were those designed rollouts, ernie? of course not...^ why, because I was actually at the game and had questions about "controversial calls" during the game that I could not see in replay? shut the fuck up dude. go on The View and walk out on people you disagree with

oh, that makes perfect sense. please, forgive me for not knowing every single rule in the rulebook, especially when every other person around me was asking "why the fuck did he call a TO?" please, forgive me, oh great one. how dare I ask a question that might help me *gasp* learn something that I didn't know previously.look, if you don't like me actually discussing the game in, oh dear, the game thread, how about you go suck a dick and go somewhere else. and you have the nerve to call ME a troll.

tbh i dont know what the obsession with rolling wilson out iseveryone (except florida state) has a guy spy him and he isnt fast enough to beat a guy on the outside when theyre assigned to him. also when we cut the field in half for him now he always either has to force a pass into a tight window or throw the ball away.
11/6/2010 7:38:17 PM
You don't know clock rulesYou don't know the difference between scrambling and designed rolloutsYou don't understand why you would play for field position on 3rd and foreverYou think Wilson making a bad decision and chucking it into triple coverage is a hail maryYou need to go

Intentionally rolling out of the pocket with blocks is nowhere near the same thing as scrambling. We do not roll Wilson out. You're just wrong on this one.[Edited on November 6, 2010 at 8:01 PM. Reason : English]

I really wonder if the coaching staff has messed up Russell's confidence in throwing the ball downfield. He used to be super accurate on mid-to-long range throws, if he didnt have a man open he would either scramble or throw it away. Now that the coaching staff has made an effort into keeping him from scrambling, Wilson seems to be trying to force throws. Back when he set the record for attempts without an INT he seemed so much more confident and relaxed in the pocket, probably because he knew if he didnt see something immediately he could break the pocket and gain an easy 4-5 yards with his feet. He still has his moments where he looks like his old self, but some of these decisions he is making now wouldve never happened back when the streak was intact.I still cant believe we didnt win today. Clemson has had our number for years, they didnt today, we just decided to completely shoot ourselves in the foot

Guys we picked the perfect week to shut the bedToo bad we didn't outright take control of the division

We didn't really run that much playaction. Whatever. They need to put RW under center more for running plays. Bible just needs to mix up his looks more often.
11/6/2010 8:43:12 PM
^^the capslock was my way to show sarcasm there. Of course I dont blame the loss of our football team on an inside joke from tww, I just think its stupid and since we lost the same week/day that the joke started I think its safe to put it to bedzomg! pun intended
11/6/2010 8:55:37 PM
i don't think wilson is lacking confidence. it doesn't seem like he has any problem trying to squeeze a pass into double or triple coverage.
11/6/2010 8:57:43 PM
I'm aware of that, hait really would be a good idea to stay off of tww after a bad loss, but that is a lesson I should have learned years ago
11/6/2010 8:58:10 PM
I don't think Russell was ever super accurate at throwing it deep. He was just smarter. He would only throw it into single coverage, which is a high probability play. The receiver has to make the play, there. The receiver can't be expected to make the play against double and triple coverage. The other case is making a deep throw on the scramble drill, which is obviously hard for any defense to cover. Also, opponents are now making a concerted effort to keep Russell in the pocket. So, all of that is making Russell perform poorly in comparison to previous years. Russell really has a lot of work to do as far as making better reads and going through progressions if he is going to stay in the pocket
11/6/2010 9:00:23 PM
time to prepare for wake and pray that we can still win out!
11/6/2010 9:07:46 PM
6 hours later and this loss pisses me off more than the ECU shit, and that was shit. What the hell happened to playing for the win on the road? What the hell happened to "boot to neck". We deserved deserved deserved to lose this game

that was a fucking awful gamebut i'm ready to let it go, thank god fsu lost and we still are in first in the Atlanticgod the ACC is a joke

I would bitch about double posting, but everything you said deserves to be said twice
11/6/2010 10:16:37 PM
Even when we were winning I was saying to myself these guys don't deserve to be winning
11/6/2010 10:30:20 PM
The O line lost this game and clemsons D line won it for themend of story.at least Maryland and FSU lost so we have a chance. On to next week.we MUST win out.
11/6/2010 10:35:06 PM
according to TOB last week, every game was must win gamebut somehow he decided to make pussy play call on 4th down? so which is it?
11/6/2010 10:39:16 PM
Damn. Ugly game. We could not run the ball at all...stupid mistakes and turnovers (although Clemson made plenty as well) all game. We didn't deserve to win this game. And we still should have won. At least FSU won. We can't afford anymore losses at this point. Beat Wake.
11/6/2010 10:46:06 PM
we should have gone for itbut now that i think about it more, i mean we did get the ball back. TJ could have caught that ball on 4th, or we could have converted before...we had a shot at the end. and also considering the plethora of missed opportunities by us on clemson fuckups....you have to say this is a loss by the team in sum total.we just have to build on this, realize we have to focus and play a much more disciplined game, and win out. we fucked up royally but somehow still can reach our goal -- we can't squander that opportunity.
11/6/2010 10:49:54 PM
^what he said
11/6/2010 10:53:40 PM
ughhhhh, look at this shit eating grin, u fucking cheater. we better win the next three or we seriously don't deserve to win this shitty division regardless if everyone else loses.

Just to beat the dead horse a little more, I thought about the punt a bit, and assumed this: The punt puts Clemson on the 20 yard line (we were on the 40?, either gets between 10-20 or it goes for a touchback). Clemson goes 3 and out as TOB hoped. They punt and we get it back on the NC State 40 yard line, 3 minutes to go, no time outs.We still need to drive all the way down to what, the 20 yard line, before TOB is confident in our kicker to punch in a game winning field goal, as we have had a definitive "4 down territory" this season no matter what the score or time remaining is. I'm not confident that our offense wouldn't still just grip and rip their way to field goal range, given the coaching they had on that final failed drive...and hell the rest of the game.
11/6/2010 11:41:01 PM
I didn't read this entire thread, and I'm not siding with burro on this, but we have got to get Wilson out of the pocket more often and do it intentionally. We had some good success doing it today on occasion, but we absolutely have to do it more. Whether its sliding the pocket, rolling him out, whatever, he's much more effective when we do that. We definitely did it today but we did it early, then late, and did very little of it in the middle of the game. For some reason we do it intentionally very little inside the red zone. The last 2 times I remember us doing it on purpose down there we scored, and he has throw some bad interceptions from the pocket in the red zone.

^ I agree with whoever posted the fact that we don't roll him out enough. We don't. It's not only about getting running options, it's also about slowing down the pass rush, allowing wilson to see over the line better, giving receivers longer to get open, etc. If they spy him, that should give us an even better opportunity to have a man open. Yes, you're cutting the field off, but Russell is clearly better on the run. IMO, we don't intentionally get him outside of teh pocket nearly enough
11/7/2010 12:03:17 AM
i don't think sliding the pocked to one side or another to give him better throwing lanes necessarily takes away half the field. Rolling him out against the grain like most people are thinking would do that but you're talking about a play where you have to throw quickly or pull it down to run. Also, I have to mention....The play where Bowers got his first sack I almost shat my pants when I saw the replay...because we let the back go one on one with him...pretty sure it was JW. Fucking horrible.
11/7/2010 12:06:14 AM
I think the reason we dont roll the pocket more is to keep Russell healthy more than anything...that said, he much more dangerous there
