Some nights it just doesn't work. In general, the PP is fine...2 PPG in Montreal on Thursday, a PPG for Weight against the Rangers, etc. I remember stretches last season where the Canes hadn't scored in something like 50+ PP chances.

^ and ^^ Although I fully agree with Cole's absence being one of the issues, I also believe it's a matter of other teams having more of a sense of urgency regarding getting into the playoffs. Only 2 teams in the Eastern Conference are out of the playoffs (Washington and Pittsburgh), and the difference between the current #8 seed (Atlanta) and the lowest of the remaining seeds (#13 Boston) is a whopping 8 points (74 to 66). It's anyone's game at the bottom of the playoff race, whereas the Canes know that they'll be getting in and will more likely than not be a high seed (unless they decide to slump for the rest of the season - maybe I'm thinking too much of seasons past, but I hardly call this a slump).
