this is probably rehashing...But why the hell is HBO only doing 10 episode seasons, instead of the usual 12+? Pisses me off
5/15/2012 8:43:44 AM
Finally the Jon Snow subplot is picking up.
5/15/2012 8:51:28 AM
^^ cost. They've been asked that question a few times and basically this show is extremely expensive per episode and they just can't justify another 2 hours of completed project. Perhaps if the show continues to pick up viewers they might do it for a future season. As far as I know right now, Season 3 will still be 10 episodes, but it will only partially cover the general storyline of the next book. (So they are stretching the story out some, but seem limited to 10 episodes still)
5/15/2012 8:56:39 AM
Only getting 10 episodes a season YEAR is a total cock tease.

the wall/john snow/etc. is one of my favorite subplots, so i've really liked the time they've given it. hope it keeps up.
5/15/2012 12:49:38 PM
it's been a while since i read the books (the first 3, anyway), but i don't remember jon's storyline going like that, exactly
5/15/2012 1:16:09 PM

uh oh...did i do something wrong? i haven't kept up with this thread i refuse to edit my comment, in any case...if a mod doesn't like it, let them do it
5/15/2012 1:24:23 PM
oh no...not again.
5/15/2012 1:42:26 PM
I'd like to be able to speculate about future events like we did with Lost, Sopranos, etc. without worrying about folks who've read the books. Therefore, I propose we proceed as if the books don't exist, and treat the TV series as a completely separate entity. Its the only way to ensure the readers don't always feel the need to add their two cents in the form of "Well, in the book, it happened this way..." etc. Just pretend that this is a original series, devoid of any literary inspiration. Block the books from your mind. It shouldn't be this complicated. For the purposes of this thread, George RR Martin doesn't exist. The show is canon, pure and simple.
5/15/2012 1:44:51 PM
hell, after this season, the books might as well NOT exist...the differences between season 1 and the first book were comparatively minimal...season 2 is significantly (IMO) deviating from book 2...season 3 will be way out there by comparison[Edited on May 15, 2012 at 1:56 PM. Quagmire might not be the hero I wanted, but for the time being...he is the hero I needed.

Jeepin may let this slide based on his alleged ignorance of the established thread protocol. But next time, please[Edited on May 15, 2012 at 2:19 PM. Reason : x]
5/15/2012 2:18:32 PM
The books exist.
5/15/2012 2:34:48 PM
That's pretty win.
5/15/2012 2:35:27 PM
I haven't read the books and prefer to know when they differ as long as knowledge of those differences doesn't reveal epic spoilers.
5/16/2012 2:05:38 AM
As long as they don't fuck up the RW next season, I think I'm cool with most other deviations from here on out.
5/16/2012 8:07:03 AM
If they fuck that up...I will no longer be watching the show. Also, that will probably be two seasons from now. ASOS is going to be seasons 3 & 4.
5/16/2012 8:27:09 AM
In before Pikey's ban.
5/16/2012 8:35:10 AM
WTF, that isn't a spoiler unless anyone interested goes googling for it. At that point, they are spoiling it for themselves. They are stretching the 3rd book across two seasons?[Edited on May 16, 2012 at 9:21 AM. Reason : 3rd]
5/16/2012 9:20:22 AM
I can't effing believe that Pikey spoiled Russell Wilson's appearance in the story. JEEZ MAN!!! Keep that shit to yourself!!!!
5/16/2012 9:22:57 AM
I want to see more story subplots around the stark girl servant. seems like that guy knows.
5/16/2012 9:33:53 AM
he at least knows she's full of shit.
5/16/2012 9:48:26 AM
I bet he rapes her. You can see that look in his eye.
5/16/2012 9:49:50 AM
Wasn't the farmer dude the same guy that bran gave those 2 orphans to?
5/16/2012 12:40:16 PM
thanks for confirming you didn't read the thread
5/16/2012 12:41:26 PM
Thanks for confirming you're an asshole.
5/16/2012 12:43:53 PM
Let's talk about more important things. Like why the fuck there aren't more dire wolves in this shit. I don't want to hear anything about budget or blah blah blah...they're really blowing it in that department.
5/16/2012 1:03:03 PM
you saw all three in the last episode
5/16/2012 1:07:40 PM
There has been a decent amount of wolf action this season. A little more Ghost would be cool though.
5/16/2012 1:19:52 PM
I'd sacrifice all the wolves for just one damn epic battle
5/16/2012 1:22:53 PM
Ghost is my main complaint. He wouldn't have ended up this stupid fucking situation with Ygritte if Ghost were actually a part of the story.
5/16/2012 1:35:46 PM
yeah. ghost should've at least been stalking around nearby. even more so when ygritte semi escaped the first time when jon was still near qhorin & co. i was expecting to ghost to tackle her out of nowhere.
5/16/2012 2:01:56 PM
^^^ next sunday has you covered, sir.[Edited on May 16, 2012 at 2:30 PM. Reason : .]
5/16/2012 2:29:30 PM
^^ we're talking about the nurse girl? And the daughter of the guy who has the bridge? Is it really that crazy for him to like someone else when he was forced to accept a marriage with an ugly chick for political gain?I'm sure the guy realizes that Rob may not love his daughter. And he knows that the gain comes from them marrying... not from him never sleeping with another woman or sending her roses every day.
5/17/2012 8:02:44 AM
Im not sure why my post from last night was removed. All i was saying is that i worry that when the war is over and robb wants to return home with that girl he likes, the freys are probably not going to open their gates and let him pass without another deal or a fight. It hasnt been focused on much with all the other stuff going on but robb is obv in love with her. I just dont see him marrying freys daughter nowOn a side note, the mother of dragons storyline is beginning to bore me and jorah is acting like a b[Edited on May 17, 2012 at 12:43 PM. Reason : C]
5/17/2012 12:40:33 PM
I would explain why I thought they removed it and will probably remove this one as well, but that would probably be construed as a spoiler. Which now this comment is probably construed as a spoiler.
5/17/2012 1:00:41 PM
Boobs I was the one that told Jeepin he should remove it. It wasn't necessarily your post, trusting that you haven't read the books. It was the post after yours that was the main issue.
5/17/2012 1:15:24 PM
It's clear he's infatuated with her. That's a big leap from being in love with her and her being in love with him. And it's a separate, large leap from him not understanding what needs to be done and going along with it when the time comes.Yeah, I'm getting bored with the dragon story-line as well. Or at least I was, with the move to overtake the city last week, that changes some things and opened up the potential for some change/progress to that story-line.
