out the Rebel XT with more resolution in the future at races; going to be a good 2008 for me and racetracks
10/14/2007 7:37:37 AM
All taken with a D200. Some with flash, some not, variety of lenses from the Nikon 18-70, 50mm, and possibly one or two with the Tamron 18-250, I can't remember. These 3 weddings were a few weeks ago.

i've always been fond of right-of-way monuments
10/15/2007 12:08:14 AM
so i have a Canon Rebel XT, but im still new to photography. What's the best way for me to take some decent pictures in low lighting without it being blurry? i know it's tough with digital, but without a flash it's always blurry, with a flash it doesnt do anything for a bigger area.
10/15/2007 12:24:17 AM
It's called a tripod.
10/15/2007 1:48:26 AM
im sure that would help tremendously, but what about when it's moving subjects. For example i took pics during flag football, but they were either blurry or dark
10/15/2007 2:25:44 AM
Unless you spend $$$$ on a fast lens, f/2.8 or better, you're gonna be stuck using a flash, and even then, action shots at night are still extremely hard to take photos of. My advice, find something easier in a better light situation to take photos of to learn photography on.
10/15/2007 2:31:42 AM
yeah thats good advice. what about something like a concert where pics are blurry without fast movement?
10/15/2007 2:33:00 AM
uhg, the people kissing in the photos really need to close their eyes
10/15/2007 4:51:57 AM
change the ISO to 1600 when it gets dark.just don't forget to change it back to 100 when the sun comes out.
10/15/2007 8:52:49 AM
i should have pictures to add soonreplaced my battery charger so now i can get my pics off my camera hope to be uploading some stuff w/in the next few days

My friend just took these, I won't take credit for them, I was just impressed on the clarity without the use of a tripod.
10/15/2007 12:32:37 PM
Nice work! Where was he located to get such a great view?
10/15/2007 1:41:47 PM
I have a Canon bag I bought a couple of months back when I bought my Rebel camera (something I have since returned for financial reasons). It is in 100% brand new shape, and I spent $45 on it. Obviously I have no use for it, so if anyone here wants it, make an offer.Photo in my gallery.

Sunday I will got to VIR for the last time this year, with my new Rebel XT, I hope it will be nice outside. Should come back with some awesome stuff, It will be my third time up there- I should have a good idea of exactly where to go and set up now.

I'm going to Chicago and Milwaukee in the next few weeks. Any suggestions on what, where to shoot? Besides the architecture of course. I have the kit lens and the nifty fifty. What are some lenses you suggest for my canon xti?
10/26/2007 7:49:47 PM
I would junk your kit lens and get an EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens and let that be your primary lens. If you need something telephoto, then pick up something like a 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM. Lots of people in Chicago like to shoot the bean.[Edited on October 26, 2007 at 8:28 PM. Reason : 75]
10/26/2007 8:16:08 PM
^ exactly the setup that I have for my XTi, except i'm going to go for the 70-200 F/4L for my telephoto, a bit better quality than the IS zoomer and not much more $$$.although i'm really wanting to get the 50 F/1.4 as my primary lens
10/26/2007 10:55:37 PM
10/26/2007 11:07:36 PM
^nice, ^^ thanks for the heads up, I'll do some reading on those lenses.
10/27/2007 1:24:59 PM
^^ That first on has dynamic range issues and the second one goes overboard on color saturation.
10/27/2007 2:21:01 PM
The first one was converted to b&w and thats it. and yea... I TWW'ed the 'bean' shot.
10/28/2007 12:54:59 AM
My new toy...not really mine, but whatever. This is shortly before I locked the machine up, and had to cut out my knitting Near the first picture.

Anyone have recommendations on a camera/laptop backpack?I have been eying Crumpler and Lowepro but found there are other brands such as Kata and Tamrac. Which ones do you own or used and would recommend?I tired the Lowepro CompuDaypack but it was kind of cheap and limited IMO. I was wondering if the Kata and Crumpler were worth their prices?
