I think the first and fourth ones on my list earlier were buttercream and not fondant... do you think buttercream would hold up during an outside wedding? that's my #1 fear - that it'll melt
8/30/2010 11:39:06 AM
What time of year?Outside in oct/nov/march/April...prolly.Outside in june/July/aug...prolly not.
8/30/2010 1:04:17 PM
what about jan/feb/may/sep?]
8/30/2010 1:11:45 PM
May 19th :\ it'll be late afternoon into the evening though, not mid-day that's for damn sure
8/30/2010 1:12:34 PM
Avg temp in May is ~68ºF, max being right at 80ºF. I think you'd be fine, but only if it's in some sort of shade and isn't transported in a super hot car. Also, some bakers will add cornstarch to thicken up the buttercream and prevent it from melting, especially on those humid days. Your baker will know what to do!
8/30/2010 2:06:51 PM
Especially if you have a place to store it until you need to bring it outside. If it's sitting there from 5-9, that's a whole lot better than 11am-9pm.
8/30/2010 2:38:28 PM
are all the weddingsat ferrington village outside?
8/30/2010 3:37:19 PM
River Ridge has a side pretty room where you can do the cake cutting.. .maybe I can just store it in there then transport it out right before the reception startsCan I also add that it is so exciting to be able to say "_____ at River Ridge"?! I'm glad I can finally have a clear cut vision of where I'll be doing this thing [Edited on August 30, 2010 at 5:30 PM. Reason : .]

My husband said buttercream probably won't hold up for weddings outside in May/June/JulyHe said the cake needs to be supported very well for it to hold up. You'd need to keep an eye on the cake during the reception. Here's the cake my husband made for his sister's wedding in May in WilmingtonThose are edible orchids on the cake . The cake was pina colada cake (pineapple, coconut and malibu rum)[Edited on August 30, 2010 at 7:03 PM. Reason : g]

soooooo. cody and i are pretty set for the music for the ceremony.only two songs. (ignore the videos lol)the processional:this song will be played for the seating of the grandparents, parents, bridesmaids walking, and even the bridal entrance. no song changes at all. (the seating will start at the 1:10 minute mark)and this will be the recessional:but i was telling someone about it yesterday and it hit methe processional is called "lower your eyelids to die with the sun"and the recessional is "new morning"how freaking awesome is that?![Edited on September 4, 2010 at 9:30 AM. Reason : and it wasn't planned! people are going to think we were being super symbolic or something ]

We just bought a house and so the whole wedding planning mess has gone out the window until we move. I will be back soon!
9/4/2010 4:05:18 PM
^CONGRATS! where is it?
9/4/2010 4:29:12 PM
Near the Time Warner Amphitheater. We close on the 30th SO SUBLEASE MY APARTMENT!
9/5/2010 7:19:49 AM
^Congratulations on the house!! ^^ that first song 'lower your eyelids to die with the sun' kept reminding me of the arcade fire song 'wake up'. I know it's nowhere close to the same but both very cool songs! You could always add 'wake up' and then still do recessional as 'new morning', lol.How did you pick/find those songs? Do they mean a lot to you and do they work with the whole timing thing?
9/5/2010 9:13:11 AM
Thanks! We are excited!!!

i KNOWthat picture makes me
10/1/2010 9:55:12 AM
i know it is really different and probably frowned upon by a lot of people, but i actually like the jeweled (??? i don't know if that is the right word) top of the dress a lot. it adds detail but isn't flashy. i think its so pretty and whimsical.
