would rather have the death penalty. could care less about the wins. burn it to the ground.
10/23/2014 4:50:56 PM
^^ 2005 and 2009 should both go bye bye. ^ I will cum everywhere if that happens.[Edited on October 23, 2014 at 4:51 PM. Reason : *]
10/23/2014 4:51:14 PM
I just want their recruiting to suffer mightily to the point that they totally suck.
10/23/2014 4:52:51 PM
Front page search ESPN for "UNC". Nothing.

Typical DSPN spin^was going to post that too. Fedora tried to play Roy-dumb, but went full retard. [Edited on October 23, 2014 at 5:03 PM. Reason : x]

There is this UNC story on ESPN that was just posted a little over an hour ago:http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/jeff-goodman/post?id=4196

I would be surprised if the parents of most of these kids gave a fuck what their kids were majoring in.
10/23/2014 5:07:01 PM
Would you rather see:A) UNC vacates all wins/banners from the last 20 yearsB) UNC has a post season ban for the next 20 yearsC) UNC has heavy scholarship reductions (say ~50%) for the next 20 yearsYou can only pick 1go....[Edited on October 23, 2014 at 5:17 PM. Reason : ]
10/23/2014 5:11:41 PM
I want to see them SUCK for the next 20 years, but that hardly means we'd beat them for the next 20 years.
10/23/2014 5:16:08 PM
A easily. B and C would be reduced by the ncaa after 2-4 years of good behavior (see Penn State)
10/23/2014 5:18:28 PM
I hear ya, but I just can't get too excited about vacated wins. It doesn't really mean anything and doesn't seem like it would have any effect going forward. The wins still happened.
10/23/2014 5:19:45 PM
^^^^ C would almost certainly guarantee B. Don't see many basketball teams with 6-7 scholarship players or football teams with 42-43 scholarship players making the post-season without another scandal happening.
10/23/2014 5:32:23 PM
Cmon guys. Wolfpack sports with no unc would be like star wars with no dark side of the force.
10/23/2014 5:36:31 PM
I still don't see it happening. This is their cash cow.
10/23/2014 5:40:00 PM
people keep saying unc is a cash cow... the last i checked all of football was driving the bus here.
10/23/2014 5:41:06 PM
A for sure. I'd actually jerk off to watching them yank the banners down. Not just titles would come down, final four banners as well, and acc championships. [Edited on October 23, 2014 at 5:45 PM. Reason : .]

it has exactly zero to do with this scandal.he's just doing his job writing about basketball.wait, there is this at the very end:
10/23/2014 5:57:27 PM
While I can't really get excited about vacated wins...However, I can get pretty excited about vacated national championships. That's some straight up embarrassing shit. Then again, I'd love to see them fuckers have the death penalty dropped on the entire athletic department....after all, this is department wide. Not limited to one or two sports. All that said, I'm still not getting my hopes up for any additional NCAA action. We'll see though. I'd love to be wrong.
10/23/2014 6:06:19 PM
10/23/2014 6:09:08 PM
I need to get my money out of bovada because I definitely took UNC moneyline in 2005 and 2009 and don't want them voiding that bet when they revoke those championships.
10/23/2014 6:10:24 PM
Is the death penalty something, or just words? Just trying to wrap my head around what that would mean. Like, shut down the entire athletics dept?
10/23/2014 6:12:51 PM
10/23/2014 6:15:11 PM
That's it? I was picturing a firing squad or electric chain for Roy Williams and Tyler Hansbrough
10/23/2014 6:26:04 PM
Well this is all of SMU's punishment.
10/23/2014 6:28:46 PM
The punishment should be AT LEAST the Death Penalty™. What UNC did goes beyond anything uncovered in college athletics including SMU (I don't consider Penn St in the same boat because the nature of what happened was so entirely different). Every team with a player kept eligible by these classes has to vacate all wins and titles. Scholarships in every sport that was impacted by these classes should be reduced and revoked. Recruiting in all effected sports should be restricted. Every academic and athletic employee of the University tied to this scandal should be fired. Competition in any of these sports should be cancelled, and the athletes dispersed into the wind. The only appropriate punishment for what has been done is to burn the fucking house to the ground and salt the earth. This is literally the exact scenario the Death Penalty™ exists for; systemic, sustained academic fraud for the sake of athletic accomplishment. If the NCAA doesn't drop that bomb, then everyone should just start cheating immediately, because it will never be appropriately punished.
10/23/2014 6:54:46 PM
honestly, and i'm not the first to say this, they deserve to have their accreditation questioned. i'm sure they won't have it revoked, but this is really bad from an academics perspective as well.and clearly three banners need to come down. are there any statues of dean that can go too?]
10/23/2014 6:56:47 PM
^ I've been wondering why I haven't seen anyone else mention accreditation
10/23/2014 7:02:25 PM
I'd actually take UNC losing their accreditation if the banners don't come down. I mean I want both to happen, but I'm not gonna be all greedy about it.
10/23/2014 7:07:46 PM
I don't anyone has mentioned accreditation because that already got glossed over during the initial round of this investigation.
10/23/2014 7:09:13 PM
I've seen it mentioned a couple of times, although the context was more in the area of having their accreditation officially reviewed, rather than pulled entirely, and possibly removing the accreditation of the specific colleges/programs (AFAM and whichever others) involved.
10/23/2014 7:09:46 PM
Here's my top 3 wish list of bad things I hope to happen to UNC:1) ALL banners and wins vacated2) Future ban from NCAA play/loss of scholarships3) Loss of accreditation Hoping BuzzFeed lurks and gets lots of clicks by reposting.
10/23/2014 7:11:05 PM
10/23/2014 7:13:39 PM

rofl @ brian williams on nbc news. paraphrased:
10/23/2014 7:54:17 PM
Yeah, athletes everywhere do take easy classes, deadline leniency, extra help from tutors, things like that. That's a far cry though from what was going on at UNC. It's amazing, it's been clear for a while now that athletics ruled the roost over there, but the sheer brazenness of it all is what gets me. It's like they didn't even think this was wrong or out of the ordinary.
10/23/2014 7:59:57 PM
10/23/2014 8:04:21 PM
What desire to fix it?This investigation has dragged on for years and not a damn thing has changed and only a handful of people have been punished. What a fucking joke.

10/23/2014 8:35:23 PM
UK likes our sloppy seconds with regards to point guards
10/23/2014 8:38:19 PM
I think we all expect athletes to get leniency. That's a far cry from the administration blatantly cheating on their behalf. 9 people have been fired I think and UNC have lost one chancellor over this. That is beyond just leniency for athletes. You have 20 years' worth of graduates from one major that their degree for most of them is considered pretty much worthless at this point, whether they are an athlete or not. An individual cheating is an isolated case with little relevance to the surroundings. The people running the department set this up, that affects all students that have gone through.
