I wouldn't say that one is better than the other (Match or OKC). I've talked with, and been on a lot more dates with girls from Match than OKC but historically haven't found much success on either one.

Though I think some of that has to now do with my apathy and jadedness

it's happened to me several times. and i have no idea what to say. thankfully most have just been that mutual acknowledgment of "i know you, and i know you know i know you, but we don't need to speak".

one time i was out after a game with my team at the bar and we were leaving and this girl was like "hey i know you!" it was some chick that had winked and messaged me but i never replied. that was awkward.

i guess it depends what you're looking for. if you just want one night stands and casual encounters it may be a waste of money. if you are looking for a relationship then perhaps it is.
