Navy is an option that is seriously being discussed for ACC expansion?(per @ACCSports: David Glenn's sources say ACC discussing expansion this week, 3 potential targets: Louisville, UConn and Navy)
11/27/2012 10:46:08 AM
Football brings in money to the schools. NCAA Tournament money stays with the NCAA. Regular season TV contracts for hoops only brings in so much.
11/27/2012 10:49:21 AM
Okay so if the ACC seriously adds Navy, I would hope the majority of Wolfpack Nation would be up for leaving the ACC. I hope the silver lining to TOB being dismissed is that we are trying to become more serious about football and a better candidate for the SEC.
11/27/2012 10:52:44 AM
Navy is hilarious. I know you guys love shitting on UConn but there is no universe where Navy is the better option in football and especially athletics in general.Gotta be UL or UConn.
11/27/2012 10:55:05 AM
Navy? Abandon fucking ship.
11/27/2012 10:58:08 AM
Navy? This conference is sinking to new depths
11/27/2012 10:58:40 AM
Let's just bring South Carolina back to the ACC. They could make a BCS game every year

Hey, how about this?We do that original ACC conference (swap GT for MD) for one divisionandwe put everyone else in the other division. We can call one "ACC" and the other one "Big East."

11/27/2012 11:24:03 AM
You realize navy is in this discussion because of TV market, right? Losing the DC market sucks donkey balls for the ACC.Plus they are already better than wake and bc at football and basketball.
11/27/2012 11:32:16 AM
Who doesn't know that TV drives conference realignment?
11/27/2012 11:34:12 AM
I'm just saying that keeping the DC market is pretty damn important for the future of the conference. That and Navy makes a hell of a lot more sense than UConn.
11/27/2012 11:41:02 AM
there's speculation that navy could entice notre damn to be a member in all sports, but i still don't think that's gonna happen
11/27/2012 11:49:10 AM
The DC market still intact with UVa and VT. ACC games will still be broadcast there. Baltimore market, perhaps not. And if its all TV why is UL even being discussed. It's 50th and 50% of the Hartford/New Haven market!Navy is not good in football or basketball.[Edited on November 27, 2012 at 11:49 AM. Reason : ^ bingo and that's the only scenario it makes sense]

11/27/2012 12:12:48 PM
didn't ND and wake agree to 2 more games? and how many did ND agree to with pitt and miami? if the ACCadded navy, almost half of ND's 2012 schedule would be against current or future ACC schools
11/27/2012 12:12:53 PM
You people need to put sources or at least explain what your news is. Did ECU join Big East?
11/27/2012 12:14:09 PM
with the "group of five," is the big east not just a semi-glorified conference usa?
11/27/2012 12:14:10 PM

I don't even know who is/will be in the Big East anymore
11/27/2012 12:31:44 PM
With ECU finally going to the Big East, they are 1 step closer to joining the ACC in a few years. However, by the time that happens, Big East will be dissolved, the ACC will be made up of 94% former Big East teams (minus the semi-member Notre Dame), and all of the original ACC teams are scattered between SEC B1G BigXII, plus BC in the PAC16. Conference alignment has been bastardized. I wish they could blow up the whole system and start over. Except make sure ECU is left out of all major conferences.[Edited on November 27, 2012 at 12:43 PM. Reason : ]

Such a bad move for ECU. ECU should have joined the Big East 5 years ago. They would still have Skip Holtz and would be in hella better shape.
11/27/2012 2:29:13 PM
^You post that as if you thought they had a choice in the matter. This is the best possible move for them. (even though it's still meh)

UVA's board of trustees meeting today to discuss the B1G's standing invitation. Apparently, they won't be voting on it today, but will be appointing someone to make the final decision. As soon as UVA bounces all hell will break loose and the ACC will be raided fully. Big 12 and SEC just waiting on that first move.

apparently theres an unwritten rule that they wont take a university from a state that doesnt already border a current universitys stateso apparently the end game is to get unc, also both uva and unc are aau universities
