I hope Arsenal absolutely trash us. Like 15-0 or something. Only way Moyes gets fired ASAP.

Who was the weird looking red headed dude sitting beside Ferguson?

Was it his son, NC state legend Trevor Ferguson?

i honestly dont get how Moyes is blamed for that lack of a win. I admit im a relative soccer newbie, but he set up a team that created about 30 great chances even just in the 2nd half while i was watching. The fact that the game didnt end 8-1 MU was just b/c of bad luck and heroic efforts on the part of fulham's d. but mostly bad luck.

His instructions were clearly "get crosses in" and it was clearly not working. Fulham sat back and brushed away all of their attempts (when they were actually making it into the intended area) because it's not that difficult to defend. They just couldn't do it for a full 90 because they had absolutely nothing going forward. They should have been up 2-0 after two chances really. And if they had any sort of a decent counterattacking game, United would have been well beaten in my opinion.

Moyes has a plan and if it works in a game, great. If it doesn't, he has no idea how to fix it.

Moyes post game: "How we didn't win, I have no idea."

Rene post game: "When I saw Manchester United today I thought the game plan was quite straightforward – get it wide, get it in."

[Edited on February 10, 2014 at 8:43 AM. Reason : think you're overestimating "great chances" too. I don't remember quite that many]

This sums up United and Moyes. This was my primary complaint coming in. Moyes isn't adventurous enough to try a new tactic or change his tactics when it doesn't work. The first and clear indication of that was the City match when he just looked like a deer in the headlights after being down 3 pretty fast. That was chalked up to his first shot at a big team.

What was it 86 crosses yesterday? That is embarrassing. Moyes went into half time with 45 something crosses and it clearly didn't work. What does he do after? The same exact thing. Surprisingly when did United score those two goals? When Mata was playing right through the middle.

If I can see this and 60-80 percent of United fans can see this and the rival fans can see this why can't Moyes see this?

For me Moyes has had his chance. I still believe he is a good manager but he has absolutely cocked it up by not learning to adapt to being the Manchester United manager. He is too timid and absolutely has no idea how to play an attacking game.

Sir Alex is partly to blame. Last 3 years Sir Alex hasn't exactly played the brilliant football that United played with Tevez, Ronaldo, Rooney, and Berbatov up front. However, Sir Alex got results because he knew how to adapt and change tactically. The team's weaknesses were covered up well because of this. Moyes lacks the ability of Sir Alex and hence the team struggles. From what I have seen Moyes wants to play a possession game but lacks the midfield to actually break teams down. Someone like Toni Kroos or Gundogan who can take the possession that Carrick recycles and move it forward. Cleverley/Carrick/Fletcher all are good at recycling possession. Not one of them is good at moving the ball forward and breaking down an opposition.

The way Liverpool are playing right now is pretty close to the way Sir Alex had United set up when Scholes, Hargreaves, Fletcher, and Carrick were playing good football and had the attacking quartet I mentioned before. It was fast, quick, and counter attacking football. Can't help but admire the way Rodgers has them playing. A bit envious actually.

Man as much as I want Moyes out at this point it would be absolutely hilarious if Arsenal lose tomorrow. Arsenal fans take the cake for being bitter cunts. Its as if they believe if Sir Alex wasn't around Wenger would have won a trophy in the last 8 years. I actually really respect Arsenal, still do but their fans are literally the worst.

If we are going to lose though I hope its a convincing loss and not a 1-0 close match up.

I have been incredibly patient with Moyes (one blip after the everton and newcastle results where I was just frustrated). I have defended him on here to the amusement of other fans as well. No more. It's pretty clear he isn't cut out for it. In 8 months United have gone from elite European team to a laughing stock. Yes its a bit annoying when all the other fans are rubbing it in extra hard because they haven't had the opportunity to talk for the last 20 years. Call me jaded.

That celebration reeks of desperation and was very small time. He looks like someone from his team just scored the winning goal in the champions league final.

Sir Alex and Manchester United's board cocked it up thanks to their pride and ego. Their hubris won't allow them to accept they made a mistake by putting Moyes in charge until its too late most likely. Such an underwhelming signing from the beginning. Managers like Klopp and Mourinho would have been licking their chops at the prospect of coming here, instead we hire Moyes.

I still think Sir Alex tried to get Guardiola. The trip to NY in december was telling. I think Guardiola probably rejected us at the chance to manage Bayern and I can't blame him. More money and a much better squad. Managing United would have been the biggest challenge for Guardiola and it would have taken 2 or 3 years for him to set up United in the system he prefers. Fans probably would have been a lot more patient though. Moyes' failure is just becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. I feel sorry for him, still believe he is a much better manager than the form indicates. Things just haven't worked out.

I think you're pinning a bit too much on SAF and not enough on Moyes himself.

Certainly SAF failed to fill some very gaping holes in midfield, and he failed to bring in good enough backup talent to replace the old guard that will be leaving this year, but in terms of performance and return you can't question the man.

Also, SAF had a much better back room staff. You can't buy into the hype that he was solely responsible for the success and failures - he was accountable for sure, but not the only person as a part of that management team.

SAF may not have left a top drawer playing squad behind, but he did leave a top backroom staff in place for Moyes to be able to hit the ground running. Moyes came in and cleared house, and we are seeing the result of that quite clearly this season. That isn't on anyone but David Moyes. There were only 2 men in the world who could have helped him be in a better position at this point in the season than 7th - I won't live in the land of fairy kisses and lollipops and think we'd be in first, but better than 7th sure - and those 2 are Mick Phelan, who was commentating, and Rene Meulensteen, who was the opposite team's coach. Certainly not first time player-coach Giggs, or Steve 'Fuck All' Round, or Phil 'responsible for the cones' Neville.

Long term, I am not worried about the state of the team. I think Woodward is going to do his best to clean up the shitshow he put on this past summer by bringing in talent. United cannot afford to be terrible, as a publicly traded entity now. They have to make money, and are beholden to shareholders now. Sponsorships help, but if there is no success on the field, then those sponsorships will dry up quickly. If results on the field aren't what they should be and in turn are affecting the bottom line for those shareholders, then Moyes will go, and quickly at that. What we are looking at, essentially, is a more globalized version of Real Madrid or Barca. There is quite a bit at stake in this, and for both of those teams, managers are pretty much interchangeable pieces of a much larger money-printing machine.

They should have promoted one of these guys. They have been responsible for all the training and tactics for the last 5 years.

Round, Neville, and Giggs all look like yes men.

If you read Sir Alex's recent autobio,he does say Carlosh Queirosh was the only assistant who was ever good enough to be United manager.

arsenal/man u was such a boring game. van persie had the best chance that was saved and a couple of half chances for arsenal that were saved relatively easy.

arsenal definitely dont look championship quality recently. hopefully they can stay in the top 4 with tottenham coming on strong.
