Factor in that journalists in charge of this stuff love to put the "big brands" up there -UNC included despite the farce of a class.... We are by no means a "big brand" school and probably never will be.

Quote :
"Former Bulldog Michael Lemon has a chance to back in the SEC.

UGASports has learned that South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier will allow the defensive end an opportunity to turn his life around as a walk-on with the Gamecocks this fall.

Two former teammates of Lemon's at Georgia confirmed the story on condition of anonymity.

Lemon could not immediately be reached for comment.

Georgia fans will remember Lemon, a 6-4, 250-pound defensive end from Lizella, who was kicked off the team by head coach Mark Richt after he was arrested and charged with felony battery incident last June.

After leaving Georgia, Lemon spent last season at Georgia Military College where he teamed with linebacker Tony Straughter and offensive lineman Steven Singleton who signed with the Gamecocks on Wednesday. "

from what i am hearing we are offering once his legal troubles are over with and this article IS NOT OFFICIAL. Lemon has not made anything official.

I really hope we land Dontae Johnson in the 2010 class. He has great size and speed for a safety (6'3", 185 lbs, 4.5 40). According to pp he also has a 3.8 gpa. Hopefully TOB convinces him to leave the northeast.

It looks like everyone already is. Alabama, Clemson, Duke, Maryland, Notre Dame, North Carolina, N.C. State, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia have all offered, and Georgia is interested too. Besides Duke, that's a pretty stout offer list.

DT Evan Hailes had an unofficial visit to State on January 31. Dude is huge and already has some great offers.

Evan Hailes
Defensive tackle
Chesapeake (VA) Oscar Smith
Ht: 6-2
Wt: 320 lbs
40: 5.0

Schools Interested (known offers in italics)
Boston College
LSU
N.C. State
Tennessee
Virginia Tech
West Virginia

Georgia
North Carolina
UCLA
Virginia

Quote :
"Scouting Report: Hailes is a massive defensive tackle prospect who can play in a 4-3 or as a nose in a 3-4 defense in college. He plays with good leverage and is quick for his size. He’s especially stout against the run but can also get a push up the middle on passing downs."

Quote :
"Hailes is only a junior, but is already massive. He does what he wants when he wants to do it on the line, and doesnt let anyone get in his way. Last season, he tallied 75 tackles, 12 sacks and 15 tackles for loss."

http://www.thestate.com/gogamecocks/story/679236.html

Quote :
"The junior college coach of former Georgia defensive end Michael Lemon said he does not expect Lemon to end up at South Carolina.

The Gamecocks have given Lemon an opportunity to walk on, but Georgia Military College coach Bert Williams said Monday that Lemon has a scholarship offer from a BCS-conference school. Williams would not identify the school, but he said it is not in the SEC.

Georgia coach Mark Richt dismissed Lemon from the team in July after he was charged with felony battery for allegedly punching another student in the face five times during an altercation.

Williams said Lemon did not sign last week because the interested school wanted him to wait until his legal issues were resolved, which Williams expects to happen soon.

“I would say there’s very little chance that Lemon would end up in Columbia,” Williams said.

Williams said he had no disciplinary problems with Lemon at Georgia Military.
"

If we have any early commitments look for it to be from Fre'Shad Hunter and Logan Stewart. They are very high on NC State right now. I don't know a time table for their recruitment, but the staff is apparently doing a good job on them.

Crisp has said before that he probably won't decide until after his senior season is over. He would potentially announce at the whichever All-American game he attends (probably the Army AA game) or on signing day. Kids do change their mind often though.

story on Carl Johnson
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3912274&campaign=rss&source=NCFHeadlines

GAINESVILLE -- Florida Gators offensive lineman Carl Johnson was arrested on Monday and charged with violating a domestic violence restraining order.

SEC blog

ESPN.com's Chris Low writes about all things SEC in his conference blog.

• Blog network

According to Alachua County records, Johnson last week was ordered to stay away from a woman but was arrested early Monday afternoon after he allegedly followed her off a bus.

Johnson, 6-foot-6, 330 pounds, was being held in the Alachua County jail late Monday night.

Florida coach Urban Meyer was unavailable for comment.

Johnson started eight games at left guard for the national champions last season.

Johnson, who will be a junior next season, is the fourth Florida player to be arrested in the past 10 months. Safety Jamar Hornsby was arrested on felony credit card fraud charges last May, cornerback Jacques Rickerson was arrested on felony battery charges last November, and quarterback Cam Newton was arrested on felony burglary charges last November.

Hornsby, Rickerson and Newton are no longer with the team. Hornsby recently signed a national letter-of-intent to play at Ole Miss.

still in the lead for tony creecy:

“Right now I’m interested in staying in state as I favor N.C.State right now, but I am going to take all of my visits before I make a decision,” said Creecy. “The school that I have the best visit to, and the school that has a good engineering program, is where I will go. I hope that the NFL is in my future but I want to have a good education to fall back on if it doesn’t.”

^Great news. It's really nice to see that kind of quote coming from our recruits. Seems to have his priorities straight and a good head on his shoulders. He's definitely the kind of kid that TOB wants in his program, and the kind of kid I love to see in State jersey.

any news on Junior Day worth posting? I really hope we get Creecy and Crisp(y). I believe if Mattes and Wallace (and that kid from Georgia) who are north carolina kids show this year, which many expect, to be studs, then that will i think start swaying our O-Line prospects to stay in state, plus if we could just win a few more games. Hard to argue with kids who want to go play for national championship contenders.
