anybody watch the McD's AA game last night? Apparently the ACC is getting 7 of them... and they're all going to Duke & UNC
4/3/2014 12:09:59 PM
And one of the two consensus biggest snubs is UL...
4/3/2014 12:13:21 PM
Didn't watch it, but apparently Okafor (Duke) and Justin Jackson (UNC) were both really good. Everybody knows Okafor is a beast, but I know nothing about Jackson. Apparently he's a big-time score, though he's really thin.
4/3/2014 1:50:51 PM
so was Durant.
4/3/2014 1:51:22 PM
Jackson is a toothpick...and he doesn't have the handle and outside shot that Durant has. He's got a decent handle and a good mid-range game...but he's not a big three point threat.Since he's too thin to bang down low and doesn't have a good enough outside game to be a 3-point threat...I'm not too worried about him next year. He and Hicks will battle it out to see who can get 10 minutes a game.
4/3/2014 2:00:19 PM
Please lord let us be in on Obekpa, transferring for St Johns. It's been forever since we've had a dominating interior defender...
4/3/2014 2:04:33 PM
We've got Anya! But having two true centers wouldn't hurt.

apparently the martins are on espn2 again, right now, and are doing pretty well, again.
4/4/2014 3:52:28 PM
Martin twins playing again, today, at noon, on ESPN.

WTF do these kids see in Virginia?they wont be scorers there...its a gimmick offense and good defensive team.
4/10/2014 3:57:38 PM
Maybe an ACC Championship and #1 seed in the tourney?
4/10/2014 4:00:48 PM
Don't recall if football or basketball, but Pack Pride recently retweeted a prospect responding to Scotty Mccreery's straight up recruitment pitch, which I'm 95% sure is a violation. Seems dumb to call attention to our most famous fan committing ncaa violations. [Edited on April 10, 2014 at 7:39 PM. Reason : Ddd]
4/10/2014 7:37:13 PM
isn't it okay b/c he's an official student? or something?
4/10/2014 7:42:43 PM
We can do all the violations we want. Heck I hope we get caught just for Yow to show the NCAA the middle finger and get them a rental car with directions to Chapel Hill.[Edited on April 10, 2014 at 7:46 PM. Reason : jk]
4/10/2014 7:45:06 PM
does he actually take classes here? if you're not a student or booster you can do pretty much whatever you want. he went to the same high school, so maybe some sort of preexisting relationship? i dunno
4/10/2014 7:48:23 PM
pretty sure it's a violation but a really minor one and with twitter everyone is doing that shit
4/10/2014 7:52:18 PM
I'd love to see the NCAA have the balls to try and give us a violation for something that 100% of universities in the country are doing while UNC continues to roll on scott free.Technically...its a violation. But all you have to do is look on twitter at any of these recruits and see that if the NCAA tried to crack down on it, there would be no more college sports. Everyone would be sanctioned.
4/10/2014 8:28:03 PM
i'm like 90% sure i remember a case where sean may was playing pickup w/ recruits and it was allowed b/c he was enrolled in summer courses.
4/10/2014 8:32:24 PM
i mean it's one of those secondary violations that schools self report along with 70 other secondary violations at a time to show the ncaa that their compliance department is doing something. nobody gives a shit
4/10/2014 9:15:39 PM
The tweet was also to Nyheim Hines, 4* RB target for the football team.
4/10/2014 9:32:52 PM
recent follows on twitter by Graham
4/11/2014 12:06:48 PM
^ No TBDV as a recent follow? I don't know if we should keep recruiting this kid.
4/11/2014 2:44:19 PM
He's no longer on twitter.GNSP

Graham visiting KU this weekend, then us next week
4/14/2014 12:47:27 PM
I feel pretty good about this. Which means he'll prolly go to KU.
4/14/2014 8:14:46 PM
I would love to see Devonte here as I think he's a great fit for us and our system can be a great fit for him as well. That said, the (non-internet) people in the know that I've talked with made it seem pretty unlikely he'll end up at State, depending on how much sway his parents (who obviously hope to see him play near home) have. Granted, one of those conversations was shortly before Tyler left, but I'm still not counting on getting him. Stuff changes pretty fast in recruiting, though, so I really hope I'm wrong and the folks on PackPride who "feel good" about it are right.[Edited on April 14, 2014 at 9:06 PM. Reason : #sources]

Here's some HighLIGhtS of the first few games he played at Brewster (video's from late November 2013).http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aB_BawnpPIEIf he chooses us, he'll be our 3rd guy from Brewster in as many years (TJ & Kyle).
4/14/2014 9:35:50 PM
My sources say he's a State lock. They've been on the money on our last 8-9 recruits. Only miss was Wiggins.
4/14/2014 9:41:47 PM
Like I said, I really hope I'm wrong as all the PackPride insiders seem to be saying good stuff too. Hopefully it's one of those things where the situation has changed since I last spoke to the people "in the know," I'm just trying not to get too excited about it just yet.

would definitely make the tyler lewis loss easier to take.

Latest news is that Graham is down to 5 and we're involved(along with Kansas, Providence, UVA, and VT).So at least we're in the hunt if nothing else and I like Gott's ability to close on recruits. But Kansas and UVA won't be push-overs, esp. after the season UVA had last year.
4/16/2014 8:43:43 AM
I can't really see him going to Providence or VT, but that's based on absolutely nothing so who knows.
4/16/2014 9:06:45 AM
Only thing I'm worried about is if one of these schools could sell him on a starting job from day one. We can't do it and I definitely don't think Kansas could do it.I would hope that he would like to stay close to home and be okay with backing up Cat for a year or two (while still getting major minutes...10-15/game) before he has a shot at running the team. But ya never know.
4/16/2014 9:20:31 AM
I think that's a really long shot. Didn't we just lose Lewis to that very same pitch? And he was already on the team for 2 years. Also, this kid has arguably more potential.
4/16/2014 9:37:40 AM
Lewis was recruited over so it's a bit different. Devonte would commit knowing the pecking order I'm sure. But we've had issues under Gott with minutes so I'm not sure how this would work. Personally I think Gott over sells but you kind of need to with kids these days.[Edited on April 16, 2014 at 9:44 AM. Reason : X]
4/16/2014 9:43:33 AM
Wouldn't surprise me if he decided after his first 3 visits(Kansas, NC State, UVA). And at any of those 3 schools, he's not going to be expected to start from day 1, think he understands that. Think he just wants the ability to see the court early(so our pitch of 10-15 minutes per game is probably about the same as he could hope for at Kansas or UVA). We only have 1 true PG on our roster, couldn't be in a much better situation depth-wise to offer a recruit a chance to see the court early.
4/16/2014 9:45:07 AM
I believe Kansas only has one true PG and he is a senior. I might be wrong on that though.
4/16/2014 9:50:25 AM

4/16/2014 10:11:45 AM
"better"
4/16/2014 10:17:43 AM
More highly ranked...higher ceiling.I was a big Lewis fan...but he got recruited over. If he could have developed a better 3-point shot, he probably would have felt better about holding down the starting position. But he dropped the ball a bit and saw the writing on the wall and left.
4/16/2014 10:20:51 AM
I'd be really surprised if he ends up at UVA even though they were originally in his top two. I think we shot up a lot after Tyler announced his transfer (which was after I talked to people in the know) but I still wouldn't be shocked if Kansas gets him. We can offer more immediate playing time and the hometown appeal though, both of which are important to him. I also think it helps that we have two kids he played with at Broughton and two kids that attended Brewster that can talk up State to him.
